Subject: Re: FK Soap

Suddenly, I've found that soap ideas are just bubbling up! For those
unfamiliar with soapmaking, soap must have a fat or oil for the chemical
reaction of saponification. With that in mind, here are my suggestions:

Don Schanke: Garlic scent, covered with a thin haze of peppermint (so
Myra doesn't get mad), with a lard base.

Myra Schanke: Buys her soap from Skin Pretty.

Nick: Brimstone (sulphur) and rose scent in equal amounts, with pumice
(for thoroughly penitential scrubbing) in a tallow (beef fat) base.

Natalie: Formaldehyde and Provocateur perfume in a coconut oil base.

Janette: Night blooming jasmine scent in a clear red glycerine soap.

LaCroix: Black soap with a strong brimstone scent, with a subtle
after-aroma of roses and peaches.

Tracy: Apricots and calla lilies in an olive oil base, with some oatmeal
for gentle exfoliating. Faint hint of coffee after-scent.

Vachon: Pure Castile soap, scented with pine and/or cedar. Faint
after-scent of motorcycle engine oil.

Subject: FK on Space, season 1 order, and LC's un-death

Two questions, and a thought. For those folks who are watching FK on
Space here in Canada, which version are they airing? Any chance of
catching the popcorn scene from I Will Repay, which never aired on
Showcase?

Second, what airing order do people like best for the first season? I
always thought that it ought to end with Close Call; just liked it
better that way. Has anyone got a favorite order for the end of the
first season which is not the same as the strict order by episode
number? (E.g. season three should end with Francesca, ATA, and LK, but
the episode numbers say ATA, Francesca (thus resurrecting Vachon) and
then LK.)

Finally, when I was watching ATA I noticed that Vachon told Tracy she
should "Bury it [the stake] deep--it has to go right through my heart."
So perhaps this is why LC returned for season 2--Nick staked him, but
the stake didn't _through_ his heart (in the front and out the back), so
he was able to recover after a lengthy convalescence. Others, less "old
and powerful", might still have died from that injury. :-)

Ligeia

Space did indeed show the version with the popcorn scene. I saw it for the
first time. It was that that decided me to start retaping the shows.

I agree with you. I too think the second season should have ended with
Close call.

The thing that really jumped out at me in this viewing of the series was
the amount of information they suddenly dropped into the episodes at the
end of the second season. For example it is here we learn for the first
time what Nick's real name is , the reason he went to the crusades and of
the existence the de Brabant foundation.

If I remember my vampire lore correctly the stake's original purpose was
to fix the vampire to the ground to prevent him from leaving his grave.
Stakes were usually made of ash, hawthorn and aspen.

I always found it curious that both Nick and Vachon kept a stake on hand.

A lot of people keep things that could potentially kill them close by...

How many people collect weapons, such as swords, knives and guns. Or people
into herbology growing various poisonus plants. Or people keeping scorpions
and rattlesnakes and vicious creatures....

Its not unreasonable that keeping an object that could be lethal to one
gives one a grasp on their own mortality (in their immortality when
regarding this point to vampires...)

Just a thought.

Well using my full christian name and surname got the following:

Your Vampire Name

The Great Archives determine you to have gone by the identity:

Emperor of The Ghastly

Known in some parts of the world as:

Scourge of Wallachia

The Great Archives Record:

Died and rose again in the name of eternal love.

I died and rose again probably because of Janette!

Hi, Gang ~

Okay, I couldn't stand it. I entered my sister's name {since I'm Sami
and she's Tami, I figured the results would come up pretty close - but
nope! The answer for my very conservative, white-bread sister was:

> Genevieve Beau Pre
>
> Known in some parts of the world as: Lodemai of Bucharest
>
> The Great Archives Record: A youth seduced by darkness and cults.

No, no, no - Tami is quite proper and has never been seduced by anything
except chocolate, and that was technically my fault.

Since I was busy postponing kitchen clean-up, I decided to enter another
unsuspecting relative's name. Those of you who have met my daughter,
Tempest, know how kind she is. She's like a little beacon of goodness,
seriously. So how about THIS result that we got for her name:

> Countess of Flesh
> Known in some parts of the world as: Seductress Of Evil.

According to the Great Archives:
> The purest evil of all evil, and evil comes in many forms.

Boy, was she ever surprised when I told her! She had no idea she was
so evil. It's like waking up one morning and learning that you're
suddenly a Lutheran or a Viking or something, huh? {note: no offense
intended toward Lutherans; my father became one years ago. I just
can't remember any other names right now.}

It's definitely bedtime.

find that out.

Actually, Joan knows his name already--she tells him "You are Nicholas de

Gee, I think we must be related! Might you also be a Knightie?

This is what I got:

The Great Archives determine you to have gone by the identity:
Giselle du Coudray

Known in some parts of the world as:
Venus of The Highway Thieves
