Hi, all!
Been nomail for a while due to RL barging in (forgot to set my option to NO
LIFE, or whatever it was that someone suggested).
I also thought that the first ep of Kindred wasn't that great, but the 2nd one
was better. Although I just about died when they went to the nightclub and
flashed the scene to the entrance:
"HAVEN" in big Celtic lettering
I thought "The Haven? THE HAVEN!!!!! How dare they!" Then I thought about
this some more. Not only do they have a nightclub called "The Haven," but it's
run by a female vamp who seems to be trying to emulate Janette (and failing
miserably), but they also have a vamp on the police force whose partner is a
human who knows about vamps, but doesn't know that his partner is one. Sound
familiar??
When I think about it, the only thing I really like about it so far is the main
guy, who seemed to show a little more charisma in the 2nd ep (but still doesn't
hold a candle to Nick).
However, like Don said, it usually takes more than 1 or 2 eps for something to
really grow on you. So I'll give it some more time.

Only saw one and a half 1st season eps, with quite a time span in between
(found
out later it had been off the air for a while). It didn't completely grab me
then, but did stick in my brain, and I began looking for it again (the station
kept moving it around so it wasn't easy to find). The next ep I saw was the
first one of the 2nd season, and I was completely hooked, and have seen every
one since then *at least* twice. So it didn't take me very long, anyway.

I'll leave that one to my good friend Rebecca (who is a Dark
Knightie...which means she, and the other Dark Knighties, like Nick
better when he is acting like a vamp instead of angsting)

Indicates when the author is grinning. You can also toss in a v,b,w or e.
Which stand for very, big, wicked or evil, respectively.

Obligatory Forever Knight. It is usually used to adhear to the list rule
of FK related posts only. An author will add an ObFK to the end of a post
to keep Jamie from finger wagging.
And I know there are a whole host of others, like: LOL (laugh out loud),
ROTFLMAO (roll on the floor laughing my <tail> off), OTOH (on the other
hand), BTW (by the way), that have been confusing the hell out of my poor
sister (hi Kira!). And that list pretty much goes on for a while.
And then there is also the fact that each episode gets reduced to
initails very quickly too.

lately, so actually there are really a dozen other factions, that I
haven't even begun to name. So, not to be accused of omitting anyone,

No problem, Dotti! I'm the kind of person who is just thrilled by the idea
that she's the first to think of something! However, I'm sure that this
question must have been asked as second season began. Did a year pass
(for the characters) between LYTD and KI, or do all the episodes just spread
out over four years? I simply cannot imagine that it has not occurred to
anyone else that there ought to be a whole year out there waiting to be
filled by carefully-timed fanfic... :) On the other hand, I seem to be the
most vocal of the continuity-obsessed... :)

Oh yea, I just rewatched that one this afternoon-that was awesome. However,
I still think one of the sexiest thing Nick ever did was talk on the radio -
in Dead Air. That voice - it only lasted a few seconds - but any longer than
that and they would have had to mop me off the floor!!

I wonder if we're having so much trouble coming up with a faction name for
Nick&LC because their relationship is so complex? Most of the relationships
on FK are complex, but maybe Nick's and LC's is more so. With that in mind,
how about just keeping it, The Unnamed Faction?

I agree. The first ep had so many glitches and problems in it (such as a
corpse that blinked!), and all they could talk about was "The Masquerade"
which I'm sure has been broken, etc. The second was a lot better--but
still not FK!
But they had:
1. A bar where a beautiful woman who (in ep 1) had a french accent,
called--get this--Haven
2. A "good cop" who doesn't know his partner is a vampire
3. A vampire with a Hispanic name (Julian Luna) who keeps falling for humans
4. A Dolph Lungren clone (OK, so it doesn't relate to Forever Knight)
They had several other FK refs, but I don't remember...but it's not
*totally* bad, it's just Dallas with vampires instead of rich people.

Oh, my. I've had Sci-Fi for three years now, and their times are always
Eastern. Which means, if I have my time zones right, that FK on Sci-Fi
will be playing OPPOSITE HL on USA on the west coast. That is unfair
competition! Anybody who watches TV at those times, who might like FK, is
probably already watching HL anyway. I didn't discover FK until they
(temporarily) stopped airing opposite each other on my syndies...

