This is just a reminder for you to add your daily vote on the Global 100 Charts. To vote go here: http://www.global100.com/item.asp?Item=51259 **We could really use the help of those wo have never voted before.** Currently it remains in the #4 position unofficially.(this is what needs to increase so it will officially). Officially it is in the #7 position. Thanks for participating! Kristin P.S. Don't forget I will be announcing this "weekly" soon starting Friday. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 22 Mar 2000 13:38:55 -0000 From: Tracy Gooding <Tracy.Gooding@n.......> Subject: Re: Supersonic vamp flight Brenda F Bell wrote 22/03/00 12:59 GMT <<Now wondering... if vamps could fly *hypersonic*, would they heat up so badly they'd self-combust (fire hazard), or would their self-preservation skills stop them from reaching the danger level?>> I think we have to concede that one <g>. At Mach 5-6 the surface temperature has to be several hundred degrees C, so I hope they'd notice before it reached that point. I recently downloaded Stephen King's new e-book, Riding the Bullet, free from Amazon. To read this book, you also download the free reader program, Glassbook, which offers simple navigation tools (similar to Acrobat Reader). However, the books are e-locked, and you can print, but not copy the pages. While King's book is offered free, other books are priced at various amounts for purchase/download. Are any negotiations or deals in the work for more FK books? If so, maybe this is one more way to add to the reasons why it should/could be done. It's obviously much cheaper (no actual printing on paper and binding), it's easily available to a lot of people, and I'll bet it would get a lot more exposure on the Glassbook site. If we could just get permission for use of the characters, think of all the Fan Fiction novels and novellas that could be put out this way! Subject: Nick flies to Hamilton 8 minutes. One more reason to hate the worst episode (imho) in the whole 3 seasons, Forward into the Past). There are lots more, and I can explain if anyone's curious. But as to flying, aside from the obvious answer, that the writers had heard of Hamilton as not too far from Toronto and didn't bother to look at a map, I wonder if Nick has a helicopter somewhere? :) He does keep a motorcycle in the loft ... At the TIFF, they told us that much of the dialogue was changed by the actors--for example, "The lumpy bumpy hilly place outside of town" (or something like that); originally it was just supposed to be "The hilly place outside of town" but one of the actors came up with that longer thing and they all loved it so much they used it throughout the rest of the movie! Subject: Re: Lacroix's age << I do not believe we knew how old LaCroix was or anything about his origins until 'A Fate Worse Than Death' in the second season. As a matter of fact, based on the flashback scene in 'Dead Air', I was nearly convinced that he *was* Oedipus and Janette had been with him from day one. I think the only reference in any season that LaCroix made to his *ahem* well-preserved status was in 'Killer Instinct' >> Didn't Natalie reinforce the opinion of 2000 year old vampire in Ashes to Ashes, when she spoke to Nick about Divia? Something to the effect of her age, going after her father and no one being closer to him than Nick. (sorry about the vague quote) Is there nothing in canon? That one sparked my interest. Subject: Re: Lacroix's age My view is that LaCroix is "2000" as in the sense that we tend to round off long numbers to make them more impressive, less impressive, or just easier to say. Saying LaCroix is 2000 doesn't mean he's quite there yet, it is just easier to say than, for example, LaCroix is 1951 (just going on the totally random age of 35 in 79 AD and using 1995 as the year his age was stated). --Libs **A Ratpacker is always ready for a game of CHEESY rationalization as long as there's plenty of cheese left fer munchin'.** ------------------------------ End of FORKNI-L Digest - 22 Mar 2000 (#2000-86) ***********************************************
