Hi, McLisa here, looking in from my good eye (the other is recovering nicely,
thanks), and answering onlist because I think a lot of people might be
interested.
If your message arrived at the listserv, and it can't be distributed to
Forkni-l, you will receive an automatic listserv message to tell you why. If you're
new to the listserv -- that includes people who've been subscribed but are
posting from a new address, or have resubscribed an old address, you will
automatically be on reserve. In that case, the message will tell you that your message
has been sent to the other listowner, Don Fasig, for approval. He will get to it as
soon as he can, but sometimes real life does cause delays. I don't get the
review messages so I can't help with this.
If you sent the message but did not receive a copy back, the first thing to do
is to wait a day. The problem may be a hold-up with your ISP, or on the
internet. You can also check to be sure that your ISP hasn't mistaken mail from
Forkni-l for spam and routed it to the wrong folder or deleted it. SOmetimes this
happens, even with Yahoo or Hotmail. If necessary, check with your ISP or look
at your virus/spam blocker settings to see how to fix this.
If you think you may have been set nomail, which can happen if an address
starts bouncing without the owner's knowing it, send a message to
"listserv@lists.psu.edu" with the text "query forkni-l" Don't put in the
quotation marks and don't use a signature. You should receive an automatic message
telling you if you are subscribed to Forkni-l and whether you are set nomail. If
you are set nomail, just send another message to the same address with the
command "set forkni-l mail" and don't use quotes or use a signature. If it still
doesn't work, you can write to me, McLisa, at mclisa@m........ I'm one of
the listowners and I can set you to mail or fix most subscription problems.
BTW, yes, it is possible not to be subscribed from the address your ISP puts on
your outgoing mail, without your realizing it. I can fix that. To do it, I'll
need to see the message you got back from the listserv.
Hoping this helps,
McLisa
