I gather from earlier posts that this is another one of those wonderful

Beware, newbie's first posting after months of lurking, apologies to
all if I mess it up --- BUT I couldn't stand it anymore.

In anticipation of Ger's Outer Limits episode "Paradise", I called
Showtime (which carries O.L. for me) to inquire about an airdate>>>
the answer was June 16th!

The Warner Brothers programming rep. couldn't come up with an airdate
for Deb Duchene's episode "Chill Ride" for Kung Fu yet, but they took
my name and promised to call back. (Yeah, hope springs etenal,
right?)

And, for those in the Scottsdale area who don't already know, our TCI
franchise will begin SCIFI Channel on June 1st. - this after months of
saying they couldn't do it. Thanks to the "AZ Crusaders for the

just tinking_

one thing that struck me as a little inconsistent was the way
transitional death was played out. in "francesca" there was
talk about reincarnation. but i thought once a vampire
died s/he was doomed to damnation. at least that was what
i was led to believe in that one ep....where Nick played with
a machine that made him brain-dead, and he ended up in
that desert, where he could either be damned by going through
to lighted gate, OR be eternally stuck in that desert [until Nat
saved him with good ol' fashioned rat poison!].
so, if this ep is accurate, then isn't reincarnation [in fran's case]
impossible? or am i just missing a big piece of pie?

Hi all,
I was just thinking about that post someone did about Jim Henson writing
FK. Nick would be Kermit and Piggy would be Nat (or Janette if were going
by her need for fashion). However, I have a different take. If Henson
wrote FK, I think it would be more like Labrynth with LC as the David
Bowie demon character and Nick as the one who has to escape him.

I'm not sure this is what I'm looking for in a Nick-LaCroix faction.
There's a lot of tormenting going on, yes, but there's also a lot of
love (non-erotic love) happening.

>I also want to start a loop like that.

I'm not telling you not to start your loop if you want to, but is it really
necessary to have that kind of discussion off the main lists? The
Nick-LaCroix relationship is so crucial to Forever Knight, that can't most
of the discussion about it take place on the lists as a whole? That is,
unless you really want to concentrate on the tormenting stuff and think most
people wouldn't be interested. And even if you think people wouldn't be
interested, you could be wrong. For instance, I enjoy reading Amy's posts
about Light Cousins and Fleur Booster whether or not I see things exactly
her way. I enjoy reading another point of view. It's stimulating and adds
to my own view of things.

>For instance, LC & Nick have been together for almost 800 years exclusively
>as a family with Janette ...it must have been something terrible that Nick
>noticed LC doing that made him pull away.

Katja posted a reply to this that gave another point of view about it. With
an e-mail loop, you lose the point of view of other people who might be able
to cast more light on exactly what you're wondering about.

>I think we will name it *Cousins of the Knight*.

I do think this was a very clever name, and if you seriously want to
concentrate on the tormenting aspect of things, it makes perfect sense.
But I still don't think it's what I'm looking for. Even though the
relationship between LaCroix and Nick is unequal, as parent-child
relationships typically are, I'm looking for a name that treats them more
as equals, so that we maintain respect for both of them. Also, I think
that as Nick gets older, the relationship becomes slightly more equal.
Again, that's typical of parent-child relationships. It doesn't
necessarily become equal in a straight line, but that's the trend.

Someone had a really good post, about the relationship being both a parent-
child and a friendship relationship, sometimes loving, but with all the
strains that naturally occur in those kinds of relationships. (The person
said it a whole lot better than I'm saying it here.) I would like a faction
that sees the Nick-LaCroix relationship in that way. I'm leaning toward a
name like Eternal Friends or Eternal Bonds.

Yep that would have been my post about how I wanted to belong to a faction
that nor only explored the Nick & Lucian friendship, but also one that
explored the family ties they must feel, knowing that there is not only love
within the family, but a lot of torment, jealousy, petty arguing and other

The short answer:

We are people who are cruel enough to create scenarios in which LC would
wear this most incongruous of undergarments.

The longer answer:

Mind you, we might not really want to SEE this happen in real life. Trust
me -- I am a black silk boxer shorts kinda gal. You don't actually have to
want to SEE LC in a thong to belong to the Throng. You just have to like
imagining it -- whether for humorous purposes or libidinous. ;)

Margie was wondering about the Lacroix-Nick scenes I mentioned.
They're not all in one contiguous scene, but are snippets from Nick's
first night as a vampire shown as flashbacks in various shows.

Nick says he's Lacroix's slave : it's either in Black Buddha or
Killer Instinct (I just can't remember the context right now, and
those are the two episodes I've watched most recently).

It will take me a couple of days, but I'll hunt around for references

Subject: Factions Fractioned

After reading about the proposed various "splits" loops regarding
the Nick and LC relationship in the last few days' digests, I find
myself wondering what is with all this desire to have factions,
fractions, fractions of factions, etc. In the case of "adult" type
musing, I can see where someone might want to form a private loop
for that since forkni-l isn't geared really for explicit talk about
characters on the show (innuendo now...;) ). Some people already
have myriad faction/fraction names in their sigs. Is it just a desire
to have *all* your interests labelled?

Like Margie Hammet, I wonder where all the discussion will go on this
list if there are all these "private loops" set up. It seems that
lately a lot of the only discussion on this list is discussion about
the latest up and coming faction/fraction. Don't get me wrong; if
people want to form interest groups of their own, then fine. I just
would hope that such activity wouldn't mean that discussion of the
show would trickle away on this list as a result.

