Margie, I think that is what we want to establish with Cousins of the Night.
That way there is no email loop, and we can all do our posting right here,

Update for y'all from my end as the AOL FK Chat Host (and OMNI Insider):

Re Chats:
 - Fred Mollin is still expected to join us for a chat in June.
- Jon Cassar is apparently no longer on AOL.
- I'm sure Gillian Horvath would join us for a chat again sometime in the
future

Re OMNI Conferences:
I recently noted in one of my chat reports, read by our online editor, Erin
Murphy, that people often ask me when Nigel or Ger or someone could do
another OMNI Online conference. She replied to me this past week that
apparently those will be *out* as Forever Knight is no longer in production.
(Yeah, but what about the Sci Fi Channel rerun airings through 1997?? It's
not like the show has disappeared!) I'm not entirely sure where this
decision came from, so don't jump to conclusions, please.

Here's a direct quote from Erin Murphy:
>>If your chatters want to have someone in particular in conference, let me
know. Just bear in mind that if the show is no longer in production, it's
going to be next to impossible to get them. :/<<

A while back, Pat Elrod contacted me about doing a chat/conference in regards
to KEEPER OF THE KING, the book she's done with Nigel Bennett. As Pat is not
on AOL, it would have to be a conference (where the special guest calls in
and someone online ghost types, which is how Ger did his OMNI chat in
January). I contacted Erin Murphy immediately, but she says that AOL's
Center Stage people who schedule the auditoriums only want best-selling
authors. Pat Elrod is VERY well known in her genre (horror fiction) but that
doesn't seem to count.

This is not totally out of the works, by the way. Erin has been in contact
with Pat Elrod and there still might be something happen out of it. She's
been trying to get a response back from Pat.

I just realized that Ger's Prodigy chat would have taken place after the
final filming of "Last Knight" - I think I'll remind Erin of this, that
conferences with personnel from shows that are still airing ought to be
included. FK may have been cancelled for a fourth season, but heck, I'm
still watching it in syndication and on the Sci Fi Channel every week!

If anyone is thinking of writing OMNI asking for someone for a conference,
you can e-mail Erin Murphy at erinm@a....... but you better be polite and
nice, NOT mention my post, and simply say that you hope so and so could do a
conference.

I wrote them back in January concerning Forever Knight, and they
replied on 10 Jan saying that they planned on carrying FK until September
96. I just e-mailed them tonight requesting that they consider showing
the entire series from episode one at its current time slot. I also
emphasised that while it is on the SciFi channel, TCI in Denver does NOT
carry SciFi.

So lets see what we can do! If I hear anything from them, I will post
their reply to the list.

Ooh good question! What struck me immediately was that in most of these
eps, the theme of vampirism is of primary concern to the plot. There have
been episodes which I liked, but had little or nothing to do with anyone
anywhere being a vampire. Most of my favorite episodes have the vampire
element as integral to the plot.

Actually, now that I think about it, in ALL of these top ten eps, vampires
are essential. That's interesting...

My least favorite eps are ones in which vampires are not only secondary to
the plot, but coincidental.

Thanks for posing the question!

Subject: OK, it's ours -- The Virtual Season

A while back, we discussed whether or not people would stay on the lists
after the show ended. Under the subject line "A REASON to stay" Sorcha and
I made a proposal:

We don't need TriStar for a fourth season.

Here was the gist of it: It was proposed that we, ourselves, organize a
fourth season -- not filmed, of course, but written. It would be planned
just like a real season, and a single "show" would be chosen each week
(or two) to be discussed on the lists as though it had aired.

Sorcha and I volunteered to coordinate this, but under no circumstances
do we want to (or do we have time!) to write the whole thing ourselves.

At the time, there seemed to be a lot of interest from people, and I'm
wondering if that is still the case, now that the time has come to begin
planning.

So ... if you think this is a good idea -- and particularly if you're
interested in writing for the Virtual Season -- please drop a note to this
address.

Specifics in terms of story direction will of course need to be discussed
on the Spoiler List, but I thought this would be a good place to start.

BTW -- If this is something you would NOT be interested in, we'd like to know
that too.

What we have lost, so far, is the fiction archive which had been run by
Darkangel. She is no longer interested in FK, according to her post, and
no longer has the space or the time to administer the site. I believe
there has been some discussion about finding another home.

This does not mean that the archives will be lost, just that someone else

In Anne Rice's novels, her vampires can sense the thoughts of other
vampires, except in the cases of parent/child, "maker/offspring"
relationships, such as the LaCroix/Nick or LaCroix/Janette would be in
FK. For some reason, the "parent" vampire can't read the thoughts of
his or her own creation. I don't remember if or when this detail was
dealt with in the FK episodes, but someone else might. It could be a
very interesting twist to use in a fanfic story! I'll be interested

Sci-Fi is showing Forever Knight on Tuesday night this week. Isn't that
nice? No good reason that I can see; on Monday they're showing a bunch of
old movies. Everyone who writes about television says one of the best ways
to kill a show is to move its time slot around. So, I have a question.
Since Sci-Fi has now given us the first clue that they're not serious
about Forever Knight, if they don't show 1st and 2nd season after all,
do they still have the rights to sit on the eps for two years?

