I was reading my copy of the script "Hearts of Darkness" and there is
a scene that I don't remember from the show... was it not filmed...
I'll have to recheck but it was a nice homage to Schanke...

It takes place just before the fang measurement scene in the morgue.

Nat calls and asks Nick to come to the morgue alone, so he comes up
with an idea to ditch Tracy.
Tracy and Nick are sitting in the bullpen and he asks her "Hungry?"
To which she replies "Where ya going?"
He says "Johnny K's for soublaki? Want some?"
She answers "You know I hate souvlaki. I'll just grab something from
the caf." (allowing him to leave alone with no questions)

I wish they had kept it in!!! The souvlaki.... Johnny K's..... Come
on....

Subject: Website Update

I just wanted to let folks know that I've updated my website again,
particularly in regard to news about Dragon's Lair Studios.

http://www.squidge.org/~nat1228/fk.htm

Please come visit and check out my extensive links, including links to all
the previous War archives, my screen capture archives of all three seasons,
plus much more.

Also, please note that on my personal fiction page, the links no longer
work. It's going to take me a while to get that all up and running again,
as I have to reformat all the stories before reloading them. Your patience
is appreciated.

Nancy

I'm sending good thoughts that Ivan misses Florida, and everywhere
else! Maybe it'll just dissipate and blow out to sea.

Sounds great over here! We'd be fresh out of Stratford, LCA, and All
Hallow's Eve. And, for those of you that live in Florida, hurricane season would
hopefully be a thing of the past. Also, November 1st is Día de los Muertos, the
(better than Halloween, in my opinion) "day of the dead" of Mexico. (would be
cool for the Vaqueras y Vaqueros)

Have a great day!

I'd add, [he/she] " / it " Perhaps the carouche in the bushes had never
been human. !

But Lacroix talks to the carouche and says that the dog shouldn't be drained
completely as he wants to have "some sport" with it later on. Could a
non-human carouche have understood that?
Though admittedly, the sounds coming from off-screen do not sound human at
all.

Well, if we go with the theory that carouches take on behavioral aspects of
the creature from which they first feed, maybe it was something more
independent and feral than our Screed's ratsies. Rats don't seem to mind
out hanging out with others of their kind, and some people even find them
cuddly and keep them as pets. Maybe this carouche fed from a more solitary
animal. If you don't have much interaction with other humans other than to
sneak up on them and suck them dry, there's not a great deal of need for
idle chit-chat and the ol' voice does tend to sound non-human from sheer
lack of use. In fact, since Screed sort of sets the FK standard for
carouches, it would follow that they would prefer the blood of the animal
which provided their first meal with the occasional human thrown in here and
there as a special sort of treat.

Or it could have been an animal. After all, there was Perry, and he
certainly seemed "aware" enough to have followed the instructions of an
older, more powerful vampire if necessary.

Perhaps the reason carouches are so looked-down upon by the FK vampire
community is because some of them actually ARE animals.

I wish they'd explored the whole carouche thing a bit more fully. That
whole aspect of the FK universe was so intriguing, and it would have been
interesting to see it more developed. Heck, Perry could have had his own
spin-off as the vampiric answer to Rin-Tin-Tin. Talk about putting the bite
on crime. <G>
