That was my impression, also. Felix was the vampire who liked raising
plants under artificial lights in his greenhouse. (I don't remember
him being an accomplice of Sean's, but more like a friend of Nick's.)
Felix used a little computer-like thing to get information about
Nick's money, and in doing so discovered that the account had been
emptied. Isn't that when Nick went after Sean?

Felix also advised Nick to raise plants as a pasttime, saying "Plants!
Plants are the answer!"

Perhaps the confusion comes because the double role of the modern-day
scumbag/blackmailer and the flashback Nick's-partner-in-crime,
soon-to-be-toast sword-fighting cohort is uncredited (the parts are played
by Colm Feore, a wonderful Canadian character actor and a friend of Ger's
--they played the two Antipholuses (Antipholi?) in that Stratford video of
"The Boys from Syracuse" that Ger's fan club sold for charity a year or
two back).

This was the last episode filmed of the season (although NOT the last one
they showed), so I speculate that Feore did it as a favor to Ger (who was
also directing) for little or no pay when they ran out of money or time.
Bernhard Behrens, who played the elder duChamp, is very hightly regarded
and might cost quite a bit, so they might have blown their budget. And at
least in the States, if a union actor does a role for less than scale he
can often avoid union trouble if he doesn't have a credit. But this is
only speculation on my part, I don't have any certain knowledge in this
particular instance.

And yes, Feliks Twist *was* the computer-expert vampire in the
greenhouse. A wonderful character! I wish we could have seen him again.

I believe it was a flashback that just happened to be taking place while he
was asleep. ;)

His other dream sequences are clearly outside reality. In NiQ, he dreams
that he's with Nat and LC is looking on. There is no precedent for this
dream. What I mean to say is, it's totally fabricated from his imagination.
(I shan't bring up HF since it's still under spoiler protection.)

But with his flashback/dream in BB1, it involves a *real* incident: being
aboard the Titanic. I have no reason to believe he didn't meet Claire in
that exact way. I have no reason to believe he didn't take a little drink
from her wrist. I mean, if he was gonna dream himself a blood drinking
scene, as fueled by guilt as he is, wouldn't he have gone for her neck?
That's why I think it's realistic.

I don't think he killed her though. I just think he took a sip, just like
she offered.

Thank you! That's a step toward determining how innocent Sean was. I
would think that a court would postpone drastic legal action against him
to pay his gambling debts, when money is clearly on the way. But he
didn't look bright enough to think of that. And there is the whole
blackmail aspect.

It's just the timing seems so close, and he never seemed outraged enough,
to convince me that he was innocent. A partners-in-crime deal, turning
into a doublecross against Sean, has at least some evidence on that show.

On the other hand, if anyone wants to claim he was dim-witted and of
shaky but not outright illegal morals, I could certainly see evidence of
that as well.

Sean's gambling debts would not have been taken to court. There are only
three legal forms of gambling in Ontario. The first is buying lottery
tickets. The second is betting on horse-racing at the track. The third
is playing at the government-run casinos. Sean did none of these. He
was gambling in an illegal casino behind Paparazzi and was therefore at
the mercy of the blackmailer (Colm Feore's character -- sorry the name
dripped out of the holes in my occasionally sieve-like brain).

So, Sean had two choices: pay up or suffer the consequences. He chose to
pay up. Since he didn't have access to his father's fortune, that mean he
had to embezzle the funds. And what is easier to embezzle than a trust
fund that is being kept separate from all the other funds.

I believe the place you are thinking about is Jerry Ohlinger's Movie
Materials Store. It is located on 14th St near 8th Ave (if memory serves)
in Manhattan. If I recall, the place has business hours that I can
certainly respect - like 2:00pm to 7:00pm. I don't know the phone number
but I probably still have one of the bags that has more specific
information (phone, hours, and exact street address).

I highly recommend visiting the place - I would call it a "real" NYC
experience. Where else would you expect to find hard-core sci fi nerds
(looking for pix of Patrick Stewart in some of his lesser-known roles)
fighting for counter space with lisping queens (looking at pix of 1940's
Hollywood femme fatales)? An experience not for the timid (but not all
that intimidating because the people who work there are exceedingly nice
toward the uninitiated).

I got a very cool pic of GWD and JK clowning around - it nicely
complements the "unholy trio" pic of Nick, LaCroix and Janette that some
of you may have downloaded from the ftp site (say thanks to Laurie for
scanning in my copy - got it at Jerry's, too!).

In response to the question of whether Nick spices up his blood...
I think the reason he drinks it cold (ick!), and not more closely heated to
body tem is his everpresent guilt over being a vampire. If he must drink

In response to Marcia's comments on reading thoughts...
I know LaCroix can read Nick's thoughts--he mentions this in Unreality tv,
where LaCroix says: we never did get around to that lesson (shielding
thoughts).
I've also always believed that the Nightcrawler monologues are directed at
Nick--they always address something that Nick is facing. And he hits the
nail on the head often. I don't think this is just a ploy of the director to
link in the monologues with the show's plot. The bond between parent/child
in this show is very strong.

I am probably going to get in trouble again, but I have to say this. I don't
know if I'm offended by the above post or not. I'm not homosexual, and I
don't know if homosexuals would be offended by it or not. I _do_ think that
sexual attraction and love between people is one of the best things in the
world, maybe _the_ best thing in the world, and I don't care whether the
people involved are different sexes or the same sex.

In the case of Forever Knight, the parent-child and friendship aspects of
the relationship between Nick and LaCroix have been made explicit. Any
eroticism between them is based on undertones that some people see and on
interviews
with the actors. I want to see Forever Knight succeed, and I want to see it
get the respect it deserves. The danger I see in pushing a point of view
that sees the Nick and LaCroix relationship as a homeo-erotic one or in
giving the possibility of a homeo-erotic relationship priority over the
parent-child and friendship aspects of the relationship is that very
meaningful and poignant aspects of Forever Knight can be lost.

