What the tour books call the tallest free-standing structure in North America (if not the world)? It's in Toronto, and it IS pretty cool, isn't it? Definitely adds tremendously to the ambience of the city, and seems to have become a real part of the local identity (sorta like the Space Needle in Seattle--what is it about towers, anyway?? <G>). FK usually just uses it for scenery, but the penultimate scene of last season's "Baby, Baby" actually takes place at the top of it. And I'll bet many a member of the list at the "Shrewthering" this weekend will make a pilgrimage to it. Cheers! There is a scene, written but never filmed, that has Lacroix going into a church at the height of the asteroid madness, looking up at the cross (pretty painful activity for a vampire, even one of Lacroix's great age), and asking one question: "Why?" I asked Nigel at Anglicon the reason for leaving this out, and he said they just ran out of time. In between Doctor's vists, physical therapy 3x a week and the FK loop, I have been trying (really I have!) to get the interview that I have with James Parriott, FK's producer, written up. It will give us some insight into FK's creation, JP's role as a producer, Deb's leaving and his reaction to the SciFi Channel airrings. I'm getting there! Should be done in the next few days and then I want to run it by him for last minute clarification etc. For a lot of people, I'm sure that some of the information will be old news, but since we did have quite an influx of new people to the list, I hope that this will help to add to their knowledge and understanding of FK. So as not to take up any more room with another post, I just want to say Bravo! to Lisa for her LaCroix post! You said in 2 paragraphs what it would have taken me two pages to explain! I believe that it would be important to him that she be self sufficient and be capable of making her way, then, I think he would cater to her. Sounds contradictory, huh? Hmm, well, its just that I believe its important to him that vampires be true to their nature, therefore, he would teach her to hunt and probably enjoy seeing her learn her craft. Possibly picking her victims for her, etc. and then when he was sure that she would be able to handle herself, he would "rein her in" so to speak, lest she get too many independent ideas! If LaCroix did worship Mithras, how ironic...considering his current dis- dain to Nick's cowblood diet! Then again, LaCroix did seem to kinda relish his little drink of the stuff in 'Dark Knight,' I had always just thought he was hamming it up to make a point to Nick. YKYB...when you are reading fan fiction for another show and you recognize an author who has also written stories for the FK list. You notice that the author has also been RWWFK... since she often has the heroine hit the hero in the arm, reminiscent of the early Nat and Nick, even though it is a bit out of character :). And another YKYB...when you are stuck on the eight floor of the Public Health building (the true Ivory Tower) listening to a group of specialists at a small conference on Intelligence, and you really take notice when they talk about "using the Raven." Trying to imagine these stuffy older men (and one or two women) in the Raven, you finally realize they are talking about the Ravens Test of Progressive Matrices. Well, at least they had 100% of my attention for a few seconds. BTW, I've read vague things about Catherine Disher having a baby. When was that? Is she married? Since some vampires besides Nick apparently have jobs/careers - the TV technician in the episode with the Enforcers, Janette with the Raven, the archeologist who tricked Nick into bringing his mortal archeologist friend to a dig, Felix Twist (sp.?), who is apparently some form of accountant for Nick - why couldn't there be one who is a therapist? He/she could do a booming business what with parenting anxieties, angsty types like Nick and Urs, even handle multple personalities. :) 2. When LaCroix moved to Toronto, and apparently become the leading citizen of the Community, whom did he replace? Janette, because of the shelter of the Raven? Whom did she replace? Is there total acceptance of LaCroix or more tolerance through fear? Or is there a built-in heirachy in the vampire Community which places the oldest in charge? Would that mean if an older vampire showed up, LaCroix would have to step down? - Has any of this been explored through missing scenes or fan fic? 3. In response to the thread about how the actors look on FK, I must agree with the person who said the actors are more interesting looking, although certainly very attractive, than the garden variety Hollywood types. I first started watching during the 3rd season, and my reaction to GWD was a) _good_ actor, b) handsome man, and c) I could be wrong but he looks like he spends his weekends doing little kid soccer and coaching it if time allows. (He's certainly hunky as Nick!) And, having (not) seen the video of bloopers of course (since it doesn't exist ;)), I feel pity for Ger. He's very funny and silly; a joy when his kids are young, but a total embarassment when they're teens - spoken from experience, ours is now 20, thank God! 4. Speaking of tapes, does anyone know the address of Lisa Lukus, the wonderful person responsible for my ability to watch the first two seasons? I've wanted to write to her but have apparently deleted any evidence of her existence! Please e-mail me privately if you know her! 5. Lastly, I know this was probably debated when NiQ was first shown, but I did not belong to the lists then. Why does the concensus seem to be that all that they did was kiss? I would think Nat would have said "Last night I thought we made progress" not "Last night I thought we'd won." Not vamping out during a kiss could simply mean a little more control, not victory. I felt Nick's comment "We're together _now_ ... after last night" seemed a little strong, too, for just a kiss. Nat could have been on the sofa because I could see Nat needing to think afterward - if they became lovers - and she would not want to disturb Nick's rest, as his doctor, because he was still recouperating. Nick could have been dreaming of the real event and had it twist into the nightmare which revealed his true nature. Did anyone connected with the show ever reveal what was intented? Certainly would explain her crabbiness lately. Which is better - or worse - long posts or multiple posts? I don't want to make it hard on anyone with difficult services!! Hmmm... Now I don't know about our favorite undead, but I've found the most addictive pasttime (apart from present company, of course) is that danged card game, Magic: The Gathering. Which leads to the mental image of Nick and LaCroix, sitting in the Raven, playing Magic "for ante." Now whether or nor Nick would actually ante Natalie in a card game (and whether or not she'd let him live if he DID) is another piece of fanfic entirely.... Hi all, For anyone who will be in the LA, California area on May 18th, I'm going to have a Last Knight party. I live in Placentia which is 15 minutes north of Disneyland in Orange County. I generally start my parties at 1pm and they end when they end. In this case, it should be sometime after the episode airing. (Last one ended sometime around 3am) FK begins at 12:35 am on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Be prepared! I'm a night owl. Please RSVP at this address. cdmunoz@e....... (Cherri Munoz) Come and have fun. Also, if you are interested in coming to a party on May 11th, tell me. I would have to leave in the middle of it to go to LAX to pick up Jane Credland (the former Jane Synder). Yes, the list member from Toronto. He! He! Can't wait to meet her! <waving frantically> Hi Jane! Anyway, we would be back in time to see FK and she would be able to meet a few of you. And of course, Ribena will be served during the show. Hope to you there. Cousin Cherri <cdmunoz@e.......> Valentine, Sime/Gen, FKLFE, NATPE Strikeforce Survivor I don't WANT a new one.
