He therefore would neither be moving to or visiting there because he would live there. 2) He's wearing one of Nick's t-shirts in the loft ... one of the blue silk short sleeved ones. 3) We never find out what happened to the sister-in-law or niece. I suppose the answer was >that he was waiting to do it properly and was overwhelmed by >the fact that he could go out in the sun. He did express his >joy to Nat when he first when out into the sun But that's the whole problem in a nutshell, Judy! :) You said it yourself: Those scenes in "the Fix" are *all* about HIS joy. *Nick's* joy. Emphatically *not* Nat's joy. IMO, from what I see on the screen, Nick doesn't particularly give a damn about Nat's joy, or her despair for that matter, at that particular moment/day. He certainly didn't seem to think much of her protests against dragging her to the Raven to see Janette (and ask _her_ to join him in mortality-for-a-day, lest we forget <EG>). And that, IMO, is why he doesn't sleep with Nat in "The Fix". Nat doesn't figure into Nick's reaction. Not that I blame him for being a little careless of what others are thinking in that really really big moment he's worked for, for so long. But, the fact remains, he *doesn't* seem to care. I agree with the second half of your sentence--- he was overwhelmed by the sunlight, to the point where he could think of nothing else but his newfound mortality. But I defy anyone to *show* me one moment in "The Fix" where Nick looks at Nat as though he's even _thinking_ of "waiting to do it properly". IMO, he's not even thinking of it at all; I might even say it looks like the last thing on his mind. But, of course, no N&N is ever going to agree with an Immortal Beloved on this point ;) Hey, at least we've actually *seen* Janette get a few kisses from Nick <VBEG>. For whatever their reasons, or whatever they might have liked to do onscreen, given more time, the fact remains: TPTB have never *filmed*, for example, even one Nick/Nat what I would think of as a "traditional" courtship scene, and they had three years in which to think of giving us one. Oh dear I'm actually going to sort of defend Nick. <Gasp!> Here goes... I don't think Nick can actually be blamed for this one. <Thuds resound as people all across the world fall out of their chairs.> The reason, IMO, why he was acting in such a selfish manner is because he was a *junkie*. He was either high or going through withdrawal in that ep. What person addicted to drugs thinks clearly or behaves like themselves? >He certainly didn't seem to think >much of her protests against dragging her to the Raven to see Janette (and >ask _her_ to join him in mortality-for-a-day, lest we forget <EG>). Well, he didn't seem to *think*, period. The drugs were talking here. Now, I am the *farthest* thing from a N&Npacker. Well, the second farthest thing. ;) But I don't count this ep one way or the other in the ongoing tally of "does he or doesn't he love Nat". I don't count dreams because the conscious brain doesn't have control over them and I don't count drug-addicted stupors. I'll count fantasies and daydreams, though. :) To me, Nick and Nat's fantasies in Stranger Than Fiction say it all. Nick daydreams about Emily. When he first walks out into the sun and grabs Nat. He holds her away from him for a moment and just looks at her. Granted one might interept it as gratefulness, but I think there is a valid argument there that there is a lot more emotion behind that look than just gratefulness. As for going to see Janette, there is also the argument that the reason he did that was because Nat said they needed to test the drug on another vampire. That is in the dialogue, spoken by Nick. Another good argument there that he went to Janette not because he loves her, but he wanted to test the drug on her. In Janette's own words, she is not a lab rat. For whatever their reasons, or whatever they might have > liked to do onscreen, given more time, the fact remains: TPTB have never > *filmed*, for example, even one Nick/Nat what I would think of as a > "traditional" courtship scene, and they had three years in which to think of > giving us one. Traditional courtship scene? How about Be My Valentine. "Nat, what are going to do about this? The way we feel." Nick begins stroking her face and neck. Her microwave goes off. Nat: "That's my two minute gourment. I guess I better-" He grabs her and kisses her. Later in the episode, he asks her "Are you afraid?" No is her reply. "Keep tonight open?" "I don't know I'll have to check my dance card." Or how about "Let No Man Tear Asunder", last scene. "I like the whole package." he moves in to kiss her and she ducks it. Errr, nothing between them? I don't think sooooooooo. :) ========================================================================= Date: Thu, 20 Jun 1996 09:31:16 -0400 From: Lisa Nullar <AlyraLii@a.......