Hey -
For those who have the Discovery Times channel. There will be a show
"Vesuvius: Deadly Fury" on tonight (9/3) at 7pm EST.
I think I have seen it and if it the one I remember, it is a pretty
informative and interesting show.

I was never much for writing UFfic, but that was more a deficiency of
the writer than a lack of material provided by the show. I think there's
ample evidence in the show itself that could be taken as LC/Nick as having
had (or even as having, at some points) a physical, "sexual" (however
that's defined for vamps) relationship.
My personal read on the LC/Nick relationship is that it has more to do with
power/control than romantic notions of love.

If it's the one by Rogue Cousin Tammy, I found it on the Raven Awards site

I suspect one of the reasons I'm interested in the LC/Nick
relationship is exactly because, while it is a complex relationship, I
just don't see how it can be reduced to a "romantic" one.
"Romance" without irony, conflict, humor, crossed signals, just
doesn't interest me, I guess.
While the General, as a vampire, and as a mortal, takes for granted
his power and control over others, I don't believe that he would be
interested in an utterly submissive Nick who *wasn't,* in some way or
other, rebelling against him. I won't go as far to say that he in some
way admires Nick's refusal to give in (in any sense), but I think it
certainly keeps the relationship interesting for him!
Thus I find most LC/Nick "hurt/comfort" stories to be tooth-achingly
sentimental. (And I admire Nick/Nat stories that avoid
sentimentality.) I can never forget that both were soldiers, fighters,
and members of the upper castes of their mortal times: these habits
carry over into their vampire un-lives.
Sue, are you still writing FK fic? I always looked forward to your stories.
Best,
Julia K.
