The annual convention of assorted Tracy Vetter fans, Perky Cousins, and other assorted Perky People, aka PerkCon 2000 is going on over that very weekend. We haven't yet finalised a date for the filming site tour that I'll be conducting, but given the fact that Saturday will be your day in town, I'm figuring that I should make Saturday "the day" in order to accomodate you and your friend. (If for whatever reason this turns out to be a problem with the convention attendees, I'll do a tour at a time that's convenient to them AND a tour for you and your friend also. It's not a bother. Torontonians live for this stuff :-) ) >Second, it is still up in the air what we are doing in TO, but just for my >information, I am wondering if anyone still gives tours of the shooting >sites. If so, what is the procedure? (ie, payment, how soon do I have to >let someone know, etc) Bah humbug! Payment shmayment! We never charge for the tours! We probably never will, either. If anyone else is interested in coming along for "The Tour" on Saturday, please drop me a line. Thanks. Oooh! That's horrible! I take it it didn't fair well? You think Nick would have not enjoyed being upside down for so long? Was it 'Hunters' where Janette placaded the vampire upside down in the closet after Schanke had nosed around? The record in the 1920s was 5 days plus some hours (really a six day trip). The record didn't drop to three days plus some hours until the liner United States made a crossing in the 1950s. The fast liners did carry cargo and mail. Generally, small items that there was a rush priority on getting through so someone would pay the premium price. If nick was shipping himself in a crate, I think he'd make sure he got aboard one of the fast liners to limit how much time he spent like a sardine in a can. Anyone who is writing some fiction and wants names and specifications of the ships, send me an e-mail off-list. I have a book on the great liners and I'll pass along whatever I can find. I wasn't expecting much--instead, it knocked my sox off! I feel like I've saved the best for last. I was surprised by how much they "got right" at the very beginning of the show. Showcase TV has a new, very funny promo for FK; it begins as a take-off on the Canadian Blood Service's campaign to attract blood donors. _I'd_ donate for Nick anytime! I'm VERY far behind in reading my ForKni-L digests, so, please accept my apology ahead of time if anyone else has posted about this... This is to let ya'll know that Damon D'Oliveira, who played The Inca in FK season 3 "Black Buddha" #1 and #2 episodes, will be in THIS week's episode of "Relic Hunter" playing "Siddhartha" in the episode "Buddha's Bowl". [This is the repeat airing of the ep originally aired 9/20/1999 as the series premiere, the first ep of the Relic Hunter series.] {{{I had seen some of this ep when it first aired, but did not realize that Damon D'Oliveira was in it until later when I went looking for info on him at the IMDb site <http://us.imdb.com/Name?D%27Oliveira,+Damon> There I found that he had been in it. I also saw that he had also been in some season 1 eps of "Earth: Final Conflict" playing "Sahjit Jinnah". I had also seen him briefly in one of the "Due South" Christmas-type eps as a thief with hair much longer than when he was The Inca in FK, but they don't have that listed at the IMDb page.}}} Info on "Relic Hunter" series <http://www.anotheruniverse.com/tv/relichunter/season1.html> Info on this particular episode "Buddha's Bowl" which was the series premiere http://www.anotheruniverse.com/tv/relichunter/relichunter092499.html FYI, it's an interesting to note that some of us first came to know of Damon D'Oliveira in the FK "Black Buddha" eps, and here, in the Relic Hunter, he portrays "Siddhartha" a.k.a. the founder of Buddhism, a.k.a. "Buddha". Here's an excerpt of what I found in my 1998 Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia under "Buddha": "The word Buddha is a general term meaning one who is enlightened or awakened. It is primarily applied to the historical founder of Buddhism, a prince of a small kingdom spanning northern India and Nepal, who was known as Sakyamuni, which means "the silent sage of the Sakya tribe," and Gautama, his clan name. His personal name was Siddhartha, "he who will accomplish." Legend and controversy shroud Siddhartha's life. <snip>" Hopefully FK fans interested in The Inca and Mr. D'Oliveira will see this post in enough time to look for where and when the "Relic Hunter" series -- a WB program, like "Angel" and "Buffy T.V.S." -- airs in your area. [In the Philadelphia, PA area it's on Saturday nights at 11:00 PM -- I don't know if this is the same everywhere.] ***BTW, if anyone knows of web sites and mailing lists for The Inca, his followers/faction members the INCArnates, and/or Damon D'Oliveira, please either pass any info on to me off-list or even to the ForKni-L list, as on this list I personally know other very devoted Vaqueras like myself who also like The Inca, Javier Vachon's vampire 'brother'! I believe Cousin Mary herself has even included The Inca in a couple of her wonderful stories. [I THINK they are entitled "Mutual Acquaintences" and "That Ol' Black Magic"--and in the latter story, the plane in BB DID NOT explode! Sorry, Cousin Mary, if I didn't get the titles exactly right, but I REALLY did like and enjoy these stories VERY much! Thanks for writting them!!! :) :) :) ] And, FYI, a 'generic Inca' named "Juan Valdez" has also "participated" in one or two of the recent FK Wars, and he and Vachon got along very well!!! *BVaqG* {{{I THINK "Juan" was "invented" by TracySue, the VaqMadre a.k.a. Leader of Vachon's Faction -the Vaqueras/Vaqueros- in recent FK Wars.}}} ~~Angel a.k.a.
