<<For me BB would have been much easier to take if we'd seen Schanke and
the Captain in the ep, even if it was only them getting ready to get on
the airplane. It just seems to me that saying goodbye would have been
easier, and the effect less of a slap in the face to their fans. I was
never a huge Schanke fan, but this seemed needlessly cruel.
Maybe they were just practicing for "Last Knight." :-p
Janice>>

Oh, I just shudder at the thought of Last Knight. That is the one
episode of any show I have EVER watched that stayed with me, and
definitely not in a good way.

I only watched it once, and that was enough.

P.S. Not to mention AtA. <double shudder>

<<By the way, my understand is they DID want to make him captain, but
John Kapelos (the actor) didn't want to go that route and quit. He would
have been a great captain, but I have a soft spot for Cpt. Reese (read
my virtual fourth season stories).

I liked all the captains. I think Cohen was my favorite. I'll never
forget when Schanke and Nick were following her, and she snapped at
them. It was hysterical.

I've read your V4s, and will read it again. By the way, for people who
haven't read it, READ IT!!! <shameless plug> Seriously, it's very
good.

from what I understand, that would have involved a cut in pay and a reduction to
recurring character rather than--what do you call what JK was doing, costar? JK
didn't want to do that so he split.

The Nightcrawler monologue from the end of Black Buddah 2:

"Black magic, voodoo, bombers in the sky, people killed, people...but I don't
know why."

Definitely spooky.

I looked up transcript at the FKfanfic site. Here is
exact quote in case any one is interested. And yes,
it is quite..eerie.

Lacroix: "Black Magic. Voodoo. Bombers in the sky.
People kill people---and I don't know why."

In one of my stories I couldn't kill him like they did in Black Buddha so I
promoted him to Captain and transferred him. I was trying to keep my story
pretty close to cannon, outside of a few things. The story is called
Devastation and is the second story in the Nightmare saga. I think Nightmare
and Devastation are up at my web site <www.megspace.com/arts/fkfanfic>. The
site is still being worked on, but is mostly there.

A lot of the show's humor and heart was lost with the death of Schanke. He
was friend to both Nick and Natalie, he made Nick feel like a human by
accepting him for who he was (even without knowing he was a vampire). They
were true partners. Schanke was a good officer, smarter than he often let on.

If you think about it, senseless slaughter of human
life probably doesn't make any more sense to vampires
than it does to us. They kill for a reason, callous
and cruel as it may seem to those involved. If I may
quote "As Time Goes By", by Nancy Kaminski:
"They achieved nothing but their own destruction.
Tactically and strategically it was a pointless, stupid act."

We don't understand it. We _can't_ understand it, and
I pray the day never comes that we do.

FORKNI-L RULES

1. No flames on list. FLAMERS MAY BE SET NOPOST. THE NOPOST MAY BE PERMANENT.

2. Please don't quote more than four lines of a previous post in
replying. If you have more than one point to answer, then you may
quote the relevant four lines for that point also.

3. Limit sigs to 6 lines. This includes all information, decoration
quotations and blank lines. Your name and address count as part of
the six. If you sign your name on a separate line above the body of
text, your name and the blank line or lines between count as part of
the six line limit. If you have one of those services that insists on
putting an advertising tag on the end of posts, don't worry. We
realize you can't control that and it doesn't count as part of your
sig.

4. Please don't send to the whole list when you are only talking to
the person who wrote the post you are answering.

5. Advertising on list is on a case by case basis. Please consult the
listowners, Lisa McDavid, <mclisa@m.......> or Don Fasig,
<Argent@e.......f> or permission.

6. This list is for the discussion of Forever Knight. Cast, crew,
staff and producers in connection with what they're doing now or have
done in the past are ok. So are list members' FK- fannish activities
and arrangements to meet. Cons should only be announced on Forkni-l
if someone from the show is appearing, or if you're going to be
there. Non-FK vampires, or vampires in general, are _NOT_ ok.
Vampyres@t....... does that. McLisa can tell you how to
subscribe. . 7. Off-topic posts are _NOT_ allowed, no matter what
they are about or how urgent the warning may appear. If you have an
off-topic post which you think should appear on the list, ask one of
the owners for permission.

8. The private lives of the cast are not a discussion topic.
Occasionally one of the fan club presidents will make an
announcement, but other than that, we leave the cast their privacy.

9. Only fan club presidents or other designated spokespeople may make
announcements of future projects for FK cast, crew and staff, before
said projects have been released or written about in the media.

10. No role-playing on Forkni-l. This includes no character names as
pseudonyms or posing as a character.

11. Each subscriber is limited to five posts per day on Forkni-l.

I don't want to go too much OT or act like I'm treading a
web of conspiracy theory around, but believe me, certain
people who wanted certain things achieved them all by
killing thousands of innocent others. It's just that they
never let us see the truth of the things as they are.
Anyone interested in knowing what I exactly mean can
email me offlist and I'll explain it in more detail.

Subject: Admiral LaCroix and Captain Knight?

I am a fan of Richard Basehart, and I don't know how many people remember
Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea, but I was thinking of the similarities between
the relationship between Admiral Nelson ( who was played by Richard Basehart)
and Captain Crane. Crane was always arguing with Nelson, forgetting his rank at
times. Nelson would get irritated at times but then you realized that they
really did care for each other.

This is the same type of relationship that LC and Nick have. LC expects Nick to
be subordinate to him, but of course Nick has other ideas. In the end though,
you realize that they also care for each other.

Can you imagine LC as and Admiral who owns his own submarine and Nick as the
Captain? Schanke could be the Exec. And of course Nat would be the ship's
doctor.

The shows were 30 years apart, but still the same type of relationships.

Just a side note: I am looking ( begging) for someone to record Savage Guns
starring Richard Basehart which is on Turner South (TSO) tomorrow morning
(Monday) at 8:05 am. I am willing to pay for the time, tape and mailing costs.
