You can go and put in the name of who YOU think should be voted Sexiest
Man Alive. I put in Geraint Wyn Davies and, of course, Shana voted for
Nigel Bennett (poor, sick child ;) ). Here's the URL, if you want to
participate:

(Lisa: I've tried to clip the original points to 4 lines, sorry for their
length!)

<< As far as [Parriott] was concerned, the story was, vampires and mortals
don't mix, <snip> As far as
Parriott was concerned, the series NATURALLY ended with the death of Natalie
and Nick; that was the way his vision of the FK universe worked. >>

It's an interesting thought, but I'm not so sure that Parriott was so
categorical about it, going into season one or two. It's my impression that
he wanted to drive a stake into the FK franchise by the end of season three
only because of the changes in his original idea that had been imposed upon
him by The Suits. I don't think he ever planned to have a mortal Nick and Nat
walk off into the sunrise together, but that doesn't automatically imply that
he saw it ending as it did.

<< As a corollary, all the guilt Nick feels about people who die because they
get too close to him, that we (and Natalie) think is completely misplaced,
perhaps Parriott didn't think it was misplaced. Nick was right. Anyone who
gets too close to him dies, because vampires are inherently dangerous to
 humans, period. >>

Um ... I saw it as *conflicted* vampires as being, sometimes, dangerous to
humans, regardless of their good intentions. And therein lay the drama, the
tension that drives the series: a good vampire is still a vampire, and has to
deal with both good and bad within himself. Kinda like mortals, you know <g>?
I think that both LC and Nat sense that Nick's feeling of guilt is just a
part of his character that is independent of his being either vampire or
mortal. Come on -- do you really think that if Nick attained mortality, that
he'd be completely carefree, even careless, about his impact on others?

<< I'm not saying I agree with this, but is it an acceptable reading of the
whole series? Was Parriott in fact a lot more negative, all along, than I
would have guessed when I was watching it episode by episode?
  >>

I don't think Parriott was being negative until the show was twisted into
something different from what it had been, in season three. Unless I'm
misunderstanding your question -- do you mean "negative" in that Nick and Nat
aren't mortal, together, by the end of the series? IMO, I don't think that
was ever going to happen given the characters and vampire universe that was
developed and shown to us.

Best,
Julia

I go for 2) as well. There is a romance motif between Nick & Nat, but I
think that just assists the commentary on the human condition, by giving us
an emotional hook for it.

Subject: Which episode?

I need help identifying an FK episode.

The story line is about an female vampire friend of Nick's who
commits suicide because she feels that she has ceased to
contribute and become a "burden" on the universe.

I want to say that the character's name was Erica, but that is really
hazy.

Can anyone identify the episode?
        Thanks,

Last Act was the episode of season 1.

What is Last Act and I'll take FK episodes for $200, please. :)

And yes, her name was Erica.

There is a story on Mel's page: Out There by Calliope, where Reese dedicates
himself to solve the mysterie of their deaths.
In Dorothy Elggren's Silence trilogy he investigates with the help of a
pathologist and a young detective.
In Kathy Whelton's Puzzles he arrives at Nick's loft in time to...
(Sorry, but I don't want to spoil the story!)

Kathy's tale is alson the beginning of a wonderful
trilogy. They are all on Mel's page and Nancy Kaminski's fiction page. for
Dorothy's you had better have the hankies ready. JudyL
