IIRC, at the end of "Father's Day", the formerly wheelchair-bound Don
Constantine was able to walk unassisted.

I don't remember anything in canon about FK vamps having sensitive skin.

Also, as a historic reenactor (18th-19th century), I really don't
understand the comment about heavy linen & rough wools. My linen shift (a
kind of long blousey/nightgowny thing) is one of the most soft &
comfortable garments I have, and I've often worn wool stockings *and*
leggins on hot summer days without any problems. Yes, there are heavy
linens and rough wools, but they're not meant to be worn next to the skin
any more than chain mail is.

Yes, but suppose you've just been brought across, and you're suffering from
First Hunger. If you want to make Gramma into an entree', then she'll be
less likely to whip out her crucifix & yell "Help! Vampires!" if you look
completely unchanged.

You can *fake* being blind & walking with a cane--which is what Jody Fraser
did in my story, "Blind Luck". And it's what Melissa Sue Anderson did for
several seasons of _Little House on the Prairie_. But Elizabeth's vanishing
leprosy, in "I Will Repay", poses a real problem for my theory...

Actually, this is kind of key to Dark Knight or the earlier Rick
Springfield version of Nick Knight. In both cases, Alyce Hunter
noticed a scar on Nick's chest and saw the same scar on a man
who looked exactly like him in a very old book. This energizes her
curiousity and gets her involved in the story.

I have always assumed that that scar was something that Nick had
acquired before he became a vampire.

Subject: V4S: The Next Episode is About to Air!

Get your reading glasses ready and your warm, comfy chairs, because the
Forever Knight Virtual 4th Season is about to release another episode,
FOR REAL this time! ;)

In our latest episode, "By the Book", an aging hipster is dead in the back of
Lombardi's New and Used Rare Bookstore, stabbed to death with a long pointy
object. Already buried in work, Nick and Adam must sort out the perpetrator
from a dizzying array of eccentric and cantankerous co-owners, cousins, and
uncles.

Making matters worse, they are saddled with a tagalong from the Police
College, language expert and human lie detector, Sgt. Chloe Lang, who has
come to observe the detectives in action. She is opinionated and intrusive,
and she is coming dangerously close to discovering Nick's secret.

"By the Book" will be posted on FKFIC-L starting...

              TOMORROW, Tuesday, February 27, 2001!

You need to be subscribed to FKFIC-L and your topics need to include V4S: in
order to receive the episode via email.

The story will also be posted in its entirety to Mel's fan fiction web site
at www.fkfanfic.com on March 5, 2001 (hopefully!).

The scar is mentioned in many stories written by the
fans (though it's spot on Nick’s body differs).
Supposedly it is the scar Nick got when he was
fighting in the crusades which got infectious and
caused him a fever for several months before he
encountered Janette at the Paris tavern. Part of his
disillusionment at that time is blamed on that
particular illness but this can not be considered a
fact and might as well be some fans' imaginative
points of views.

Wonderful! I can't wait to read it :)

Having last read V4S so long ago (it's been a couple years
at least), I always wondered what was going to happen next.

You Know You've Been Watching Too Much FK When....
(and lucky us, we can STILL watch FK five days a week on cable in
Canada <bg>)

1) Passing the Queen Street location of Toronto's former night club
known as Sanctuary: the Vampire Sex Bar, you note with bemusement
that it is now a Starbucks Coffee shop and wonder, would Tracy
approve?

2) (thanks to Susan B for pointing this out) You see a headline in
a recent issue of the Toronto Sun that reads:

        "TO Vampires (are) Tops!"

and you think, of course they are! We have Nick, and LC and Janette!
Not to mention Vachon, Urs and Screed.

BTW, the subject of this little news item is even more interesting.
Did you know that the Toronto Police really do have a group known as
the Vampire Squad? <g>

No, it isn't canon per se; it is an extrapolation from canon in that if FK
vamps have heightened auditory, visual, and olfactory perceptions, then it
follows that tactile perception is similarly increased.

My linen shift <snip> is one of the most soft & comfortable garments I have,

The comment was given pertaining to *Nick's* skin, not yours (nor mine, for
that matter)--my sister, whilst in the Air Force, dreaded the occasions when
she had to wear her 'dress' uniform, as even a slip and blouse couldn't protect
her skin from the wool. And was the material for your linen and woolen garments
hand-carded, hand-spun, and hand-woven on medieval-style looms, or was it
machine-processed (as the military's is)?

>>Yes, there are heavy linens and rough wools, but they're not meant to be worn
next to the skin any more than chain mail is.<<

Basically, just take a look at any of the flashbacks of Nick's 'coming across'
and you'll see what I mean. Sure, his chemise is thin and fine, but his tunic
is definitely heavy and coarse. Apparently it didn't bother him as a human, but
it *might* have bothered him as a vampire.

You know you've been reading way too much Forever Knight
fanfic when you see a headline in your paper that states
"Bitten by a thousand-year-old dead man" and you just have
to read the article, to see if it was a vampire. <g>

The story was actually about an archaelogical dig, but was
very funny!
