You know you've been reading too much FK fanfic when you're watching a sumo
wrestling event for charity (other employees in hilarious rubber suits) and
think, that would make a really funny fanfic.

Nick vs. Lacroix
Nick vs. werewolf Schanke
Nick vs. Nat
Nat vs. Jeanette
Nat vs. LaCroix
Tracy vs. Vachon

any takers? <g>
Hmmm, this might make a good challenge.

(The charity was United Way.)

Sub: I,m back

Hi. It<s

I,ll start again. Hi. It's Mr. B. I've just signed on again, and
realised that I hadn't been on line since April. Where did the
summer go? I also read sixty-two letters. Serves me right!
Anyway, although I can't guarantee to sign on regularly, I will
be on more frequently from now on. By the way, I'm sending this
message to you because I still can't be sure that I can get a
message to Forkni-L. So, please pass this on.
I have received all the things that peopla have sent me, and I
apologise if my failure to reply to messages has caused any upset.
I've been a busy boy, and it's been a difficult year.
We are now filming episode nineteen, and at last, as far as I
know, the first two eps have been shown.
It really is fascinating to read people's reaction to the new
episodes. We get so close to the whole thing that it is sometimes
difficult to be objective about things, so your input is very valuable.
So, now you know how Janette was brought over. I think that Lacroix
did indeed love her, but the choice to come over was hers, and hers
alone. Had she said no, I feel that he would have left her alone.
With regard to the relationships between the three vamps, I think
the following should be borne in mind. As far as Lacroix is concerned,
Nick and Janette are his children. There is no possibility if any
sexual relationship between them. I mean between Lacroix and Nick
or Lacroix and Janette. I think that the love between L and J was
asexual. He was fascinated by her beauty, and entranced by her spirit,
and offered her a way out of her situation. Very Pygmalion-ish.
With Nick, I think that Lacroix wanted a son- for all the same
 reasons that mortals want sons.
 NOTHING SEXUAL.
By the way, we are just doing an episode where Nick is married to
Janette, having an affair with Nat, being bossed around by Schanke,
telling his woes to Cohen who owns the Raven, and stabbing Lacroix
 to death with a knife!
 Work that one out!

Here's another, from GWD's appearance at the Atlanta Fantasy Fair. I think
this was right after they'd started filming second season.

<<These are from the Ger's Q&A sessions at
the Atlanta Fantasy Fair, June 17-19, 1994 ... Ger
is great at the verbal tap-dance!

Re: Developments between Nick and Nat in the new season:
Ger: "They are holding me back from Cath--physically--most of the
time. Because they want the relationship to be one of her
understanding and being able to help him as opposed to a sexual
one... Also, then [if they made it a sexual one] it would become
so frustrating you would have one of them hanging off a window sill
saying: [almost growling] "Now, or Never!" Of course Nick would
hit the pavement and get up and go: 'Oh, well.' So, he'd get over
it."
[Sigh. And instead we got Last Knight.--sss]

Someone in the audience phrased a question this way..."In some
legends vampires are thought to be dead from the waist down. Is the
show holding to that legend?"

Ger [totally deadpan at this point]: "That's the most difficult
part of this performing thing. Yeah, I find it very difficult.
Actually, it is the size of trouser they have got me in--makes it
tough to do anything."

The fan persists: "Are they holding to that legend---"

Ger [cracking a Ger-smile and cutting the questioner off]: "Who's
holding what, here? What are you getting at? What _are_ you
getting at? Yeah, there's a special person on set that makes sure
he's dead from the waist...
<<editor's comment: Would that person be called a grip????}>>
Still the fan persists.
Ger shifts in his seat and acts uncomfortable, looks around...]
Let's move right along...
[Up until now he has been holding the mike in its normal
upright position. Suddenly he lets it droop down in an
_obvious_ allusion to a portion of male anatomy]
Oh, sorry!
[He quickly brings the mike back up, and makes some muffled
comment about being careful about not (?) blowing on the mike
anymore. But then he's back to being serious again and ready
    to take the next question.]

Then still later:

Re: whether Nick was deceived into becoming a vampire or if he
really chose to become one.
Ger: Actually, the more and more we go along, he did indeed ask for
it. It was a choice that he thought wasn't as...He didn't see the
finality of it. Also, he didn't see the darkness of it. He was
just seeing it as, how I guess we all see immortality, as giving
the biggest power of all--not being afraid of death. He was
younger then and full of, [here he looks directly at the fan who
asked about the "dead below the waist" legend] FULL OF LIFE. So
tell me, call me wacky, but why would you choose...I tell you if
I had know that in that story line, I wouldn't have signed the
contract without talking about that part...But indeed it was a
choice. Although, yes he was deceived about what it would be like,
not about whether or not he would become a vampire. So, he was
ill-informed.

