I think that's our best plan of attack, although I
don't know that a few hundred rabid fans buying
multiple copies will swing things enough to justify a
2nd season release. I know I'm feeling a wee bit
guilty for buying my copy used. (But it was such a
good price! Can ya tell I'm Scots?) I may have to buy
one or two to give as gifts, just to soothe my guilt.

<g> Pretty appropriate, now that I think about it. I
must be channeling Nick...

Other than Nat telling Nick to go back to watching his
Bela Lugosi movie in "Dark Knight", I don't think
Dracula was mentioned.

I'm definitely interested. I could help with
continuity, etc.

I thought the stories were wonderful and look forward
to more of them.

Another step to take: go to Netflix.com and ask that they add Season I to
their rental stock.

Subject: FK Virtual 4th Season

I only discovered FK online recently, after finally getting a new
computer (perforce, since my old one died on me sometime over Christmas
last year, as I discovered when I got home from visiting my sister over
the holiday). I totally agree with Karen - fan fiction is great, but
often seems to create its own FK world. The V4S was something else.
Coming to it late, I devoured it in about a fortnight.

So is my money where my mouth's at? Uh, no. I can't personally
volunteer to help. (Which sounds as though I'd like to volunteer you, I
guess.) But there is a reason. I'm trying to write the pages for my
own little website, having been inspired by all the great ones out
there, not least of which is the V4S site.
When I get it up, I'll at least be able to offer you another virtual
season - one that I've been working on, all on my lonesome, ever since
the series ended. It won't be V4S; nor is it intended in any way as a
substitute. It has its own, rather different premise. V4S is, so to
speak, tapping into a universe in which the show was cancelled but
revived, with LK taken into account in the way its episodes were (are?)
written. My own fourth season - call it FK4, if you will - taps into a
very different universe in which the show was never cancelled at all.
So it continues on from the third season, as if "Ashes to Ashes" had
been written differently, and there'd been a different 22nd episode:
i.e. Tracy is Nick's partner, and Vachon and Urs are around. Yes, there
is continuity; yes, there are story arcs (at least in terms of the
characters' personal development, though not the main plots, except for
a two-part season premiere). And yes: there are 22 episodes. Done.
Written. (Though, mindful of my experience with V4S, I have no
intention of putting them all on the website at once.)
So I really am too busy to help continue V4S. After all, even when
I've got the website started, I'll still have to write the homepages and
notes for each episode before I upload it. And I'd really, really like
to get back to work on Season Five, which is only half done. (Yes,
there will be a Season Five, too.) I can appreciate why the people
doing V4S eventually gave up on it: I did no writing last year; and
when I got back after Christmas raring to go, I found my computer down:
it was the end of May before I got a new one.

But none of that stopped me enjoying V4S when I discovered it. So
please: all I can offer Janice in her quest to resurrect it is
encouragement. And the same to the people who were involved in the
first place. I mean: there were a whole bunch of you, right? Surely,
someone among you can squeeze out the time? Because I, too, would love
to see more.

That sounds wonderful, Greer! I have to admit, that
was my original thought as well, to simply write my
*own* darned fourth season, since TPTB had so
thoughtlessly denied me one. ;-) I will definitely be
looking forward to reading yours once it's up. If you
need any help with the HTML, let me know; I've put up
a web site or three.

I love continuing stories, which is a big part of why
I'm looking so hard at the V4S. I personally would
prefer to rewrite LK for a fourth season starter
(still haven't gotten over my Last Knight denial,
hah), but the V4S deals with it and at least brings
back Nat and Nick.

I've sent an email to the V4S@fkfanfic address, and am
hoping to hear back from some of the originial
creators of the project.

Hi Everyone,

Boy were we lucky in Tampa Bay, FL. We were supposed to
receive a direct hit from Hurricane Charley. At the last
minute it went inland about an hour south of us. We got
a little wind and rain. Zero Damage, unless you count
my nerves.

Thank God the only clean-up I have is to just put
everything back in place the weekend.

I'm not sure if that address is still being monitored. A lot of the v4s
people are still around, but the person who posts the stories to the list, and
some other key players are missing.

Remember, anyone can write stories based on v4s and post them to
fkfanfic.com. That's part of the deal.

For those wanting to revive it, that's great. Just remember you'll need a
committee to consider pitches, to then take the pitches and figure out which
ideas best suit being the next episode, the writer then writes an outline which
is torn apart, then submits a redone outline, then submits a story, then the
story is torn apart and rewritten... etc. You'll have to deal with what to do
when people disagree over a point of a story, writers who may refuse to change
something that must be changed in order to keep continuity or
characterization...

I just want people to know what they are getting into. LOL! It is not all
fun, it takes a very long time, and anyone wanting to help resurrect it needs
to realize they have to work with others and may not get their own way about
stories, even if they are one of the writers OR one of the *committee* of
editors.

I wasn't officially writing another v4s story ... yet, although I had been
asked to do so for one pitch I'd submitted. I just never did because by that
time, people were scattered due to real life. I've given some thought recently,
though, to writing it as regular fan fic so I could use my original ending, not
the one that v4s would have required, although if v4s was resurrected, either
way would be fine with me.

I am not sure of the etiquette of cross-posting. I just posted a rather
lengthy explanation of the previously-used process for the FKV4S on the
list for the FKV4S. Then I read the digest here and discovered that some
of the discussion was taking place over here. I hate to duplicate the
comments, but if there is no overlap, I can post it here to. Could you
folks let me know? Just email me directly, and if I hear from more than
one or two people (I can send it individually to them then) I can post it
here too.

I meant this to go to the List earlier, and my apologies to the person to
whom I sent it privately (oops!!)

Speaking of the Virtual 4th Season <g>,

Can anyone tell me (I just *know* I have asked this before), what was the
last episode, or what were the last 2 or 3 eps posted, and where can I find
them?
I know that is a dumb question, but it has been so darned long, I just
cannot remember!!

Thanks for any help!!

Forever yours, and yes I am still alive <g>,
