I don't know what they would have done to get rid of her. It may not have
gotten that far. As for the search for a cure, they were going to lose that
angle completely.

As for other characters, just in case anyone doesn't know: they also had
intentions for Nick and the neck of the week (no, I don't know how they
proposed to do that when he can't bite without killing) and they were going
to have LC isolated at CERK. We would see him doing monologs but that was
all. They were the ones who insisted on killing off Schanke. I don't know
why they couldn't just transfer him. There had been some talk of keeping him
and making him the new captain but John Kapelos didn't like the idea even if
they'd offered it to him. Personally I rather like it. Certainly the
dynamics would have been interesting.

Janette was going to be first reduced to a recurring character instead of a
regular. The union wouldn't allow that, even if Deborah Duchene had been
willing. She wasn't willing according to everything I've heard. Then USA
decided to get rid of the character because -- hold onto your hats -- she
wasn't sexy enough and they didn't think the character would work outside
the Raven. USA clearly thinks "sexy" has to mean "bleached blonde and
falling out of a bathing suit." <snort> As for the working outside the
Raven, they were ignoring all the flashbacks and Deb's considerable talent.

USA was behind the killing off of Capt. Cohen too. I don't know why.

As for why Vachon, Tracy and Urs (no offense to their factions, this is
simply history), USA didn't think the viewers they wanted (males 18-35 and
of course any females in demographic) would watch something with old
characters like Nick and Nat. Old in this case seems to be defined as over
29. Notice that the trio could have been set up like the original
Nick-Nat-Janette thing, only with younger characters, once Vachon was added.

Why USA bought a show with an established audience which was largely female
and with a wider range of ages than that if what they wanted was a show that
would primarily pull in younger males, I do not know. Stupidity is my
guess. It doesn't seem to have occurred to them that the established
audience might not hold still for the changes. I know I would have stopped
at the end of the 2nd season if they'd gotten rid of Nat.

Drat. Didn't check the headers and sent this to Mary Lynn instead of the
list. Sorry about that, Mary.

Given those reasons, the age would have been about twelve, like
it had been a thousand years earlier.

Herewith the regular Sunday post of the rules for Forkni-l.

McLisa, not up to writing an intro because I had enough excitement chasing
my escaped dog around the neighborhood. Yes, I did catch her. Now I know how
LC must feel at times. :)

Hi there,

Someone, don't remember who, wrote that we don't know
if Divia was evilas a mortal.

If I remember correctly, Divia once says that the
'Healer' picked her for bringing across because her
evil was so 'pure' which means she was a nasty little
brat from the start.

Ok, maybe it's just me, but I thought the idea for a cure (ie to
become human again) was the entire point of the series! It even says
so in the opening theme!
Getting rid of that would have made the show..... just stupid.
