I'll offer my thanks to the Almighty as well. Charley came back
ashore about 25 miles north of where I live. All we got were intense
winds and rain (it was category one by then) and lost our power for a
few hours. By 1pm the sun was out and we were seeing blue sky.

Please keep the prayers/thoughts coming for the entire southeast.

I have a suggestion...maybe this sounds nuts, but i think if the v4s is
brought back, that it should be called the v5s...time for a new season, don't
you think?

As for cross-posting, perhaps all convo should go to the appropriate list so
people don't have to read stuff twice? (which i guess i will be cross posting
this since the convo is over here lol)

I asked Gord at tvshowsondvd.com (who is in contact with Sony and other
studios) about the sales figures of the FK DVDs and this was his reply:

"Roughly 500 fans isn't many at all. Even if every fan bought 4 sets, that's
only 2000 sets sold. They were probably looking for 40,000-80,000 sets (just
a guess)."

Ok...well I honestly doubt that Sony expects that many sales for a cult
series like FK. I wish there were someone we could directly ask at Sony
about the release of the other seasons.

These figures are pretty unbelieveable, even tho
boxsets are popular, I think it would be hard to sell
that many for any series other than Southpark, Buffy
or something much more mainstream. If Sony had 38,000
unsold sets of FK "lying around", wouldn't they have
dropped the price to sell off the inventory?? I'm not
sure how the DVD industry works, but when they sell
books, they have pre-orders from stores, and can gauge
somewhat what the demand is going to be for them. I
doubt they had to manufacture 40,000 sets. And a
series like this probably has minimal overhead, all
the music was original, the actors I don't think get
residuals, so most of the expense would be in
physically producing the package and disks, and what
little advertising they did. I'd still really like to
see some real sales numbers.

Here's hoping all of us in the path of the two storms came through safely.
I think Don was one of them and I'm not sure he has power right now.

Subject: Hurricane Charley

Greetings Gentle Beings!
Finally able to get word out (from a borrowed computer at someone else's
house). (Apologies if this comes through as HTML - I'm having to use a web
interface.)
Friday morning when we heard that Charley had changed direction and instead of
skirting us was headed straight for us (Fort Myers, Lee County, Florida) and
had increased suddenly from a category 2 storm to category 4, I tried to get
online to ask everyone to send us good vibes. The power went off (and is still off)
before I could even finish logging on to the computer. I'd like to think that
maybe some of you were sending your prayers and good thoughts anyway. Charley
turned at the last minute and passed us - the eye missed us by about 15 miles. We
spent a couple of very tense hours huddled with all our animals and every
cushion in the house in a central (ie no exterior walls) bathroom hoping the roof
wouldn't go. We were blessed - we lost a couple of lovely citrus trees, some
branches of other trees and a whole bunch of shingles. Now we just have to hope
they get power to the local lift station before the sewers back up into the
house. My mother lives a few miles away and her electricity came back on this
morning so we're chillin' in the AC til at least after dinner.
Miss you all - and I'll be back on duty as soon as possible.
L8r,
         - Don
