I think it's less the number of participants and more the overall volume of
writing done by the writers. (And maybe the War Mistress's not keeping
everyone "on topic"? Not sure if that's supposed to happen or not.)
Remember that while we are limited to 3 WAR posts per day per person, a
large faction (such as NA) might have five writers for 20 people which
means that in theory there could be 60 posts for that faction alone. Add in
the Knighties (10-20), Cousins (10-20), Raven/ettes (8-10), Vaqs (10-12?),
UF (8-12?), and DarkPerks (8-10?)... that's under 100 people and still the
possibility of huge numbers of posts to go through if you're going to read
the whole War.

That being said, my archives count approximately 630 story posts for War XI
and, unless I've mislaid them somewhere (which is not unlikely), less than
half of that for each of Wars IX and X.

On the one hand, this allows for the big build-ups to the traditional bar
fight scenes where Third Cousin Patt wreaks damage all over the place and
gets in trouble with TPTB back at the Shrine. OTOH, the quick turnaround
and large post capability allows the writers to neglect tightness of prose
in favor of getting everybody's name (and a few words about what she is
doing) into a thread.

As for me, I'm not sure if I'm going to participate this time (any
GlowWorms out there willing to play? failing that, any Die-Hards?)... but
I'd hate to see a War go by without the Vampbear misinterpreting everyone
he sees as FOOD, and there's still that "Louisa, Please Come Home" concept
niggling in the back of my head...

Thank you Danii. Not that that imagine wasn't burned
into my brain already from our previous convo's ...
now it even rhymes!

Welcome back to the list, thank you for finally
signing back up... and.. umm.. yeah.

So, anyway, I had a bit of a YKYWTMFK moment the other
day, probably inspired by the FK marathon Danii
mentioned in her post (yes, I am the Sherri to whom
she refered! yay me!), and I hadn't gotten around to
mentioning it yet.

First, a little backstory. My boss is a very strange
man. He's very fond of wearing all black, is very
pale and skinny, and always complains when he goes
outside that he's going to burst into flames (he's
from a colder climate than we have around here, and
hates the humidity).

To make things even better, his name is Nickolas
Knightly.

Yes, I too was tempted to test him with a crucifix
when I first found out his last name. And I was even
more tempted when I met his sister, who was in town
for the weekend.

Her name is Janet (which, Nickolas, being the ass that
he is, kept pronouncing Janette).

Yes, so there you have it. I have found Nick, he gave
up on being a cop and is helping people one sick
person at a time in a vitamins shop in Va. Now all
I'm waiting for is everyone's favourite Q-tip to come
wandering into the store looking for his son, and my
life will be complete.

Subject: Vampy Tigger. . . and lazy me possibly ready to war. . . maybe. . .

I could imagine LaCroix having a small vampire Tigger on the corner of
his desk when no-one is there. The fun would be seeing him scrambling to
hide it whenever he thought he heard anyone coming, as you know he'd never
cop to owning a Tigger, even a vampy one.

I've never done a war before, and am nervous about trying it for the
first time, but might if more people are needed. I'm too lazy to do tasks
like digesting posts and keeping records *sweatdrops* but I do have too much
free time for my own good, which probably helps. . .

There was a poor lass known as Urs
Who felt her mortal life was a curse
Said she wished to be dead
Ended up vamped instead
But we're glad she did-- Hello, cute nurse!

Tried to give his kid a warm, safe home
She became his vamp-mother
Wanted to be his lover
But he couldn't-- they shared a genome!

There once was a carouche named Screed
Who thought he did the world a good deed
'Cause he ate rats and mice
But he never thought twice
That exterminators disagreed

Providing school isn't hectic at thie time, I'll be playing as a Die-Hard. From
what I've read of old war posts, I can gather that there are a handful of
Die-Hards out there, including List Daddy Don Fasig, who I think is the Die-Hard
leader as well. I really look forward to the war!
