They sell it here in Reno. KC said that when she first saw it, she told
her husband 'so that's what he's been up to since he left Toronto!'
As soon as she got me hooked on the show, she HAD to show it to me.
Okay, what do you think our favorite character's reaction would be if
they saw it? :)

They also sell it in Minnesota, USA. I think LaCroix would probably
just make a snide remark about humans and their brand names...unless,
of course, he's secretly the CEO of the water company. :)

Afternoon/Evening Listfamily......

Well, shoot, what follows is the response (and it took **way** longer that 2
business days like they promised) I got from Columbia House.

It is not terribly encouraging, but maybe if enough folks write to them, they
will consider FK after all?? We can only keep trying <g>!

So, here it is (their response):

Thank you for your e-mail message.

Requests concerning the addition of a particular
series are forwarded to the appropriate department
for review. If sufficient interest can be found
to add a new series, our Marketing and other
departments become involved. If we are able to
offer the requested series, it will be posted on
the website or advertised through other sources.

If we may be of further service, please let us know.

Huh, well let's bombard Columbia House with email requests and maybe they
will have a more definitive answer?

One can always hope........oh, here is there email addy again in case anyone
needs it (and, yes *DO* ask for VHS if you are not interested in DVDs by all
means!!)

<A HREF="mailto:dvd@c.......">dvd@c.......</A>

Sorry, but I do not know the addy for VHS requests......(Kristin??? <g>)

Hmm, did anyone get anything besides *that* response? It seems to basically
be identical to mine and several others I know who e-mailed them.

No, sorry I don't know the VHS addy.

Thanks for sharing the response!

Considering they pronounce the name of the company "La-Croy" and not "La-Cwah" I
don't think he's CEO. I'm sure having his name mispronounced like that would
drive him crazy!

Hi Tracy,

Well, Toronto "sits" on the north shore of Lake Ontario, the smallest (I
think) of the Great Lakes. Better yet, Toronto has several islands ("The
Toronto Islands") a few kilometres south of the downtown core. Centre
Island is the "favourite", but there's also Wards Island and a few others
that I don't recall.

Now if you really want a GREAT place to sit in a car and watch the sun set
over the city from the water (and not have to take your car across a ferry
to the islands), try Poulsen St. (I think that the spelling is off?) where
you can look out from the parking lot of a high-class nightclub called "The
Docks". It's part of the area of Toronto known as "The Port of Toronto".

When I've been in Toronto and given "The Tour" of FK filming sites, I often
include The Docks' parking lot, specifically the view out across the lake at
Toronto's downtown, of course. :-) It's simply beautiful.

I don't recall whether this has ever been a specific filming site from the
show, which is why I haven't included it on lists that I've given to people
who were assembling filming site lists. As such, it's one of my "secret"
sites, but not anymore. :-) :-)

Just a quick FYI - If you want to be precisely where the sun comes up and
down on the show (the sun coming up and going down over a "sort of bridge"),
go to the Gooderham & Worts distillery. I've never seen the sun going up or
coming down at that exact point, but I imagine that it would be quite a
sight (site :-) ) to see!

I went to Bridging the Knight back in 97. At the time I was a member of
Delta Airlines Crown Room. They gave us LaCroix water. I kept two cans and
gave them to Mr. Bennett at Bridging. To say he was amused is the least of
it. He quietly tucked them in his bag under his seat. I'd say he liked it.

Subject: Aspects of LaCroix

Be warned! Disjointed, awkwardly prosed musings ahead.... "g"

I agree that LaCroix is a man of culture and refinement, and I also must admit
it has been a looooooooong time since I've seen the pilot (or any of the eps,
for that matter), so when I've thought of him or tried to depict him in writing,
I always perceive a suave air to his manner (and, of course, this is generally
supported by fanon). However, I keep remembering that he originally was a
disc-jockey with a rock and roll persona (unless I'm remembering wrong). I also
remember when he took over the Raven and turned it into a sleaze joint, his
emcee-ing was also with that same "bad boy" air. I know those character traits
are sometimes dismissed as aberrations, but I don't prefer to think of it that
way. I like the idea that he has a wild side, a kick-a$$ rock 'n roll side, and
that he can get down and boogy when he wants to. LOL!

I think most of us have a tendency to think of him as this venerable old, scary
guy, but he was only in his early 50's (late 40's?) when brought across. I do
admit that would have been considered very mature in his time, but surely we
would have to agree that LaCroix was never one to fit into any accepted mold. I
think with his hedonistic nature, his vast appetite for experience, his lust for
havoc and for the essence of "life," he probably would persue and enjoy wearing
an infinite number of "hats," if you follow me, especially considering the vast
amount of time he had to fill -- aristocratic mogul, bad boy, murderer, father,
brother, musician, lover, financial player, arts patron, rapist (well, in some
manner -- sexual or otherwise), athlete, elder, advisor, etc., etc. The point
of all this is, basically, to say that I don't think enough of this side of him
has been explored in fiction. Nick was at Woodstock? Well, I don't think
LaCroix would be completely out of place at a Metallica concert! Well....in the best
section, of course.... "g" Come on -- don't you think he would get off on all that
energy, all that life pulsing around him? And the lyrics? Right up his alley.... "bg"

I know I was bad; I know I was supposed to be paying attention during that hour
long, boring meeting, but I did the following instead. "g"

I started wondering, based on my previous post, how LC might react to various
trends, fads, and cultural markers. So I came up with a list -- feel free to
add to this, or create your own, if you want. The following do not necessarily
reflect my personal preferences, but what I would propose as LaCroix'
preferences (ie, would he like it or not):

Ren & Stimpy -- yes, but I can't say why!
South Park -- no, too crude
Dexter's Lab -- maybe, I think yes
Powerpuff Girls -- Scary if he did!
Aeon Flux -- yes
Survivor -- no, pathetic
Dallas -- yes
BTVS -- no (but I do!)
Matrix -- special effects, yes; theme, disturbing
Weakest Link -- yes
Dukes of Hazzard (okay, I was *bored*) -- yes, as long as the sound was turned
down! "eg"
Bay Watch -- see Dukes of Hazzard "beg"
Sopranos -- yes
Queer as Folks -- no, too soapy

So, what do *you* think? "g"
