I once encountered an FK fan at the awards banquet at a writing
conference. I went down there without anyone I knew, as my friend who went
to the conference with me wasn't feeling well. Somehow, the conversation
at the table got around to Nick and Vachon and what we'd do if they were
hiding under the table. <Hey, it made sense at the time!> At least,
that's as near as I can remember it. I know we wound up discussing FK
while our tablemates looked at us in total confusion.

EST.

In this series Ben has a recurring role as Graham Pearson, a reporter for
the Globe and Mail. Also stars Stuart Margolin and Janet Kidder.

Well not technically a fan, but ...

A couple of years ago my sister and I were sellers at the Rose Bowl Flea
Market (one of the great cultural events of the western states) and the
booth next to us was a very pretty woman doing airbrushed portraits and
other stuff on t-shirts, pictures of rock stars and cartoon characters
mostly, and very well done.

After we'd all made a few sales and were feeling expansive, I asked her if
she could copy a screen capture from a TV show onto a t-shirt for me. She
said "Sure, what's the show", and I of course replied "It was a late night
show, you've never heard of it ... Forever Knight" Her answer was "Heard
of it? I was in it!"

Which explained why I had been thinking she looked familiar. :-) She was
the Valentine Girl who gets offed in the teaser of BMV, and had glowing
things to say about the cast and crew and what an enjoyable set it was to
work on.

The terrible thing was I didn't even have to ask what part she had played,
once she said it. I just knew. <g> YKYBWTMFK squared.

Oh, and the t-shirt is the shot of Nick biting Janette in Crazy Love, and
it's great even if I do think he really belongs with Nat.

Please allow me to add my 0.02 to yours Patty (nice
hearing from you BTW:). I think you are making very
good observations here. However, both these eps are
what I would call “out of sequence episodes". FK
writers weren't particularly known for their unity in
story telling (one of the very few flaws I can find in
the show). You are right, in BMV, Nick all of a sudden
decides to show affection to Natalie without any kind
of indication in the previous episodes. And it stays
in that ep too; we don’t hear anything about it in any
of the subsequent episodes in the second season. I
know one might argue that it was because LaCroix
threatened him and he had to keep the charade (which
in itself is debatable), but wouldn’t we at least see
some hints of that struggle in his manners towards Nat
to keep that affection in check, like we see in hers
all the time?

As for Last Knight, to me, that was just a lousy
excuse for a last episode. Although the acting and the
dialogue were great and I was a puddle of crying mess
half way through it (oh that dreadful, lonely night in
cold Montreal!), the way things turned out didn’t
quite make sense. But of course, that is only my H
opinion.

Hey Sunny! :-) Just for getting me into this discussion about Nat over
Janette, I'm cutting you off from the jokes! Just kidding! :-)

In production order for season two, Be My Valentine is the fourth to the
last episode of the season. I agree Nick's affective manners towards Nat
are restrained in the next eps, The Code.

Then, we have the eps. A More Permanent Hell where IMHO, he shows more
affection towards her, ie. comforting her in the morgue immediately
following the discovery of vampire attacked bodies, a flicker of desire and
temptation to give into her request to be brought across, then changing his
mind, protectiveness and almost a possessiveness towards her with Spark.
(At the end, with the rescue.) In fact, IMHO, Nat is the one who puts up
the wall around her feelings at the end of this episode, not Nick.

The last eps of the season, Blood Money, Nat and Nick banter back and forth
like old times in one scene, which takes place in the morgue. No real
display of affection, just work as usual.

Next season, in Black Buddha, more displays of affection (hugs) between the
two of them and more importantly, in public.

In the eps, My Boyfriend is a Vampire, there is an obvious display of
affection, flowers and one hellva a card according to Nat’s facial
expression in the tag scene. Another scene with a practically begging
vampire in the precinct, who will do anything to get her back. It’s almost
embarrassing the way he pleads with her. “ Tell me what to do! I don’t
know what to do!“ IMHO, I don’t know what happened to the eight hundred
year old vampire in that particular scene, who had all that experience with
women, but he was crumbling there. There is a look of total hurt on his
face when that confrontation is ending.

The chapter divisions were lost in her hard drive crash, so she doesn't
remember, and she is starting to feel up to writing some more.

Sunny's reference to Nick's displays of affection towards Nat, continued.

Let No Man Tear Asunder: More displays of affection, lingering kiss in
precinct in front of everyone before Nat hits the clinic, flowers, another
kiss in morgue and one that she ducks. (IMHO, out of playfulness, but what
a foolish thing to do! ) J

Night in Question: What I found to be vitally important about this episode,
was, despite the retrograde amnesia, Nick’s intuitiveness about his special
relationship with Nat comes to the forefront of his mind *when* he first
wakes up and sees her at the hospital. In other words, he knows they have
something good before she tells him about their friendship and
doctor/patient relationship. Lots of displays of affection here by Nick and
one very erotic dream about Nat-Maybe deeply buried desires to bring her
across can be found in this fugue state?

Sons Of Belial: IMHO, Nick goes to Lacroix over Nat for help because he
would probably kill her. I also believe that Nat is the one who brings him
back from his possession rather than Lacroix. Love conquering the devil,
the beast? Just a thought. Bittersweet tag scene when Nick tries to hold
Nat, but hears her heartbeat, vampire wants more, etc.

Beginning of a series of setbacks: Fever, Games Vampires Play. But, even
between these eps, in Dead of Night, despite his backsliding, there is that
caring, loving affection seen between him and Nat, ie. In the morgue,
comforting her after the reappearance of her grandmother.

Human Factor: In tag scene, Nick’s dream of mortality with Nat and having a
baby with her despite Janette’s return to Toronto and reentrance into Nick’s
life, being the noble Knight in conveying to Nat his refusal to takes those
kinds of risks with her life to regain mortality. IMHO, Nick is being
totally unselfish here and thinking about Natalie. His actions in this
scene demonstrate a caring, perhaps loving nature towards her. Just my
observations.

Last Knight: Although I didn’t like the outcome, I thought this episode
tied together the N&N relationship and a resolution was reached-just not the
one most of us would have probably wanted. :-)

In conclusion, IMHO, I thought Lacroix's possible interference, and Nick's
backsliding in season three played a vital role in his inability to
establish a steady, loving relationship with Nat. Too many obstacles in
their path.

You can find the transcript at:
http://www.fkfanfic.com/fkscripts/mbiav.txt
as for that part, it's when Nick confronts Nat in the
precinct hallway. It's not exactly what he says. In
the transcript he says: "What am I supposed to say?
What am I supposed to say to you? I don't know what to
say. Tell me what to say."
and he sounds more frantic than desperate

Clearly, Nat had the tiles installed to match the Caddy. Everyone loves the