Q: Will we be seeing more of the Enforcers this season?

Ger: Well, certainly _not_ with those guys. Those two poor guys
were stuntmen [[he gave the name of one of them which I have now
forgotten]], really the most fun guys. But when they put those
fangs in they looked like Beavis and Butthead come to Vampland.
So we told them: "God bless you, but don't ever, ever, come back!"
It was a great idea. The original idea was that they would be
wizened--really, really old. Their power came from the power of
the past, not from their physicality. The stuntmen they got were
wonderful guys but they looked like 3rd stringer ends from Detroit.
THey put on the fangs and walked around like...[[here he raises
both eyebrows, draws back his chin to create an over bite for the
imaginary fangs, and lisps out the question...]] "Is this scary?"
It is a great premise, but... >>

Miklos really is a vampire and that the reason nothing happened in Bad Blood

I wonder if the confusion about Miklos is that the scriptwriters were unsure
themselves? In one ep (Dark Knight?) Janette explains to Nick about her
wine cut with blood, and says, "The bartender thinks I am a lush." If that
bartender had been a vampire, he would not have thought anything strange.

I don't remember which ep we first meet Miklos in... anyone? Miklos did not
seem like a vampire when the cross was waved in his face, but then at other
times he seemed very dark, sinister, perhaps protective? Maybe it is all
the fanfic I read, but I feel like he is a vampire, and an older, powerful
one. Still, LaCroix reacted to crosses in Sons of Belial... and Nick
reacted to sacred objects from other religions as well - the knife in
Blackwing, and the candlesticks at the Jewish equivalent of a wake in
Partners of the Month.

Some have commented on Vachon's ability to live in an abandoned church was
that it had been desecrated. Others have said that the fear of religious
objects was all "in their heads" and Vachon didn't know he was supposed to
be afraid... Perhaps the New World vampires were brought across by a
priestess and therefore were very different from the European variety? But
then... maybe Miklos was brought across later in the series? I wonder who
would be his master... Janette?

It's true. If that's a catholic church, like I think it is, then
there's nothing to fear. When the Catholic church closes a building,
they remove the relics from the structure, and in theory the
building"reverts" back to desecration. The removal of the holy space
means everything in a lot of ways. However, if you were talking about
residue or something like that, than I'd go for the "all in the head"
theory. But FK for the most part, seems to play into the vampiric lore
of the sacred being untouchable.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if someone, like
LaCroix or whomever, tried to drink the blood of someone who's pretty
much been designated as a walking holy land themselves, like the Dalai
Lama, or a voodooienne who's recently been possessed by a loa (god)....

That's "deCONsecrated". That means that it was ritually turned back into
a plain-old-building -- stripped of its holy-ness -- as part of the
moving-out process.

Subject: Blitzing for the Knight August

This is just a reminder to blitz those powers that be! :)
.............................................................
Hello Creatures of the Knight,

This entire month we are focusing on the two main powers, Tristar and
Sci-fi, PLUS TNT!

A lot of FK fans have wondered why we don't approach other networks about
possibly reviving the series. Well, we decided to include along with Sci-fi
and Tristar for this month a blitz to TNT to test the waters!!

E-mail: tnt@t.......
(and place in the subject line: "To The Attention Of The Vice-President of
Programming")

You also may call TNT's Viewer Comment and Question Line at (404) 885-4538,
however we ask that any phone calls be in addition to letters and e-mails.

For snail mail, send to:
Vice-President of Programming
TNT 1010 Techwood Drive, NW
Atlanta, GA 30318

Its going to be a triple dose of e-mails from each of you the fans that
would love to not only have FK back on Sci-fi's schedule, but want to make
sure everyone knows that we are want more FK with the original cast in new
episodes and or movies!! So, what do you say? Are you ready to sit down,
take that few minutes and send off three e-mails? It could make all the
difference in the world!

Remember, say a little or say a lot, but say it!! We can make more FK
happen!!!

For the "whole" month of August, we are asking everyone to blitz the
feedbacks!!! For the month, you can re-use the e-mails you did before, or
write new ones. They can be long, or as short as just saying, "Bring Back
Forever Knight."

