In a recent issue of the weekly science magazine _Nude_, er, _New Scientist_, there was a report about African birds called Oxpeckers. Ornithologists _thought_ they were just pretty birds, sitting and eating ticks off the African oxen... but they were WRONG! It seems that actually they don't eat ticks, they peel open the scabs created by the ticks and eat/drink the cows' blood. One young donkey had a very large hole in his leg-- excavated with tender loving care by the Oxpeckers. See! Vampires that have existed with humans for millennia, undetected! Who knows what else is going on out there.... Sounds like an excellent argument for reviving FK to me! So don't _complain_ about Angel, tell TPTB that it proves there's still an audience out there for a proven product: FK. Your humble & obedient servant, Ligeiea FK P.S. I gave blood today; afterwards, while I was having my tea and cookies, I read _Bloodbeats: A Newsletter for Members of the Community_. Sadly, it was not published by L. LaCroix, but by the Canadian Blood Service. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Jun 2000 20:03:26 EDT From: Alifoxx@a....... Subject: How about Angel AND FK? I don't post very often, but the discussion about Angel and FK got me interested. <<> I just checked out the tentative schedule for Toronto Trek 2000 and found a > panel entitled Angel: Another Forever Knight. It promises to be an > interesting discussion.>> The above description of a forum/discussion is very interesting and it made me think......what if Angel were to find a way to introduce an FK character on their show....guest appearance I suppose, or continuing character. Since supposedly Nick is gone (don't believe it), the obvious choice would be LaCroix. Now think about it....what a burden/help and general nuisance he could be to Angel. I think it would be good for their ratings and at the same time bring FK to life...a bit. Sort of a marriage made somewhere other than Heaven<g>. I'll be there. Probably courtesy of Buffy and Angel, there is more vampire programming on this year's schedule than there has been since FK was cancelled. Ahh, those were the days: FK mini-cons, FK plays, FK fan merchandise. (Nostalgic <g>) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jun 2000 10:54:13 -0400 From: "Cindy L. From personal experience, I know that during the winter, if he was living in Toronto he'd be driving a rental more times than not. Older Plymouths tend to be very weather tempremental. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jun 2000 11:01:30 -0400 From: "Cindy L. And I'll stick my neck out and say that DB isn't particularly talented, although he's gotten better -- the saving grace of Angel is that they've surrounded him with actors who can carry him. He broods well, though, because he doesn't have to use any expressions to do that, and he's naturally gloomy-looking. Another aid is that the scripts are fairly well-written, as are the Buffy scripts. I saw an ep with a flashback to early-1800s Ireland, where he supposedly is from. First off, the costumes were laughable (picture beach bimbos in "serving wench" attire) and DB cannot produce an Irish accent for all the tea in China. He looked and acted anachronistic. Ger can do accents and look natural in period costuming. DB can't. > Angel is only a mere ~200 years old. An infant compared to our favorite > vamps. But I agree that he fits a little too comfortably into the society > of the younger set. Angel doesn't show the weight of years, while Nick does. Of course we're talking actors at the opposite ends of the talent scale, here. IMO, of course. <g> Nancy Kaminski who watches Angel/Buffy for the clever dialog, and to watch Spike whine and diss everyone in sight ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 8 Jun 2000 08:44:06 -0700 From: Storm Born <the_stormborn@y.......> Subject: Re: How about Angel AND FK? --- Alifoxx@a....... wrote: >>what if Angel were to find a way to introduce an FK character on their show....<snip> the obvious choice would be LaCroix. <snip><< Methinks LaCroix would have Angel for breakfast! <eg> ===== Molly/StormBorn FKPagan/Cousin/Seducer/Ravenette/DT/Who's Army Legionnaire the_stormborn@y....... I enjoying noticing the similarities, but I also enjoy the show because it's amusing. It's got a good cast. As for FK vamps appearing on the show, I certainly think it would be interesting to watch Lacroix or Janette sit back and poke fun at the 'baby' vampires. After meeting Angel, Janette would be tempted to wonder if Nick 'fathered' or at least tutored the boy in Angst and guilt. Just my 2 cents.