Really, Amy, it never crossed my mind (and I guess a lot others) to worry
about the year in between. Probably because, even though there were no new
eps we were busy watching anyway, and a lot of us just got started during
the year hiatus so to us no time had passed really. That's probably why.
They were continually showing first season eps so a lot of us got involved
during that year off. So, when the 2nd season started it just flowed right
in without a problem.
Glad you weren't offended - definitely Knightie angst!!

I saw the pilot, and loved it. I can remember hearing it was supposed to
be a pilot, and KQT that I am, realizing it had about zero chance of ever
making it to series stage because I liked it. I was also staying up
watching CTAPT even though I'd have to be up for swim practice at 5:30am
the next morning, so you could call me pretty hooked. I swore off the
show when they brought LaCroix back because it just seemed like a plot
hole the size of Montana, and I remembered what happened to War of the
Worlds when they made a lot of changes. I messed up big time and missed
some really great stuff, stuck with things for season three, and have
generally liked it.
As for the other show, I'll watch it again, and I really don't watch
network TV, so I guess it was somewhat good, but not anywhere near FK levels.

Hate to admit it (seem to be saying that a lot lately :) but I thought DK
was kind of... um.... <gulp> stupid. But, I decided to give Forever Knight a
3rd, 4th, and 5th chance, and found that all of the episodes past Dark Knight
were wonderful. There have been a few exceptions here and there, but all in
all I have loved every single ep!!! But then, very few shows FIRST eps are
ever that great, because they have a lot of things to explain. I think in
part the reason I liked Kindred part 2 is because I hadn't seen part one and
was trying to figure the entire thing out!!! <g>

Here is Portland, OR we see HL twice on USA, at 5pm and midnight. Sci-fi
usually airs episodes twice so if I miss it or mess up my tape I can catch

Once upon a time--or maybe twice, there was a paradise called
Pepperland.
It lay eighty thousand leagues beneath the sea [possibly somewhere
near the final resting place of the Titanic--ed.].
The principal natural resources of Pepperland were--and still
are--sun . . . music . . . laughter . . . and love. (7)

. . . if history teaches us anything, it is that whenever there is
something decent and lovable--such as Pepperland [or Perkulators or
vampires who want salvation or nice, friendly lists like
FORKNI-L--ed.]--there are always hostile forces lurking around who cannot

Which brings us to the grievous story of the sneak attack on
Pepperland by its enemies.
A ghastly crew, led by a music-loather, allergic to love [probably

Apple Bonkers, Snapping Turtle Turks, The Butterfly Stomper, the Hidden
Persuaders, and worst of all . . .
THE DEADLY FLYING GLOVE--a jet propelled rocket-powered, radar-equipped,
supersonic nasty Thing.(17)

When The Beatles came to save Pepperland in 1968, disguising themselves as
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, it was believed that they had
successfully conquered the BLUE MEANIES and returned Pepperland to its
blissful, happy condition. In fact, the John Lennon character engaged THE
DEADLY FLYING GLOVE in battle, seemingly defeating it by merely singing
"All You Need Is Love." It appeared that the BLUE MEANIES were
vanquished forever. However . . .
Recently, I received a communique from Max, chief assistant to the CHIEF
BLUE MEANIE, requesting my assistance. The Chief Blue Meanie is extremely
upset that certain members of the FORKNI-L list have been brazenly
*borrowing* his DEADLY FLYING GLOVE without his permission. The Blue
Meanies, with their entire army of Apple Bonkers, Snapping Turtle Turks,
The Butterfly Stomper, and Hidden Persuaders, are prepared to do battle if
further violations of the Chief Blue Meanie's proprietorship of THE GLOVE
persist.
It is hereby resolved that all future services of THE DEADLY FLYING GLOVE,
including finger-pointings and poundings of Perkulators gone berzerk,
angsting Cousins, and overly idealistic Knighties, must be approved by the
Chief Blue Meanie.