Important info to add in your letters: Sunday July 16, at 9:00 pm, ET/8:00
pm CT, SciFi will be airing a monthly program focussing on sci-fi movies and
tv shows that have become "cult" favorites among fans. The program's called
"SCIography", During this current blitz, we could ask that an upcoming
"SCIography" ep feature FK! So far, they plan to do eps on "Battlestar
Galactica", "Quantum Leap" and "Sliders", so asking them if they plan to do
a "SCIography" ep about FK can't hurt.

Also, beginning this Monday, Sci-Fi will be airing "Sci-Fi World", which is
a 6 hour block of sci-fi programs with a different theme each day. It's also
possible to ask them if FK will be a part of the "Sci-Fi World" programming
block! So, be sure to include these new ideas in the summer blitzes!

ALSO REMEMBER!! Sci-fi will be changing its schedule around again in the
fall.... lets make sure that we get Forever Knight on!!!

Sci-Fi's E-mail: feedback@w.......

Sony/Tristar Mail Form: http://www.spe.sony.com/spe/help_feedback_index.html

When e-mailing TriStar,(especially) give as much personal info as you
can...rather than just an e-mail name. A bit more personal carries more
weight with TPTB.

There's also a button, I made, which you can post on your websites to spread
the word about the blitzes. Have it link to my "Save FK" page.

Happy Blitzing!!
Kristin
http://members.xoom.com/forever_nick/Forever_Knight

P.S. I'll be sending out reminders for the blitz once a week through out
August, just to make sure you don't forget! :)

I think the writers either couldn't make up their mind about the subject, or
left it open to the audience to decide for themselves.
Vachon's church may be abandoned, but there are still statues and crosses
around in it. In Black Buddha I, in the scene where Tracy comes looking
for Vachon, you can see a large cross in the foreground. So, the church
is not completely stripped of all holy objects.

Btw: Personally, I go with the "all in their heads" explanation. When
turning vampire, certain regions in the mind of a person become so enhanced
(flying, hynotism), it's easy to imagine they also become extremely
vulnerable in others - like being susceptible to psychosomatic reactions.

Then, out of curiousity, how do you explain them reacting to religious objects
they DON'T know are religious. Such as the knives in ... shoot, my mind just
drew a blank but I think it is called "BLACKWING"? As I recall, Nick did not

That does make sense. It would explain the FK vampires' telepathic
communication as well. Although I'm not sure flying is a psychic ability,
though it could be an extension of telekinesis. I've never seen any eps
where they use telekinesis for anything other than flying, but it wouldn't
be too far of a stretch to say a really powerful vamp could move things
around with his/her mind as well.

-snip-

When turning vampire, certain regions in the mind of a person become so
enhanced (flying, hynotism), it's easy to imagine they also become
extremely vulnerable in others - like being susceptible to psychosomatic
reactions.

Subject: FK fanfic writers...

Hello. I am amand-r. You might remember me from such posts as "Hey, I
think that..." and "lol!" But that is neither here nor there. I am
writing to ask fanfic writers if they'd be interested in a little
writing game.

I know that some of the people here are from the HL world, and I know
what at least one of you has played this game with me before. I run
fiction wheels. It's like a little game, done with lyrics. Below is a
short description of the process.

In short, a set group of people exchanges song lyrics that they think
are kind of HL-ish (or in this case, FK-ish), and then a time limit is
set. The writers must produce a short fanfic of a maximum of 4 pages
in a certain amount of time. Generally, the whole process from sign on
to completion takes about 2 1/2 weeks. Imagine having 2 weeks for the
actual story. The stories are then posted on a designated forum (we
have one created), usually starting on the deadline day at 10 PM EST.
What you do with the story is up to you, but I will archive it on the
Lyric wheel homepage if you do not have a home for it. We like to link
to all of the stories and make the homepage an archive.

THINGS to note are that we have few guidelines and very few rules. The
story cannot use the song in it, but one character must say something
from the song as dialogue. So it's not "song fic" per se.

In the HL world, we have done more than several wheels. We started out
with three people, and the last wheel had over 40 participants. We
like to theme them as well, but the first FK wheel will be unthemed.

Please check out the Highlander wheel Homepage to see if you like the
way it looks. THEN check out the Forever Knight lyric wheel homepage
and look at THAT, and read the FAQ. There are no stories there yet, so
if you wanted a general idea about the kind of stories we produce/get,
you'd have to see the HL page.

Thank you so much! I really hope to hear from more people! I already
have about three people interested. If you mail me, you will get the a
nnouncement that the wheel is going to start. This will be some time
this coming week.
