On the flip side, my friend Katie Lacroix's family pronounces it 'La-croy', but
ever since discovering FK, *she's* insisted that it's 'La-cwa'. Since
pronunciation is strictly a matter of culture and preference, most people go
along with it. Her excuse is that the French way sounds cooler. Ya, I'm sure
that's why she likes it. <G>

Amanda - you ask what
"the status of christmas was around the time
Nick was in Jerusalem? (ca 1220-1225)"

Do you mean specifically, how they celebrated Christmas in Jerusalem
itself? Only, Nick was there with the Crusades, which almost
certainly means that they celebrated in their own fashion, i.e.
European.
A quick google search brought up:
www.godecookery.com/mtales/mtales09.htm
which has a quick overview. Also, Amazon has a book available that is
actually entitled, "Medieval Christmas". Maybe you can find it in the
library or something.

During the war I searched around for a church in
Toronto that I'd heard about (not an FK filming
site, at least not that I know of) and found its
street address easy to remember:
97 Annette St.
"97" is "79" backwards, and "Annette" is a
variation of "Janette."
It's website is at www.keelestreet.ca for the
curious among us. :)

Sorry about that last post. Computer sneeze before I could complete the
message.

What I wanted to say was....perhaps, I'm mistaken, but I believe "Annette" is
a diminutive form of "Anne" (Grace) and "Janette" is a diminutive variation
of "Jeanne/Jane/Joan." (gift from God). And other than the "ette", they really
aren't related.

Teri of the Vaqueros brought to my attention that a number of Vaq war
stories were not in the War 12 archive. This situation will be fixed
ASAP.

However, that leads me to wonder if I missed other war stories. I would
appreciate it if those of you who wrote for the war would take a look
at the archive and let me know if any of your stories are missing. I
don't want the archive to be incomplete. The archive is located at

http://sky.prohosting.com/fkwar12/archive.html

And for those of you who are longing for the summaries to be replaced
on the site, that will happen this weekend at the latest. Thank you for
your patience.

...which can be traced back to Hannah. the original
bearer of that name was, i believe, the mother of the
old testament prophet Samuel.

and "Janette" is

that's the feminization of John, of course.

Fun how "Hannah" and "John", which don't sound similar
at all, mutated into names that sound so alike.
Interesting, ne?
