(Seems like we heard it in the BMV flashback too, didn't we? From Fleur or his mother?) It is spelled "Nicolas." In the French language, the "S" at the end of the word is not pronounced. Several fanfic writers tend to spell it "Nicolah" or "Nicola" in order to make it clear that Janette is using the French pronunciation. On the list, Janette's last name is generally taken as duCharme (our hearing of how Nick introduced her in the BMV flashback). I don't know if we ever had confirmation from any PTB on that. I know that in order to use a main FK character in a WAR post, you have to have permission from the Leader of his/her faction. And I know that you cannot use a non-participating Listmember in the WAR w/o his/her permission. However -- If a Listmember writes themselves into the WAR, are they then fair game to be used by other faction members (or by their own faction, for that matter) w/o their express permission, or must one obtain permission to re-use them? If I recall correctly, the answer is that once you write yourself into the WAR, you are fair game to be used by anyone. Is that still correct? And is that correct even if you appear in the WAR in someone else's post, rather than your own, provided you gave your permission to be used in that other post? Also, even if a listmember is considered "fair game" for anyone to use once they've appeared in the WAR, is it necessary/advisable for parties wishing to use that listmember to check with him/her to make sure of timing so they don't end up in two different places at the same time??? Or does one just post, and clean up the timing problems after the fact? I recall being very confused about this last WAR, and would appreciate some clarification of the Rules. Thanks. And since I'm on digest, a private cc in addition to a list response would be appreciated. Thoughts As to the possibility of FK in cartoon format: A lot of the listers are complaining that it would be inferior "like the Star Trek cartoon series". I happen to remember when the Trekkers hailed the ST cartoons as the greatest animation series ever produced. Granted, the ST cartoon did not have the burning social commentary that the original series got away with, but it did have special effects that the original couldn't afford (it's been said many times that animation is like having an unlimited special effects budget). My favorite Star Trek character of all time is still Lt. M'Ress from the animated series (or, as I liked to call her, "Lt. Kitty"). I only hope that 25-30 years from now, we have 4 FK-related shows in syndication, and an animated FK series to look down on. -- Ray Nat Vamp Camp Rage! Rage! Now, in the spirit of no-prizing, maybe I suggest that duChamp is not so much an error as an alias. Don't forget "Nicholas de Chavalier" and some of the other names taken and discarded with identities.
