Subject: Helping KC & her family

Well, the FK fandom is nothing if not generous and helping...

I've emailed Shana, (KCs sister) asking her to send me info about the girls and
what they might want/need for Christmas.

I also asked her to check http://www.overstock.com for anything, since they
offer free shipping. As soon as I get a list, I'll post it, and if anyone wants
to help, they can do that. It might be nice for those of us who are able to buy
a gift and have it shipped to them. I also believe that you can make purchases
at your local Target/WalMart/KMart stores, and pay there, but have your purchase
picked up at a different store. (I'll check into this to verify for sure, and
let you know later today).

In an effort to help them financially, I will donate my services. I'm a
technical writer by trade, and I do resumes for people on the side for extra
cash now and then. So, if you, a family member, or a friend, need a resume, I
will donate my services. I normally charge $50 and up, depending on what they
want done, but will only charge $25 in this case, and no limit on the number of
people or the amount of info in the resume. ALL money will go to KC and her
family to help out. (I'll foot the costs for paper and postage, if any.)

My services will include:
* professional resume (this may involve a telephone call by me to clarify/add
details)
* 15 copies on good paper (optional if you want electronic delivery)
* text-only electronic version for submitting online
* Adobe Acrobat PDF version for sending/faxing electronically, or for you to
print on your own printer
* copy of all files -- avail online or sent via disk

And, of course, keep sending your prayers and wishes to KC and her family in
this time of trouble for them.

To give them a REALLY miserable time, send over Nicholas who will warn them
of about going down the evil path by reciting his list of mistakes and
errors past. If nothing else, that should keep their mitts off the
programming files for a good while. And bankrupt AOL with the resulting
psychologist bills for the poor, shell-shocked AOHell.6.0 programmers

Or how about Schanke? "No, no...you gotta program it like *this* and *This*
Right up the ol' kilobyte." Annoy the heck out of them. Poetic justice.
Then his pizza and souvlaki sauce could smear up their hard drives.

I work at a Target and never heard of that. You can, however, purchase
someone a gift card in any amount of $5 to $1000 which can have additional
amounts added onto it later---like a charge card. Or there is a Target
website where things can be ordered and sent to a private residence. I
imagine the other chains do the same.

I figure the Old Economy will eventually trump the New Economy,
so my vote (oops) would go to ... Don Constantine, the vamp among
dons and don among vamps.

FORKNI-L RULES

1. No flames on list. FLAMERS MAY BE SET NOPOST. THE NOPOST
MAY BE PERMANENT.

2. Please don't quote more than four lines of a previous post in replying.
If you have more than one point to answer, then you may quote the
relevant four lines for that point also.

3. Limit sigs to 6 lines. This includes all information, decoration
quotations and blank lines. Your name and address count as part of
the six. If you sign your name on a separate line above the body of text,
your name and the blank line or lines between count as part of the six
line limit. If you have one of those services that insists on putting an
advertising tag on the end of posts, don't worry. We realize you can't
control that and it doesn't count as part of your sig.

4. Please don't send to the whole list when you are only talking to the
person who wrote the post you are answering.

5. Advertising on list is on a case by case basis. Please consult the
listowners, Lisa McDavid, <mclisa@m.......> or Don Fasig,
<Argent@e.......> for permission.

6. This list is for the discussion of Forever Knight. Cast, crew, staff and
producers in connection with what they're doing now or have done in the
past are ok. Vampires in general are _NOT_ ok except in relation to
Forever Knight.

7. Off-topic posts are not allowed, no matter what they are about or how
urgent the warning may appear. If you have an off-topic post which you
think should appear on the list, ask one of the owners for permission.

8. The private lives of the cast are not a discussion topic. Occasionally
one of the fan club presidents will make an announcement, but other
than that, we leave the cast their privacy.

9. Con announcements must come from con officials or a designated
liaison and must be kept brief. Cons are only announced on list if there
is a connection to FK.

10. Only fan club presidents or other designated spokespeople may
make announcements of future projects for FK cast, crew and staff,
before said projects have been released or written about in the media.

11. No role-playing on Forkni-l. This includes no character names as
pseudonyms or posing as a character.

12. Each subscriber is limited to five posts per day on Forkni-l.

Subject: KC's address

I've heard from KC's sister, Shana.

There are two things we need to be clear on.

1. Please _DON'T_ mention the suicide attempt in anything you send to her.
Her doctor doesn't think it will help her to be reminded of it. She doesn't
remember much about it. Messages of cheer and "thinking of you" are welcome.
KC is a Christian so references to God and scripture are ok.

2. Checks or money orders should be made out to KC or Kelly Smith. That way
she can simply endorse them and Shana can deposit them for her. I'm
supposed to stress for her that no one should feel obligated to send
anything. Ok, I'm stressing but I know this fandom. :)

The kids are girls, ranging in age from 7 to 15.

The address is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Shana said to thank everyone for the e-messages of love and support. They
made KC feel a bit better. Like so many people in her situation, she didn't
think anyone would care.

I e-mailed Shana requesting the similar information when she first posted to
FORKNI-L and have yet to hear back from her. If I hear first, I also will let
everyone know what is needed, etc. Unfortunately, there's little we can do
(that I can think of) but offer our prayers, meditations and good thoughts
until she gets back with us.

Thanks for everyone who is wanting to help! We have several people wanting
to help organize such assistance, so hopefully when we do hear something, a
"team" can be formed.

I should have read all my messages before I posted just a moment ago. ;-)
Anyway, let's show them that FK fans are FRIENDS. If you can't send anything
but a card, please do so (I'm not sure what I can do as of yet!)

I checked at Toys for Tots and I called a local organization about helping
her out. As soon as I get the address I am going to call the churches in her
area and tell them so that she can get some food and toys for the kids. I
don't even have 10 bucks right now, so this is all that I can do for them.
I'm hoping that it is enough, but with all of us helping them we can give
them a good Christmas this year and maybe get them on their feet. Everyone,
if you believe in a higher power, even if it is the power within yourself,
let us all pray for them and hope that they see this rough spot through.

I second what Libs said, I should have looked further down to see KC's
address.... <g> I am calling the Salvation Army and local churches, plus Toys
for Tots. There is a lot that we can do, but we just have to do it. I agree
with Libs also in the fact that even if you send a card, it is something.
