Oh, boy, is she ever going to be sorry she asked for this.... The
following poem isn't about list rules, it's just a poem about the URL

  List Rules URL: The Poem
    A verse inspired by <http://cac.psu.edu/~jap8/FK/FK.html>
(Please blame Jamie -- she dared me to write it!)

h-t-t-p and then colon slash slash
  Continue with c-a-c dot p-s-u
And now one more dot, e-d-u, and a slash
That squiggle's a tilde, I hope that you knew.

Now j-a-p-eight and a slash will be found,
Which reminds me of JADFE, where "slashes" abound.
Now a big F-K slash, and another F-K
(Bad poetry's not a career that will pay.)
We end this sad verse with dot h-t-m-l
Please Rebecca don't send me Blue Meanies from Hell!

Ta-da! <ducking> <running as fast as my legs will carry me> ;^)

Note: newbies who don't understand the connection between JADFE and
slashes can e-mail me off-list... ;^) If you want to know what the heck

If we're talking sexiest Nick scenes I vote for:
1) nuzzling Nat infront of LaCroix in BMV
2) nuzzling Nat infront of the fireplace and in his dream in NIQ
3) the just short of sex on his feet with the female vampire in SOB

of course, I haven't seen any of the first season's shows or about half of
the second season. Hopefully the SCI-Fi channel will solve that problem for
me.

It took me a minute to realize that OtL in this context is "Only the Lonely"
and *not* "Outside the Lines," so anyone who came in just in time for 3rd
season may not have immediately made the connection either. (I actually
considered going back and *watching* OtL the latter to search for this

Pardon the cross-post. A bit o' fiction for you ladies:

Out of the indiscernable, prevaling haze he emerged, statuesque, the shadows
of his silloutte catching her face as it lit up from its immobile state.
She hastily awakened, despite the overwhelming fatigue she felt enveloping her
body.
Th-Thump. Th-Thump.
"I have seen you before--in my dreams..."
"Perhaps", he said. "Maybe I am your dream, a mere reflection of your
imagination before you."
"Its too early to philosophize, or is it too late?" she said. "You're here."
"Shhhh...." he whispered, as he held up his hand.
She fell back. An overpowering desire aroused in her, but for what she was at
a loss to tell.
OR THINK.
The stream-of-consciousness that usually ripped through her mind with images,
thoughts, ideas and concepts...
Th-thump. Th-thump.
Prostate to a higher god.
Gush...gush...gush...a feeling of absolute exstacy burst from inside her, out
of no where, coursing through her veins, filling her with absolute joy, she
felt heaven for the first time, even as the room grew darker...
Th-thump. Th-thump.

The sun rose, and she awoke as the grand ball of fire reared its head in the
East.
Drained and exhausted.
He had taken alot out of her. It had never been this good before, certainly
not with a stranger in the middle of the night who appeared out of nowhere.
Who was he?
Th-thump. Th-thump.
It didn't matter. She was content, nevertheless.
And that bright sun, why did its rays so violently tear at her face?"
So she drew the blinds.

On April 3, Allison, the perky Knightie, quoted some dialogue
from That Other Show:
>"We were down for Stevie. You know what I'm saying?"
>Gangrel chick

I believe that actress should be nominated for an Emmy RIGHT
NOW for her convincing portrayal of a woman of the 'hood. Of
course, all the actors on that show are so great, they should
all be nominated for every award there is: Emmy, People's
Choice, MTV, Golden Globes ... ;)

"Kindling: The Disgraced" (as Cousin Susan calls it) is the
vampire show that the USA Network deserves. It has all the
elements they wanted: a brainless, talentless, attractive
cast; lots of unnecessary gunfire & explosions; lots of sex;
lots of women in lingerie. This show would fit in perfectly
between the episodes of wrestling & USA's "original" telefilms.

And now my FK question--

Would anyone tell me what episode of FK the famous "like
lichen to a stone" quote came from? And also provide the full
quote? I almost died laughing when the one guy on Kindling
(2nd ep) started saying: "You cling to your [whatever he
said] like a ... raft ..." I was SO disappointed when the FK-
related phrase wasn't uttered. :)

Thanks.

Subject: Nick's Search For A Cure.