> Subject: Re: Sony, TV_ShowStuff and FK Merchandise Just as a suggestion... and I could be wrong, but when I wrote TV_ShowStuff@p....... Thanks to Mr. Mollin my mind has been reduced to this one musing...Ger in a new series. Speculation runs rampant. What kind of series, comedy? Drama? Will he be the guy next door with the annoying laugh, the eyes we see over the fence and nothing else (homicide is comtemplated for any TV exec to also consider this), the apartment handyman, the ex-boyfriend with an inability to let go of the past, a flight steward having a really bad hair day... Will he be a cop, a doctor, a lawyer (kind of liked this idea, with a voice like that courtroom and real bedroom scenes would be wonderful) a construction worker, a janitor, a librarian <g>, a cyberspace junkie? I've managed to conjure up all sorts of interesting scenarios, some that make me smile, cry, shudder or laugh for joy. What I wouldn't give for a few more tidbits on this subject. I don't want to get Fred in trouble or anything (and I do thank you Fred for sharing this news) but this has been working in my imagination overtime. Sooo (yes, there is a point to this post...stop laughing in the back)... If you could create a series for Ger, what would it be about? What kind of role would you give him now? Come on, I know you've dreamed about him doing something other than a vampire or a helicopter pilot...now's your chance to let us all know what you'd like to see him do. As for me, the lawyer thing sounds pretty good. If he was a new lawyer, say right out of school, refused the law group thing and chose to do it on his own. Fighting for the underdog and all, lots a pretty women to save, poor folks with no money to pay a bigtime lawyer...he'd be kinda poor himself, his living conditions would be...interesting. He'd have this half regular secretary whom he couldn't pay well but has a heart of gold and thinks he's cute. He would be oblivious, of course (kinda like the brickish nature of my favorite blonde <g>) but eventually come around. He would love a good fight in the courtroom, but be kind of inept because of his lack of experience...still, the judges would appreciate his enthusiams and cut him some slack...a very small amount of slack, and he would be paying contempt fines now and again. He would argue intelligently and with passion when it was required, that voice...oooo, that voice would fill the room. Oh, and of course, being young, male and (not so)gainfully employed, he'd have to have a very active social life...but be not quite as successful at it as he'd like. There. I'd call it....Well, I haven't a klew what I'd call it. It sounds good to me anyway. What are your ideas? Who knows, maybe one of us will be close to the truth? This is a great idea! Anne Marion (from Showstuff) called me this morning. (Thanks to whomever who referred her to me yesterday. We had a nice chat & I sent her a long note about my consumer interests and the types of things asked about in the Merchandise survey) and she (remember Anne?) was thrilled that I had included some personal demographics. THEY NEED THAT INFO TOO to show to Sony! Anne really wants as many personal emails to her, to forward to SONY in her pitch as possible. THIS WILL NOT TURN INTO SPAM! In this case, the more letters right now, the better. Anne specifically is counting on us to show ourselves! p.s. I did NOT tell Anne how many survey responses I have so far, nor do I think it's wise to tell her. Please do not forward my status report to her. Some of that information is for our eyes only, right now. I did say that I've only been doing this for a month (since 5/19) and that I will publish and early returns analysis on 7/1. When I told her that the response is now snowballing (i.e. copies of the email surveys being printed and distributed, non-internet fans responding through the snailmail, responses from seven (yes 7! Mexico checked in yesterday!) countries) SHE WAS VERY EXCITED! I also told her I'd continue the survey gathering through 1996, for another analysis publication to coincide w/SciFi's airing of 1st & 2nd seasons! And, that the REAL news is the new fans coming on board since 4/27 (SciFi), that this is mushrooming and that SONY would be crazy not to take up the opportunity to make money from this. BTW: Anne says that SONY's last response was that it would be too much trouble to draw up the legal papers, etc. for merchandise licencing, etc. Anne's take is that SHOWSTUFF would be doing all the work in getting manufacture, promotion, distribution, order fullfillment, etc done. All SONY would have to do is deposit checks! (ahh, to have THAT job!) So, in both my conversation to her & my email, I said it really comes down to only ONE question for SONY: Do THEY WANT our money, or do they want OTHERS to get our money? Cause WE *ARE* SPENDING, right now! We WILL spend more to see eps we haven't seen, and to purchase ANYTHING related to FK. (I also suggested she contact Crescendo.) * * * Keep sending in the surveys! Hi Carrie! This is a neat thread. Well, I thought Ger as a P.I. would be interesting. He would come from a very wealthy family. Ya know, money and power. He s been groomed to follow in Daddy s footsteps: big education and all that stuff. But decides, for whatever reason, he doesn t want any part of it and goes out on his own. Daddy cuts him off, but hopes it s just a phase and he ll regain his senses sooner or later and come crawling back. He has a tough street-wise secretary who is at a lose as to why he would give up the good life, but admires him for it all the same. He still has friends in the world of the rich who also question his decision. Maybe he s got an old girl friend in that world that he still sees every now and then? He s more than happy to help the less fortunate. He s good at his job, but because he seems drawn to cases of the less fortunate, he isn t