Oh well, maybe it's some "brilliant" decision about Memorial Day. They
think people won't be home, and they'll be able to get more new viewers
by showing it on Tuesday.

Can you just see the different factions arguing over what direction the
stories should take?

Don't get to upset. It's on tuesday this week. Same time, just a
different day. It goes back to monday next week.

(DoN was the last episode to come *out* of protection. In light of the
recent spoiler slips, I just thought I'd declare DoN discussion up front.)

In my continuing quest to find proof in the dialogue -- rather than in
gestures, expressions, delivery, tone, and everything else that ought to
be valued -- that Nick loves Natalie, I came across a few lines from DoN:

Nick (to Alyssa's body): Sleep, my love.

Nick (to Alyssa's ghost): I did love you very much.

Now, this seems like a world record for my dear Brick. Not only did he
love the woman enough to marry her, he actually managed to choke out the
word "love" on two occasions. Now, I have, as yet, been unable to find
him using the word "love" in relation to himself anywhere else. Not
towards Nat, not towards Janette, not LC, not his mother, his sister, or
even his dog. There are still a few eps for me to check, and many that I
don't have, so I must ask: is this right? Has Nick never *said* he loved
anyone but Alyssa, Mrs. Nicholas deBrabont?

Nothing counts but the word "love," coming from his own lips.
(I'll get to implications later.)

Hi!

I know that some of you are really fascinated by the tower we see in the
intro sequence of FK. Well, I've just added two pictures (from my trip to
Toronto back in 1990) on my Forever Knight page: one is a rather impressive
shot of the CN tower taken at its foot and the other is the view you get at
the top of the tower. It's quite high, as you'll see on the picture. I
wouldn't want to have to jump from there! (bungee! :) As always, the
address for my Web page is in the sig.

I believe the head wound was in the back of Tracy's head, the result of a
ricochet. Please examine the ribena streak on the wall behind her--it
starts at the back of her head, and because she slides down the wall,
continues to where her body stops moving.

OBFK: I noticed that the station which shows FK in syndication

know if all of season 3 will be rerun in syndication? There are
still a few episodes I need to tape.

Count me in! I'm working on a Last Knight sequel which should be done by the
end of the month - and I have a short (6,000 word) episode "The Gift" which
is ready to post but I need instruction on how to attach a file--I'm kinda
new at this.
I've sold fiction and written for science fiction 'zines (among them the
original Airwolf). Your idea sends fire into my creative heart--Tri-Star,
Sony, etc. can't stop us now!

God, yes! Let's do it!

Well, as of today, the mailing list which discussed the UF has 30 members!
Not all of them are UFers, of course, but I'd say a goodly portion of them
are. We could have a mighty interesting game of Twister!

But they are *not* showing something else on tuesday night to make wasy
for FK.... They could have just not showed FK at all. untill they start
canceling FK alltoghether I don't think we have to be worried.

Well if we're serious writers (as I like to consider myself in most cases)
then we'll be writers first, faction members second. We'll just imagine
that we're writing this *for* FK, as if we're going to have it produced and
turned into an actual TV show. If I were to send a script to TPTB, I would
be smarter than to let my faction feelings get in the way of
professionalism. I think if we all just agree to keep with the theme and
the tone of the show as committed writers, rather than as factioners, then
we'll be okay. We'll be better than okay, we'll be great!

And I promise not to put any hamsters in Nick's pants, okay? ;)

Maybe she likes sex. And she has gone, I calculate, six years without any -
come on, even some "smart women" get frustrated (heavy sarcasm here).
Nick's a sexy guy. What they already *have* is a relationship without sex -
Nat, being a smart woman, wants more, IMHO.

Ahem... (The shy lurker raises her hand...) I think some of you may be in
denial a tiny bit. Or else haven't seen the whole first season, which I
find hard to believe. The real LaCroix was only in two episodes of the
first season (I mean not in flashback), but he "killed" an innocent
woman/person, or more than one, in both of those eps. Now, some may argue
that Elyse (sp?) wanted to be brought across, but by Nick, not LaCroix, and
you know he only did it to irk Nick, anyway. And what about the guard at
the museum? Wasn't he innocent, even if not female? And the one that
really made me personally hate him was in Love You To Death. Not the
ballerina, (yes, I know Nick killed her, but LC tricked him into it -uh-oh,
whole 'nother discussion there) because I think some of these delusional
Cousins (duck) are convinced that Nick somehow remembers all his flashbacks
wrong. No, I mean the girl at the end of the tag, when we discover that LC
is still alive after all. He's chewing on her pretty good, blood dripping
and all, pretty gory scene.

>>see him do it. I think that for most people, if we saw him do it, it would
>>be very hard to like LaCroix.

It's true, it made it very hard for me to like LaCroix, at the time,
although I think the fact that he's mellowed in his old age is great. But
not liking *him* doesn't mean I don't like the *character*, if you see what
I mean. I think the fact that LC is so evil makes the show that much more
fun, and makes him much more fun to watch!
