Which is why all mirrors are covered at a wake, so that the soul of the deceased couldn't be trapped in a mirror. So the reason that a vampire had no reflection was that he had no soul. Now in Forever Knight, all the vampires had a reflection, so i guess that they all had souls. Which, come to think of it wasn't the problem. Nick was never convinced that he had no soul. He was just convinced that his soul was damned. -- Tracy Sue Vaquera http://members.xoom.com/tracysue1/Library.html "Are you suggesting that coconuts migrate?" - Monty Python and the Holy Grail ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 18:20:48 -0700 From: KYER <KYER@p.......> Subject: God Bless TPTB! As a number of people have been posting thank-you's etc. about their nominations, etc. in the 1999 FK Fan Fiction Awards... A brief status update: Due to Real Life as well as giving a few authors extra time to respond to notifications about their story nominations, I extended the Awards schedule (Nominations period) by an additional week and a half. Thus, the rest of the Awards schedule dates have also been extended. The results of the Nominations (and the Final Ballot) will be announced, tentatively, by this Friday, March 31. The revised schedule can be found in the Awards FAQ on the website. All authors with works making the first round of nominations have been notified, and most of them verified their nomination information. There is no guarantee, unfortunately, that all of these stories will make the final ballot. (For full details on how the Awards process works, including nominations, how the Final Ballot is created, etc., please read the Awards FAQ at: http://www.fkfanfic.com/awards/awardsfaq.htm ) At this point, Tuesday, March 28, all authors with stories, poems, or filk making the final ballot have been notified and most of them have already verified their information. If you haven't been notified that your story(ies) made the final ballot, unfortunately, your story(ies) haven't made the Final Ballot. (btw, the competition was fierce and close in many of the categories) The Final Ballot has not been announced yet, nor does any one know any more about those items making the final ballot besides those authors with stories being selected for the final ballot, and then, they only know about their own items, not anyone else's. By Friday, I hope to be able to announce the Final Ballots. At that time, I will also be listing all of the stories that were nominated, but did not make the final ballot, on the Awards website. If you have any questions on the Awards process, please look for answers on the Awards FAQ, and/or contact me. Thank you, everyone, both readers and authors, for your support, patience and enthusiasm for the Awards. And stay tuned for the announcement of the Final Ballot and the Nominations listing pages. They felt that the reflection was an image >of the soul. If a vampire did not have a soul, hence they could not have a >reflection..... Then it just became the vampire...thing! ;-) Oh, I know the legend reason why. It just never made much sense *if* the vampire is supposed to be a corpse (that's why I had corpse in quotes). A corpse is a very substantial item. Soul or not, it should reflect in a mirror. Now if the corpse is really a spiritual or more insubstantial form, which would more likely be the case if the vampire could shape change, then maybe the legendary reason for no reflection has more merit since spiritual beings might not have any sort of reflection. To bring this back to FK, all the indications there are that FK vampires are very real and solid. So imo it makes sense for them to have reflections. --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie --sandragray@r....... ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 28 Mar 2000 23:05:48 EST From: Phoenix348@a....... The viewer I am using is Windows Media Player, and I believe it is version 6.4. It is probably the version that shipped with the newer version of Win 98, or possibly a version that would've come from www.windowsupdate.com (Microsoft's site for free updates to Windows etc.). It's a very interesting and unusual clip, and I would highly recommend that folks set their movie player to Windows Media Player at least long enough to check it out.
