The author is Linda Lael Miller and she is a fantastic writer. She's
written a number of vampire books as well as other subjects. I highly
recommend her if you are not into the traditional vampire fiction.

My obsession to Forever Knight started three years ago when I got the
internet. I've always liked (a lot mind you0 vampires, but I find
werewolves better....

Ok moving on from that, I was looking stuff up for Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I stumbled onto a wonderful thing called fan fic and was immediately
hooked to it. While trying to find an archive for BtVS fan fic, I stubled
across a link for sony's Forever Knight page. I read the summary of the
show. When I read that it was about an 800 year old vampire, I was
immediately hooked. Then I found out that this vampire was a cop nowadays
and an obsession started.

I started to look up all the stuff I possibly could find on Forever Knight,
believing I would have to live off nothing but fanfic of this wonderful show
for I thought I would never see an episode.

Two years lter I decided to get Austar (I'm an Aussie) and immediately saw
Forever Knight on the list on TV1 for 1am Saturday mornings (although I say
late Friday night).

The first ep I watched was Cherry Blossoms and I was kind of disappointed.
I decided to give it a go one more week. That ep was I Will Repay and I
fell in love with the show. I thought that Nick was a gorgeous guy and he
soon became my favourite character. Followed by LaCroix in the flashbacks
(he is so evil!)

I am still waiting to see the third season, which I am hoping to see soon.
Still haven't watched it...although I am safely in Denial over everyones
death. I will stay here until that whole mess is sorted out on screen.

Am I the only one who had a big obsession with Forever Knight before seeing
the show (and if not two years before seeing the show...yes I am strange)

Not sure if I have a FK reputation but I think I gained one after the last

This is such an interesting topic! I've really enjoyed everyone's stories.
Here's mine:

Back in '92, I was completely unaware of the existence of FK. Our eldest was a
toddler, and I was preggers with our second, so Crime Time after Prime Time was
on way past my bedtime.
Fast forward to Sci-Fi re-runs. Flipping through the channels one morning, I
came upon a scene in what looked like a coffee shop. A very nice-looking blonde
man was chatting with a woman, and I remember thinking, "He's kind of cute, I'll
watch this for awhile."

Little did I know ...it was "Feeding the Beast"

Then a waitress came to refill their coffee, and spilled *blood* all over the
table, and everyone in the coffee shop turned into vampires.

How wonderfully bizarre, thought I, and made certain to watch it every day after
that.

Then I discovered the fanfic, and the amazing on-line community. I've never
known such a warm, supportive group of people. I feel very fortunate that I've
been able to meet some of you.

Oh, and I adored Dark Shadows when I was a kid.

I created a faction to defend poor Vachon from malicious cow attacks
earning me my old name of Donna Torrey.

Hmmmmm........I glued cousin Cherri into a cow costume < complete with
utters and mooers> <eg>. This resulted in probably the largest off list, real
life continued attack in FK history. All of these years later Cherri is still
receiving "Cow Stuff" <magnets, blankets stuffed toys, prints> in the mail.
This poor woman has a room full of < shudder> cow stuff now.
I used Geese to defend the Church for one war. Resulting in my faction
spending most of a War slipping in goose poo.
I am probably the only faction leader to bodily remove a person from a
faction for the mortal sin of cutting Vachons hair, without permission. <

We Dug Vachon back up and accidentally lost control of him resulting
in a Merc. spending most of a War in a coma.
I disappeared from the list for years and have no idea how I was last
portrayed in a war. For all I know I am still wondering around lost somewhere
in Toronto. Thus my new name. Torrey The Lost Vaquera.

Ok, I thought it was about time I threw in my 2 cents. Reading
everyone else's stories made me realize how long I've been around
   here.

   I didn't encounter FK until it was on Sci-Fi. I don't know how I
didn't catch it before, since I've always had at least some
   fascination with vampires.
Well, in February of 1998 - wow, over four years ago! - they had
their Valentine's day marathon. Now, I HAD caught at least one ep
of FK before this, I think it was Outside the Lines. I vaguely
remember seeing Tracy and her friend, but I know I was intrigued
enough, and excited to find a new vampire show to watch, to look out
for the marathon. Well, the next ep I see is Curiouser and
Curiouser - can we say confused? But intrigued nevertheless. I
remember that I had to go out during the marathon but having trouble
tearing myself away from the TV! I came back as quickly as I could
and watched the rest of the marathon. After that I watched every
episode that aired, but obviously they were in third season.
Imagine my dismay when I saw Last Knight! But then I got to see it
all from the beginning, and that was a good thing. (I believe this
is what led to finding myself - much later - in the NA! <snicker>)
That month, I went on line looking for any info on the show and was
thrilled to discover fkfanfic.com and then fkfic-l. I didn't intend
to sign up for any discussion list - well, that lasted about a
month, and then I gave in and signed up for forkni-l. About a month
later, I'm pretty sure it was April, Love You to Death aired.
Before this I was pretty Nick-centered actually. :-o When I saw
LaCroix in that outfit in the flashback, in that tux with that
beautiful vest - I was mesmerized. I couldn't take my eyes off him.
Well, I realized I was a cousin then and discovered Nunkies
Anonymous in a few months, where I had quite a bit of fun for a
couple of years. (for any newbies: Nunkies is an affectionate term
we use for LaCroix - and there is no "singular" as in Nunkie! it's
Nunkies and that's LaCroix. ;-) Don't let anyone tell you
   differently. they're evil. ;-) )
My schoolwork has taken over my life, so I've had to withdraw from
actively participating. Lurking here, and not even at NA - or the
new one, Lacroixforum, where the silliness continues. It also kept
me from fully participating in any wars, unfortunately. But I
continue to lurk here because, well, you guys are just swell.
I'll soon be done with school, (you'll know when I'm done, trust me)
and hopefully you'll see a lot more of me then.

I agree. Great topic! I too have enjoyed everyone's stories. Here's my
crossing.

It was July 1999. While channel surfing, I came upon FK on Scifi. At the
time, I didn't realize I was watching the last 20 minutes of LK. I guess
you could say I didn't have the foggiest notion what was going on, but one
thing caught my eye: the flashback of the cute blonde guy~Nick~with Joan of
Arc. The previous month, I'd watched a NBC Mini series about her with my
daughter. After seeing it and this segment of LK, and wondering why a
vampire would be discussing faith with someone so devout, I decided to give
the show a try. At first, I watched it sporadically and then in Sept.,
upon the kids return to school, everyday. I too was drawn to the drama
and moral, social issues, and the multi-level plots in the flashbacks and
present day situations. The vampire aspect of the show didn't appeal to me,
except to show Nick's struggle towards mortality.

Like others, I'm not a huge fan of most vampire movies/shows except
light-hearted ones, spoofs like Mel Brook's movie, already mentioned, and
others like George Hamilton's Love at First Bite. Although.... I must say I
did enjoy Frank Langela's Dracula. Loved the open shirt, too. <g>

When FK stopped airing in Dec. 1999, I discovered the fanfic site, Scifi
b-board and last Sept. Forkni-L.... And a great bunch of people along the
way.
