Subject: Schanke sighting

I was just watching my recording of the CSI marathon on Spike from
yesterday (I had my dad record it while I was out of town for a few
days), and guess who guest stared on one episode. You guessed it, John
Kapelos, he stared as a retired police chief for Las Vegas PD (anyone
see a connection here?). Don't get too excited FoD's, he gets whacked
in the first fifteen minutes of the episode. Plus to make a FK moment
out of it, one of the techs name is Nick. Unfortunately his last name
is not Knight, but he is good looking.

My husband scanned a movie flyer for me that he came across at work
(works in a film festival). Stars Lisa Ryder and Gary Farmer is in it
too. The movie is "Stolen Heart" (1998) but it was apparently
renamed to "North of Fargo" ... but www.imdb.com still has it listed
under "Stolen Heart". Weird. :)

If anyone wants me to email them the scanned flyer them please contact
me - off list. Total size of all pics together is 2.8MB.

Cheers!

I still have one in my closet somewhere. List shirts are always how I
find people. Just ask former listowner Jamie Randell, when I spotted her
and a few others at a Dragon*Con a few years ago. Bloody useful they are
(pun entirely intended in /this/ crowd).

And you don't have to capitalize 'list founder'. Ain't all that big of a
deal. I'd give more mad props to McLisa, for being the charming and kind
listowner we all know and love, and also to Darlin' Don Fasig for all his
hard work keeping the ship afloat. :)

Indubitably.

saw you.

We had a few. The one I saw this year is the Old Old one that basically
was in black, with red screen-printed lettering with the FK font with the
list's name (and old address), and the opening prologue printed on both
front and back. I think Jamie and company had pink(?) shirts with similar
info.

While it's up to McLisa, I personally don't see much of a problem with
someone organizing a new list t-shirt, tho I'd of course prefer it be done
at cost (i.e. no profits, or any profits donated to a worthy charity).

I might actually pay for a more expensive list t-shirt, such as a polo
shirt with embroidery, or go with an actual jacket of some kind, but
that's because I'm a list dino and feel we've been around long enough to
merit such things. But I'd never suggest that be the 'usual' sort of list
attire for everyone, cos not everyone could afford such things, and
something like a list shirt or some other list-related gear should be
reasonable so that everyone could get their grubby little mitts on them.
:)

As ever, I remain,

Subject: Character Limericks

Hi all!

While reading a limerick contest in the paper a while back, I thought it
would be rather neat to have a limerick posting here. A limerick, just in case
you are wondering, is a poem with a rhyme scale of AABBA in each five-line
stanza. This means that the first, second, and fifth lines rhyme, and the third
and fourth lines rhyme. If there are a lot of good limericks, I may create a
website to post them on.

Here are the parameters:
1) Let's keep it within the rules of the list. I'd like to keep it on this
list, but if McLisa or Don feel that it needs to be moved over to FKFIC, may it
happen.
2) The limerick can be about anything relating to Forever Knight. Character
descriptions are most encouraged, limericks about episodes, themes, character
relationships, and even subjects relating to the FK fandom are included as
well.
3) Please, keep it OK for the minors on list to read. Foreign language
(French, Latin and/or Spanish to name some) phrases are wonderful, just not the
whole poem. However, since Cockney is English, you definitely may write the
whole limerick using it.
4) Keep it to the limerick rhyme scale written above. Make sure the "A" lines
rhyme, likewise, the "B" lines.
5) Enjoy writing your limerick! If you want to send several, send in
several! I try to keep as few limits on this as possible, so that there will
be LOTS sent in.

So, have a great time writing, and have a great day!

I was watching some old FK tapes (several are starting to squeal alarmingly
whenever I rewind/FF them) and one of the music videos caught my ear. I can
understand most of the words, but I can't find it anywhere on the internet. Does
anyone know the songs used in the old videos? The name given on the tape is
Penny Kirkiles. Anyway I can get in touch with her?

Subject: Question concerning first season flashback

Hi Everyone:

Okay here's a question for that 1980 story that
I'm working on....

In the first season of FK, Nick has a flashback
to the seventeenth century where he's in a barn
with another man. The other claims to have seen
him fly and asks if he's bewitched.

This is also the guy that Nick finds hanged at
the end.

My question is--what's the guy's name? I want to
say it's Nigel but that doesn't sound right.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Sincerely,

David

Nick asks: "What ails thee, brother Matthew." So his first name is clear. I
don't think the last name was ever used. They just refered to each other as
brother+ first name.

I think it's Matthew. The episode is "Dying to Know You".

In my interpretation, Screed is just, well, Screed, and not necessarily a
typical carouche. (So in fanfic, *I* get to decide what a typical carouche might
be!) The vampire community is not well known for its tolerance and understanding
of other kinds of humans, so Nick's disdain is not necessarily based in any
facts. In my opinion, there is no reason for Jody's personality to change when
she becomes a carouche in any more drastic way than Nick changed when he became
a vampire.

Subject: DarkNN website - looking for owner

Hi ya'll. I posted a couple of weeks ago that I was looking for the owner of
the DarkNN website, but never heard anything. Does anyone know who owns the
site? Or if they are even still involved with FK stuff? And how I can get in
touch with them?

There have been quite a few excellent DarkNN stories written in the past couple
of years and I'd love to see the site updated. Most of the links to member
pages are broken as well. I realize this happens, usually when real life doesn't
allow the owner to be as actively involved with keeping up a site as they once
were - it's happened to me. And personal sites come and go (again, it's
happened to me).

I've posted this to the DarkNN list before, with no results, but I'm posting
there again. If I have no success in contacting the owner, would there be any
objection if I created an additional fanfic archive site?

Thanks!

I haven't heard from Tyra in several years. She was a talented writer herself
and I regret that she stopped writing. Last I knew she had two email aliases--
TyraMitch and Branwenwolf. She used to teach at a conservative college and
was very careful not to let it known that she wrote some of her steamier
stories... and sheDOES write some good steamy stories! Personally, I have no
objections to an additional site and would be willing to have you archive
and/or link to whatever of my stories fits your definition.

I LOVE Tyra's writing as well, and I'm also sad that she stopped. I've
attempted both emails in the past with no replies, but I'll try them again. I
know about being careful, as I'm in the same boat myself...only it's not just
the school I teach at, but my parents and church...<WG>