I've loved Nick from the beginning, hence the "forever Knightie" in
my sig. I appreciate what the other characters (present and past)
have brought to the show, but I haven't felt any need to embrace any
other faction/fraction. But I still want to discuss LC's evil :),
the relationship between Nick and LC (or Nick and Janette, or Nick
and Nat, etc.), and would hope that those involved with setting up
private loops won't save all the juicy discussions for those loops.

At times, I think this is true. From the very beginning of the series there
was a sense of this kind of attraction. It's MHO that eps like BMV and NiQ
move the relationship well beyond that level. No, Nick doesn't come right out
and say "I love you." As much as I would like to have heard him do so, it
isn't necessary for me to believe that he DOES love her.

I'm no expert (is there such as thing as a 'love' expert?), but, I find the
clues for how they feel for each other in many ways. In DBTLOFM, Nick drops
off a gift for Nat (the first gesture we see in the series) and when Schanke
calls him on it he says, "We're just friends." Schankes reaction was
priceless, it was the 'Yeah, Right! NOT!' reaction most such proclamations
bring. Towards the end of the first season we get OTL. Nick is jealous! Not
just overprotective. Jealous, in a sexual kind of way. Natalie obviously
wants more from their relationship, the things she says in response to her
flashbacks are proof enough for me.

By the second season and BMV, we know that Nick thinks he knows what women
want "A man who's not afraid to show their love for them." He sets about
doing just that long BEFORE he remembers there is a danger to Nat from
LaCroix. He loves Nat. He needs Nat. I'm not convinced he is able to
emotional separate the two or that he should. As fiction goes, this is pretty
good stuff (hence this current discussion).

By the third season and NiQ, the love and caring he has for Nat is so deeply
ingrained in him that even without his memory he knows that there is
something 'very special' between them. Nick loves Nat. Nat loves Nick. Angst
exists, fear exists, danger exists for them in the relationship. Again, great
fiction and dramatic devices.

Just MHO. In my fiction, as has always been the case, they will love each
other.

Well, that's it right there. ;) The Unnamed Faction is not by definition an
"adult" faction. But the Unnamed Loop is an adult loop. I started that
loop because it's not exactly *legal* for us to talk about some things on
forkni. ;)

Factions and fractions come and go. Loops come and go. Time will only

Subject: NetRatings Musings....

First, my thanks to Jeff Standish for keeping the stats.

I just visited Jeff's NetRatings web site and copied the list of eps for FK
as they were ranked, numerical rating wise, from Best to Worst.

It struck me that with all the vocal dislike of the third season eps as they
compare to the first two seasons, the third season does best of the three in
the ratings.

Of the top five ranked, four are from the third season. Of the top ten, five
of from the third season. Of the top twenty, seven are from the third season.
I would say that the third season is just full of wonderfulness by this list.

I have included the top 10 list for your viewing pleasure (and so you
wouldn't have to take my word for it).

Rating Episode Name
------ ------------

9.35 313 Fever
9.30 310 Night in Question
9.22 320 Ashes to Ashes
9.22 311 Sons of Belial
9.22 218 The Fix
9.15 219 Curiouser and Curiouser
9.09 118 Feeding the Beast
8.95 223 Be My Valentine
8.88 116 Only the Lonely
8.74 314 Dead of Night

Of particular interest to me is the nature of the above list. What do you all
think about this group of eps? What they share? Is there a theme or thread
that link these eps more closely than the others? I thought so. That's why
this post. I just thought you all might find this as interesting as I did.

Cheers,

Absolutely, I agree, I'm glad Sandra brought this up. I can't tell if
Sandra thinks I'm trying to set up a private loop, or if she's saying she
agrees with me about the dangers of having all these private loops.

To try to make it clear about what I want, I _do_ want a way to have my
major interests labelled like other people do. I want people to have
some sense, at least, of where I'm coming from in some of my posts,
especially when they relate to those major interests. Most people put
at least an individual character's name in their signature. I don't do that,
because although I like Nick, Nat, and LaCroix all very much, I am not a
"follower" of any of them, and I like the relationships in Forever Knight
even more than any individual character.

There already is a faction for one of the relationships that I especially
like, the N&NPackers. There's a couples faction for Nick and LaCroix,
called the Unnamed Faction. When Tippi asked about a couples faction for
Nick and LaCroix, she literally meant a couples faction, implying an
erotic relationship (although she's not trying to say that eroticism is
the only aspect of the relationship, of course). I misunderstood what
she meant at the time, but she has made it clear now.

I think that LaCroix loves Nick, although not in an erotic way, and that
Nick loves LaCroix, at least some of the time, and again, not in an erotic
way. There is no faction that expresses that. I would like there to be
one.

I do not at all want a private e-mail loop associated with such a faction,
unless it's for something like deciding on an affiliation pin, if such
a faction should get started. I want any discussion to stay on the list,
where everyone who is interested can join in, whether they are in the
faction or not. Does that clear it up?

Since the SCI-Fi Channel is broadcasting FK at a reasonable time, I'm
hoping that our following will grow...as for the FKFIC-L I thought that
we were going to loose it because the list owner was graduating and
moving on, am I mistaken (I hope so). I was hoping that someone else