When Nick's search for a cure is discussed, there is often a comment on how
easily he becomes discouraged, that he doesn't have the patience for a long
term attempt. I haven't seen the first season at all, but in the second and
third season episodes I have seen, I can only remember two attempts he's
made. One was with Hans and his electrical treatments and the other was with
some "doctor" who, I think, was trying to drain all the vampiric blood out of
him.

In both these cases, his attempts were interrupted by events outside his
control. I'm sure he's eager for a cure. He takes incredible risks. I'm
sure he'd love an "instant cure". Who wouldn't? But particularly with Hans
(the other guy was basically killing him and Nick needed to be rescued, as I
recall), if tragedy hadn't interrupted, can we be sure how long he would have
hung on, trying to...what, "galvanize" himself back to life? Are there other
episodes I haven't seen that show his inablity to stick with a cure attempt?
I know he is impatient at times with how slowly things are going with Nat,
but expressing impatience doesn't mean he's going to quit.

Just curious,

How many of us wanted a one-for-one FK ripoff to come and steal the

show. Not loving it yet, but liking it. I do not think it is going
to have the gothic feel of FK, and there does not seem to be anyone

the show some time.

I do have a question. How many of you out there, who started

Someone who didn't just receive their copy of the *uncut* HF will have to

This actually happened to me today. My sister saw me at the computer reading

Number one.
She asked how did I find out about the FK lists.

Which I couldn't answer because I actually can't remember. But I do know
that I used all my first 10hrs free on aol because of all those FK Webpages
and the Ger conference.

I told her that maybe she could find a list that she would like to join,
which she answered.

"No thanks, those lists have taken over your life."

But before she could finish I sent my Blue Meanies after her! Actually all
of this is true except for the blue meanies part. Has anyone had similar
incidents happen to them?

There are two Lichen quotes:

The first one was in POTM, LaCroix says to Nick after Janette leaves him in
the flashback "This has nothing to do with love, this is about moving on.
Immortals cannot cling like lichen to a stone."

The second is from QOH, Nick tells Gweneth (sp?) "You cling to your paganism
like lichen to a stone." BTW, GWD is pretty sexy in this flashback, go
rewatch it if you can...ooohhhhh. <running to get my drool bib>.

That's it. The Lichen stories. Just call me an archivist.

Oh no Jamie....I sense another round of "Jamie's-reverting-back-to-her-
Cousinly-tendencies" coming up after this one....

And, BTW, how the hell do you pronounce "virgule," anyway?

Delurking for a moment. The same thing has happened to me. The only
difference is that I was totally consumed by another show until I joined
this list now all I basically think about is Forever Knight and reading
my email messages (occasionally I do remember to study for my classes or
actually do some work).

Well, since you're the first one to ever ask about it, where do you want to
put it? I would simply assume there's a year we just weren't able to look
at. The time passed, and they are current, so that's the way I'd look at it
if I thought about it, but I never did.

My roomate comes home from a day of classes ( FULL day of classes) only
to see me sitting in front of the computer, which is, incidentally,
exactly where I was when she left this morning, and asks, "Aren't you
supposed to be at work?"

And after I tell her that I just couldn't face going to work today (mostly
after discovering that I had 176 messages in my mailbox when I woke up),
she says: "You've been on e-mail ALL DAY!!?? You are *such* a freak!!"

And walks away laughing....

<sigh> Oh well, at least I'm in good company. :)

I just reread my message back to Amy and it sounded really snotty. I didn't
mean it too, I really meant to ask how she looked at it, since she was the
first one to bring it up to my knowledge, no one had mentioned so I had no
idea. I hope you didn't take it snotty, it just sort of sounded that way
and I couldn't stop it as I was sending it!

I know exactly how you feel. Since I joined the list early this week my

Hi,
I believe the "lichen" quote came from AMPH in response to people's
responses to the fact that the meteor could destroy all.

OK, just one more comment about The Other Show (and how it relates to FK)
and then I swear I'll shut up about it.

From Episode 2 --

Julian Luna to Frank Kohanek: "You cling to your moral world like..."

No, he didn't finish this line in the typical FK fashion! ;^) He said,
"You cling to your moral world like it was a life raft."

On FK, of course, "clinging" is always "like lichen to a stone." :^)
