We thought we'd see Ger in tights. We got something better than tights! To list just a few of the outfits he wore: -- long brown wool coat, rubber pumpkin head, funny nose & glasses -- tight black leather jacket -- form-fitting undershirt with tuxedo front drawn on it with a black magic marker, cotton shorts and black knee-socks and sneakers, swim cap, and nose plugs (which he kept on for the entire scene as he delivered his lines) -- gorgeous loose white shirt with open neck.... <happy sigh> -- barbeque apron with boxer shorts (and only boxer shorts) underneath (for those who want to know, the shorts had cherries on them) There were many more outrageous costumes and unique interpretations of the roles... not the least of which was the cross-dressing Gremio as portrayed by David Ferry. :^D I went all three nights and laughed hysterically all three nights. Every night was different. *All* of the actors, including Ger, were absolutely fantastic. Some of us have already scheduled a trip to Toronto in two years if Patrick Tucker's Original Shakespeare Company does another play at the next du Maurier Festival -- regardless of who the actors are! While I'm glad to be back, it was tough *not* having another performance of "Shrew" to look forward to last night. :^( * Allison Percy, perky Knightie percy91@w....... * * "What's this? A sleeve? So I thought this is a great opportunity for a party. I will be holding an FK party for the last episode "Last Knight" on Saturday, May 18th, in my Suite at the Marriot. The hotel is the: Marriott Residence Inn 000 Xxxxxxx Xx. Room 0000 Xxxxxxx, XX 00000 (000) 000-0000 There will be carpools heading down from Mass and there is a shuttle bus from various locations in RI. I can also pick some people up who are in relative shooting distance. I have a VCR here and copies of seasons 1, 2 and 3. I also have lots of extras such as Air Wolf, Commercials, Deadly Harvest, Ghost Mom, Other Women's Children, various TV shows with FK Cast members, and the blooper reel. For those who haven't been to a San Francisco Bay area party - I am also known as the Catering Cousin. My suite has a full kitchen and I will provide all the food. I am open to requests. People are welcome to bring Sleeping bags and stay the night. Alternately, there are over a dozen motels and hotels within the immediate area (I am very close to TF Green Airport). Unfortunately, the Marriott is currently booked for that night, but if people would like, I can get them to put me on a waiting list for additional rooms (MetLife rate is $80/night) and they will save the first cancelation for us. The rooms have a queen size bed and a queen size sleep sofa as standard - larger suites have more beds. Please R.S.V.P. so I can get an approximate head count. Of course, all guests are welcome. It took me a few tries to work out how to use chopsticks, even though I'd seen them used by other people. Apart from the fact that Nick probably doesn't hang around mortal dinner parties much, there is the fact that eating implements have changed in design and use over space and time. How many people on this list realise that forks originally only had two prongs and were used for stabbing food rather than scooping it up? Or that up to around 1800 table knives were broad and round at the tip and used for conveying food to the mouth? Eating peas with one's knife was once considered socially acceptable. As for french fries - they're finger food. Even if they aren't familiar to Nick, the method of eating them is - which probably explains why he keeps choosing them when he forays into mortal cuisine. :-) My FoDly contribution, Christine Hawkins c.hawkins@n....... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 29 Apr 1996 18:40:26 -0700 From: Heather Thornburg <penni@t.......> Subject: Re: FK: Schedule On Mon, 29 Apr 1996, Linda Edwards wrote: > I was wondering if some kind soul might have the schedule for the > remaining episodes, specifically, I would like to know when JANE DOE > will be repeated. I'm serious. [snip] At a slight tangent to this topic, my friends and I were discussing the way FK had become rather grim and humorless in the 3rd season. We were debating whether this had been a result of USA ( the company) taking over the series, and were speculating that television in the US (the country) tended to be either drama *or* comedy, and that the series had become Americanized. Or at least it seemed that way to our Australian eyes. And turning this topic around a few more degrees, my friends and I have noticed the difference between the ways Australian and American fans react to episodes - the American fans giving a more favourable response to sentimental relationship oriented episodes, while Australian fans take a grittier, blackly humorous approach. The also bears on the "Americanizng" of the show in the third season. No international flames intended - just some observations. I'd be interested in other people's comments on this topic! That's also something called copyright infringement. You can be sure that if Paragon/TriStar/Sony heard of it, they would probably sue. It's one thing to make a copy of a tape for a friend for the cost of the blank tape. It's quite another thing to profit from it. If someone contacts you, offering to make copies of episodes for anything more than the cost of a blank tape, DON'T ACCEPT. This would be someone who is interested in taking advantage of a fan's desire to see the show. They should be likened to a vulture waiting for easy pickings. There have been rumors of some vultures contacting people, offering to make tapes for something like $150 a season. DON'T ACCEPT. You'd be far better off asking for an episode or two at a time from friends or the list. Don't forget to write to TriStar and Sony about getting Forever Knight released on video tape. There is a market out there and we should let them know about it. Don't let some shady character make a lot of money off you just because you want to see Forever Knight. There are a lot of list friends out there who probably would be willing to help. Just be patient. Lana lgs@i....... Maybe he'd seen people do that with spaghetti before, and thought it would be real fun to try it. That would fit with his mood in the ep. And it's easier to eat spaghetti that way than by trying to scoop it up. I know. Spaghetti's my favorite food. >As for french fries - they're finger food. Nick, still the 13th century guy in some ways. I did notice that in NiQ, he was real awkward dealing with that chicken noodle soup. Maybe watching people eat soup just isn't as interesting as watching people eat spaghetti, so he didn't quite know how to do it. Should we write to People Magazine and tell them how disappointed we are? After all, I voted for Ger 'cause I think he's a good-looking guy. They could make it up to us if they'd put a nice pic of Ger in their magazine. (I'd even buy their magazine if they did that.) Anyone know the address for writing to People? Of course, I'm gonna feel awfully silly if I write to them, and they tell me Ger's own publicist sent them that picture. I've also heard that he wanted more of a raise than they were willing to give him. It's not true that USA wanted him out. Otoh, it seems to be true that USA thought Deborah Duchene wasn't what Deb described as "hip enough." Presumably this means sexy, which confirms my suspicion that USA wouldn't know class if it bit them on the neck. (Ok, I thought of another bite site, but this is a family list. <g>) Deb was justifiably insulted when they tried to reduce her contract from regular to recurring. They had broken her contract by doing so, and she refused to come back under their terms. I have also heard, but do not know for a fact, that CATRA wouldn't let the production company reduce a regular to a recurring while the original contract was in force. I've heard that USA wanted Natsuko Ohama out and that she was frustrated with the one-note role she was given. Anyway, it's my understanding that she wasn't asked back and didn't really want to come back. Cousin Lisa -- "That will be trouble."
