... good question. Probably have metal shutters like the rest of the windows,
hooked up to the same circut in the remote control. We never notice it because
Nick closes the shutters early enough in the morning that the sun isn't coming
through the skylight.

Roqufort for me, please.

So...out of curiosity, has anyone actually sprung for the fourteen bucks to
get this "Greatest '70s Cop Shows" DVD that supposedly has an advertising
insert for upcoming FK DVDs? If so, could someone possibly scan it and post
it on a website somewhere?

There's a scan of it up on my site (taken from DavisDVD.com). I also did
some research and e-mailed a fan who has an online site mentioning this
specific DVD with the ad insert. They scanned a copy of the ad in the
"Greatest '70s Cop Shows" DVD and, yes, it's the same one already mentioned.
FK *is* coming to DVD. :)

I finally got the model '62 Caddy I won off Ebay
today. It's a little die cast one, about the size of a
Hot Wheels but there's a trading card type thing that
comes with it...the only difference from Nick's is
that it's black instead of blue-green. I don't have a
scanner, but I can look tomorrow and post a link to
the ebay page if anyone wants to have a look.

You know your FK'ed when you get three e-mails to your
box from: lusianlacroix , nicolasdebrabant ,
fluerdebrabant, all with the same subject line (
"Checking Out!" ) you have the following thoughts:
"Who on the lists is lusianlacroix now?"
"Wait, why would three list peoples have the exact
same subject line, and no Re: is involved.. these are
other mails..."
"Why would Lusian, Nick and fluer e-mail me the same
thing?"

and so on and so on, untill I open on, and am like
"DUH, this is a neopets e-mail about my pets named
that!"

See what naming virtual pets after FK chars can get
you? ::grin::

Subject: Re: the trouble with mortality

I've just been going through some old digests, and i found this topic from
earlier in May. No idea who started it, though. Anyway, i thought this
might be a good time to ask if anyone has any thoughts on problems that my
character would have in my FK story? i don't want to give away the plot
entirely, but i'll say this...a vampire, *really* it isn't Nick, becomes
mortal--however he loses his memory too, only remembering when he was human,
so it isn't like he remembers what he's lost. On this topic so far, it has
been mentioned about them getting sick and germs...i never thought of
that--and i'm wondering what else i haven't considered. So far, i've covered
eating unrecognized food, being afraid of things like electricity, so on.
(this person is older than modern conveniences). Please reply
off-list...unless the list wants to see the responses? *shrugs*

While i'm posting, i have to ask about this. Another list member and myself
had a conversation a few months back about if it was on-topic to post, asking
about the title of a fic, help with a fic, looking for a beta reader, website
updates, and so on. I see this list as a companion to the fic list that we
cannot chat on, which means talking about FK fic and not just the show is
on-topic. *shrugs* I've never seen the list-owners say not to, and yet, this
other person still argues with me. (you know who you are and don't get mad
b/c i'm posting this. i just want to finally get the answer for both of us
*smile, then runs away and hides*) I would have just sent this part of my
e-mail to McLisa or Don, but i feel that everyone needs to see the response
since so far, there's 2 people who aren't sure--and there may be more.

Mentioning beta readers, anyone interested in reading my story to comment on
the plot? i have someone who fixes my grammar mistakes...but i think no one
wants to hurt my feelings by commenting on the plot. I need someone who
isn't going to worry about that and has the time to help make it
better--really it doesn't hurt my feelings, i just want my story to be the
best it can be. The first story is 170 pages (almost finished), and the
sequel is no where near finished, but so far is 70 pages. It would be great
if whoever reads the first, reads the 2nd one too. Oh, and, these stories
are adult, with sex pairings of m/f, m/m/m, m/m/f, m/m, and i think that's
all.

Summary to see if you're interested, this story does have a plot, it isn't
just sex even though it sounds that way from what i previously said lol.
Basically, Nick's two sons expose vampires to the world and then come to live
with him in Toronto, which interferes with Nick and Nat's relationship. This
takes place 3 yrs after the series ended, however, Cohen is the captain,
Schanke is Nick's partner, Janette was never mortal (she isn't in the story,
but she's still Nick's sister), only Divia died in 'ashes to ashes' and 'last
knight' never happened. LaCroix, Tracy, and Vachon are in this too, and Myra
and Jenny are just in, uh, 2 scenes? For more details, or if you're
interested, just ask --> offlist.

I can answer this one - yes, it is on-topic as LONG as it is related to Forever
Knight fan fiction and websites.

Except that you're not having this happen to *Nick* (or one of the
"regular" FK vamps), this sounds remarkably like the "Memory" challenge
someone started years ago... (Somehow I recall a number of unfinished
stories started on that Challenge theme...)

It's ok to talk about FK fanfic on Forkni-l, even if it's not something that
was posted on Fkfic-l. It's perfectly normal to ask for beta readers and to ask
questions for fanfic.

Posts are only off-topic if they are not about FK. FK fanfic is about FK, so
it's on-topic.

Off-topic means "having nothing to do with FK, or FK fans, or the list." Here's
an example. Back when Princess Diana died, I had to tell posters not to talk
about it unless they could relate her death directly to FK. I too was shocked
and grieved, but Princess Diana had nothing to do with FK. That meant posts about
her death were off-topic.

Sometimes Don or I will allow off-topic posts if asked. I have allowed non-FK
charity announcements, for instance. Asking us off-list is fine.

I hope this helps. If anything isn't clear, just write to me or Don. The rules
are supposed to keep the list running smoothly for everyone. We are happy to
help and advise.

Someone did write a story in which Nick regained his mortality. I
don't remember the title or author, but he 'arms' himself with a
kitchen knife and puts some bread in a dishtowel and after coving
Natalie with an afghan he heads out to explore the world. It's one of
my favorites...you'd think I could remember the title at least.
Does anyone remember the title/author?

I'm the only person who answered the Memory Challenge, with my story, "Deja Vu"
(available on my website and on the www.fkfanfic.com). The originator of the
challenge never finished her story---much to my regret, because the parts she
did post were quite intriguing.
