Subject: New RARE FK Stuff!

Hi everyone,

I thought you all might like to know about this. I got a RARE FK Season 1
Press Kit recently, which I won for a large sum of money off ebay!! :) And
so here's the things in it I scanned...

I added 13 new "slide" scans to the Cast Photo sections. Some are new RARE
shots you have never seen, and others are better replacements of my photo
scans. The slide scans are even better than photo scans so take a look at
these and enjoy! I also added 7 new RARE FK photos from it too.

Enjoy!

Is this person on our list?

Found this while looking for something TOTALLY unrelated to FK! (well, sort
of.. graveyard web themes).

Anyway, I glance at the index on the left, and see themes for FK and GWD!

Subject: night in question, any doctors/nurses on the list?

All right, in the opening scene of Night in Question, when they're wheeling
Nick into the ER, the doctor spiels off a whole bunch of medical babble that
I'm finding hard to interpret.

1. Oculovestibular reflexes
My guess on this one is that it means Nick's pupils weren't dilating when
they shined a light in his eyes. Is that right? I dunno... ocular...
reflexes... it kind of works...

2. Spastic hemiplegia
Totally don't know this one. What the heck is it? Just going by my
knowledge of roots and stuff all I'm coming up with is jerky blood... and
that just doesn't seem right to me :)

Anyone know?

I had problems with this episode when it first aired mostly because of the
strange medical things. Like Nick having a rythmn on the heart monitor
(which we know from the script was supposed to be because Natalie had it set
to give a standard read-out) but which made no sense in the aired episode.
I don't think I noticed all of the techo-babble but this stuff is mostly
made up or things that wouldn't be said. Obviously they didn't watch ER.
>
> 1. Oculovestibular reflexes
Oculo refers to the eyes but vestibular refers to the inner ear and I was
never aware they had reflexes. When someone comes in unconscious or with
altered mental status you look for how the pupils react to light, if they
are equal, how long it takes them to react. Normaly this is refered to as
PEARL-"pupils equal and reactive to light" If someone has brain damage one
pupil might be "blown" or a lot larger than the other.
> 2. Spastic hemiplegia
Hemipeligia is paraylisis of the legs/below the waist, spastic means they
are in spasm or rigid. These 2 words could go together but I've never heard
them. The term you might hear on ER or medical shows of someone who has had
a head injury is "posturing/decerebrate posturing" or "Postured" which
refers to a specific way the muscles have tightened up.

I suspect just as they threw continuity to the wind they didn't bother to
find someone who knew the right terms to use.

According to Medscape

Spastic hemiplegia is ( total or partial paralysis of one side of the body that
results from disease of or injury to the motor centers of the brain affected
with or marked by spasticity ie spastic paralysis <a spas·tic patient>
<spas·tic hemiplegia> )

Haven't had time to look up "oculo?? ocular?? vestibular reflexes" yet.

Everything everyone has said so far (at least in yesterday's digest)
about scrubs is true. Some people do also buy their own. Depends on
facility policy and personal taste.

As for the specific question, no, I never saw any sort of logo or
insignia on Nat's at any point in the series. And they were uniformly
blue-green (not unlike the Caddy, now that I think about it *g*), with
the occasional white lab coat or smock thrown in for variety (and often
having little to do with what she was actually working on in the scene).

Subject: date set for Mission GK 2000!!!!

Greg "Screed" Kramer will be appearing on stage as Gollum in THE HOBBIT at
Toronto's Young Peoples Theatre. On Saturday, November 11, 2000, I hope to get a
group together to go see what is certain to be a wonderful production.

You do NOT have to be a member of the greg kramer fan klub to attend. Current
plans call for a room party (perhaps with pizza) prior to the 7 p.m. show, going
as a group to the theater, then doing something, perhaps a drink or snack after
the show. If someone can bring a vcr, we will watch some exclusive gk videos
during the room party.

There are NO promises Greg will go with us after the show. Stage performances
are grueling and we need to respect that he may be exhausted or have other
conflicts. However, I will say that he DID go with us last time a Mission GK was
held and we all had a blast!

The theatre box office is NOT set up so that I can reserve seats and then have
individuals call in to pay for their personal tickets. If you want to sit with
the group, please get with me ASAP as I'll order a group of tickets within the
next few weeks (of course I'll be collecting money for them). If you are
uncomfortable sending me money (which I understand!) or are not sure if you can
attend, don't worry! You can order your own ticket and we'll have a
predesignated meeting place after the performance to hook up again.