able to get too far ahead of the game. Daddy comes around every once in a while to see if he s ready to come back......... Wait a minute! This sounds a bit too familiar. Don t ya think? I think he would make a good private investigator, someone with lots of interesting underground connections, and an even more interesting clientele. He would have some small trysts with women here and there, but there would be one woman to whom he has given his true heart. He would have a seedy office in a darkish part of town, and his secretary would be an older, motherly woman who tries to keep him organized and who rolls her eyes at the various situations that he gets mixed up in, particularly with the women. He would have a buddy/sidekick/partner who helps him pull off some of the plans and shemes that he uses in his investigations, and who helps get him out of tight spots from time to time. Another character for Ger could be that of a writer of short stories, who goes into and becomes a part of each story that he writes. Each episode of the show would be developed around one of these stories. He would have a group of "real-life" friends and not-so-friends that he uses as characters in his various stories. It might be interesting to gather together the actors from FK to be part of a cast like this. It wouldn't matter if the actors looked older by now, because the vampire thing about not aging wouldn't be an issue. I always thought it was a bummer that the writers let this part of the storyline fade away like they did. With the war quickly approaching and the factions gathering up sides, please note that the Perkulators are still searching for members. I am the leader with Kristina Mairi Buhrman second-in-command (Look Ma!! I'm no longer alone.). Anyone wanting to be a Perkalator (The Few, The Proud, The Obnoxiously Perky), let me know. Remember, in order to be part of the war, we need permission. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of the chaos. As for all of you who, in the heat of battle to Save Forever Knight, promissed your souls to me -- I mean, the Perkulators -- now is the time to join us. If you have divided loyalties and cannot, in good conscience, become one with us, e-mail me and I will let you know what you have to do. >:->. He's going to play a cop (mortal, this time). He's going to be on a "beach" show like Babewatch. ;) He's going to play a doctor on yet another doctor show (hey, he's done that in several movies already). He's going to be a vet (hey, it's another doctor ;) ). He's going to be a conniving, evil bastard J.R. Ewing type in another glitzy nighttime soap (this would be kewl!). He's going to be the romantic lead in a woman's drama (which will entail him doing lots of love scenes and smiling a lot), probably a lawyer, teacher, or businessman. --Sandra Gray, forever Knightie --tmp_harkins@d....... ========================================================================= Date: Thu, 20 Jun 1996 13:40:01 -0700 From: Amy R. <akr@n.......> Subject: Nat's Methods (was Re: Nick and Cures) Alora wrote: >Whether or not those attempts pre- or post-date Natalie is really not >important; the point is, that Nick jumps at cures that someone can give >him, and shows no follow-through when it comes to cures that require his >work. Everybody know I'm a Knightie, not a Natpacker? Good. :-) Alora, you're arguing from a false premise. You are presuming that there were treatments in the past which "require his work" in the fashion that Nat's do, and that Nick somehow rejected them. I have never seen any evidence of that. In fact, if I recall 1966 correctly, Nick had been searching for the Abbarat for *years*, and he had no idea of the nature of the cure it was reputed to contain. The fact that the other "cures" now look like "fixes" is the responsibility of those who conceived them, not of Nick for embracing them. I submit that Natalie's methods are something entirely new in Nick's experience. Admittedly, third season has been bad for Nick. But in first season, we saw him take *garlic pills*, for goodness sake. Nick has not been able to entirely give up blood. Perhaps this data is something Nat should consider? As nearly as I can determine, she has changed nothing in her approach in the past four years. She is still working with vitamins and protein shakes and the sunbed. Her course of treatment seems to be to make Nick take as much as he possibly can of the things that naturally repulse or harm vampires. (Strangely, she never did get around to making him work with holy objects, though, perhaps because of her reluctance to consider the spiritual side of his condition.) That approach seems to imply that Nat believes Nick's condition to be mainly psychological. I think she should have enough evidence by now that it is not, and she should reevaluate her treatments accordingly. Frankly, by not giving Natalie more scenes going over her research and working with Nick, TPTB have made *her* appear to have at least as much of a problem with follow-through as Nick does. She has not been portrayed as a diligent scientist for a long, long time, and her professional standards in two spoiler-protected episodes are also questionable. **** Amy R., Lady of the Knight (akr@n.......) **** "Memory's/ like wine; it might keep, it might turn." -- LF =========================================================================