For ticket prices and futher info, check out the theatre's webpage at:
http://www.ypt.ca

(Those in the US, remember that the US dollar is strong against the Canadian
one, so the conversion of US to Canadian dollar is in our favor)

If you are even THINKING about going, please contact me off list. There's
details and such that I'll want to keep you up to date on.

By the way, if you decide at the last minute to go (well, a few weeks before the
date), that's fine, just let me know as I need to know how many to expect (for
"momento" purposes). If you are attending LCA3 in October and decided you need
another immediate excuse to travel back to Toronto, that's fine! LOL!

Hope to hear from a few of you!

In the Philadelphia, PA area, "Andromeda" will be carried by WB {channel 17}

{tomorrow} Saturday, OCT. 7 at 7:00 pm, and while my local TV guide type

Subject: Ancient Roman History Questions

Greetings!
I hope that some of you who ae familiar with Ancient Roman History and other
History and military experts can help me with some info for fanfic.
Prior to and during LaCroix's MORTAL life, Spain was part of the Roman
Empire, correct? In Collier's Encyclopedia, in the section on Spain, it
states: "By the first century A.D. Andalusia was Romanized and the native
languages had disappeared.<snip> Southerned Spain was the most Romanized of
the provinces, producing the first provincial council; the emperors Trajan
and Hadrian, and such writers as Martial, Quintilian, the Senecas, and
Lucan."

#1) During the MORTAL lifetime, what would SPAIN have been called by the
Romans and also by the native people of Spain?

#2) Could a man, born and raised in Spain, have served in the Roman Army?
   a) Would he have been a slave, or would he had to have been the son of a
member of Spanish nobility and/or the son of a Senator, possibily his father
representing one or all of the Spanish provinces?

   b) How high in rank could such man have risen in the Roman army? I am
thinking of him as being close to Lucius' age, and him serving in General
LC's regiment {would that have been a legion, or something bigger?} What
would have been his title and the term for the section of LC's army that he
could have commanded.-- He would be of a high enough rank that General
Lucius would have been very much aware of him as a soldier.

#3) While I think Christianity may not have entered Spain during LC's mortal
lifetime, the Romans were aware of it at that time, and there have even been
Roman soldiers who, because they were Christians, were martyred. IF a
Spaniard serving in LC's regiment/army had secretly embraced Christianity
and due to his new found faith, had refused to carry out or permit or relay
the General's command to the men under his particular command to commit
horrible acts on the people they had conquered --e.g. LC had allowed his men
to rape, etc., the women of the Gauls, I think in the presence of the
conquered men, as he and the Senator talked about at Seline's party-- I am
assuming this blatent disobedience of the General's order may have been
looked at as something equivalent to mutiny. Is it plausible that LC would
have executed such an officer right there on the battlefield-- with or
without the benefit of trial?-- and would LC have simply himself or had
someone else 'run him thru with a sword' or would his head have been cut
off? [I am aware that the Christian Saints Peter and Paul were martyred--
both had been Jews, and St. Peter had been crucified {upside down, because
he did not feel he was worthy to die like Jesus}, but St. Paul was also a
Roman citizen which entitled him to be beheaded instead of crucified-- and
prior to his death, when he had been flogged and imprisioned, because he was
a Roman citizen, he should not have been flogged and told his jailers so--
they probably had not known of his Roman citizenship before whipping him.]
My point is that being a Roman citizen, would a high ranking officer who
disobeyed his commanding general's order in the 'field of battle'-- would he
have received the ancient Roman equivalent of a court-martial and what and
when could he have probably been executed.

#4) General Lucias may or may not have known of said officer's Christian
faith before-- in your opinions as FK fans familiar with LC, if LC had
already known of the Spaniard's as being a man of high moral character and a
man of horor, as well as respected him as a superb soldier and officer, do
you think he would have respected such a man's strong conviction, yet would
have executed him out of anger or because it was something that he had to do
to a rebellious subordinate in a combate situation? And would LC's opinions
and actions have been negatively influenced by his possible perspective of
the officer's religious faith?

Thank you!

It has her listed on the intenet movie database as Eva when you look up the