If Forever Knight does come back, I wouldn't want to see the way LaCroix
and Nick relate on screen to change, simply so that no one could possibly
see any erotic feeling there. That would be awful! I also don't want to
spoil anybody's fun. I just wish people would stop pushing this.

And any perception that Nick loves Nat is based on "undertones that some
people see and on interviews with the actors", as well. Which is not to say
that he does or doesn't. However, he never says point blank that he loves
her. All we have to go on is how he acts toward her, and what he says
toward her, and what any of the actors might say. But, for some odd reason,
people seem to have less of a problem with the Nick and Nat couples faction
than the Nick and LaCroix couples faction. Does including an erotic aspect
to the Nick and Nat relationship somehow undermine the friendship/colleague
aspect? Of course not. So why should including an erotic aspect to the
NK/LC relationship undermine the parent/child aspect? It doesn't.

>get the respect it deserves. The danger I see in pushing a point of view

Danger? How is there danger? There is a danger of driving into a ditch
when the roads are slick. There is a danger of getting mugged at an ATM at
night. How can discussing the possible aspects of a relationship be
dangerous? Is it that you think that homoeroticism in and of itself
nullifies anything "meaningful and poignant"? On the contrary, I think
*any* kind of love amplifies exactly those things - meaningfulness and
poignancy.

Homoeroticism no more eradicates the depth of any relationship than does
heteroticism - which is to say that neither does.

Who here is pushing a point of view? No one is saying that you *have* to
see things a certain way. Or at least I'm not. If people don't see the
sensual side of the relationship, then nothing anyone says or does is going
to change their minds. Right? No one is going to convert them. Those
people will go on seeing the relationship as they want, just as we will go
on seeing the relationship as we want. Some people see Nick and Nat as
friends, some as romantic cohorts. Neither side can convince the other to
see it differently. It's called diversity, and I think it's a grand thing.
The more opinions the better. Our opinions no more threaten your take on
the relationship than yours does ours.

> I just wish people would stop pushing this.

I'd really like to know who's pushing it. Me? I have *never* said "this is
the only way to see this relationship and if you don't see it that way, then
you are wrong." Most of the people who belong to the Unnamed Faction have
*always* belonged to the Unnamed Faction - they just didn't have a name for
it yet. No one had to push them into it. Just because we see things a
certain way does not mean we expect or want others to see it the same way.

I don't see how discussing the erotic aspect (which even *I* think is one of
the smaller aspects) of the NK/LC relationship can be construed as "pushing"
a POV anymore than discussing the erotic aspects of the Nick/Nat
relationship could be considering "pushing" a POV. It's just *discussion*
in both cases, period.

Hi all!
What a wonderful way to spend saturday afternoon--with FK!
In regards to some intolerance for a possible relationship, 'erotic kind',
between Nick & LaCroix...This ha been troubling me for some time so I'll put
my two cents worth in.
I've found the idea of a homo-erotic relationship much less alarming when
compared to murder and drinking blood.
Lets all get our priorities straight--I mean, if one will apply christian
values to a relationship between two men, does that also imply that vampires
as well are 'wrong'? Blood drinking is expressly forbidden in the bible.
And for the possible incest factor, well, they are not flesh relatives.
Bonded by blood, this goes outside the norm for any conventional morals to
be enforced. The very idea of a vampire existence goes into the fantasy
realm of imagination. Anything is possible...

I don't remember LaCroix ever doing this. I think the scene in question
is from the second season opener Killer Instinct. In the flashback Nick
has blood on his lower lip from feeding. He and LaCroix have dialog
about the nature of their relationship. Nick, incidently, equates it
with slavery. LaCroix runs his finger across Nick's lip and removes the
blood and sucks his own finger.

The only scene of blood on a finger offered to Nick that I can recall is
the scene in the Raven with Nick and Janette from the first season. Nick
did not take the blood.

In the third season opener Black Buddah, LaCroix was not in the
flashbacks.

I don't know if I've answered your question or not. Just idle rambling.

The scene from which Nick wakes up with blood sweat on his forehead has
Claire saying, "I deserve death... I am the Buddha," and Nick vamping out
and biting her *neck.* This is what I think was a dream sequence; this is
the part I think did not happen; this is the part that I believe to be
part guilt-induced dream and part premonition of what will happen to
Schanke and Cohen -- certainly Nick will take it that way. To the best
of my knowledge, no one is claiming that the *other* scene, the one where
he sips from her wrist, did not occur.

FANTASY???? You mean al this is about fiction??? <vbeg> I have been actively
searching for *real*
vampires since I was a child! I was brough up Catholic, and we were taught
by the church that these *evil*
creatures do indeed exist in the realm of Satan. Sheesh! I spent my last
vacation scouring the streets of
New Orleans at night, just to try to catch ONE glimpse of Lestat.

Fantasy, reality, whatever...I meant that with all the 'unproven' facts given
about vampires, to try to impose on them our judeo-christian values would be
impossibly impractical.
Didn't mean to step on ayone's toes for whom this is not just a tv show about
fictional characters!

You see a book titled "Pumping Irony: Working Out the Angst of
Lifetime" and you think, if Nick had writtine it, it would have been a
LOT longer...(or mayber shorter; he doesn't seem to have worked out much
of his angst, does he?)

You see a swooping, arial view of Toronto in a computer graphics
demonstration, and you think "WHEEEE...It's the vamp cam!"
..then you're confused, because it was a DAYLIGHT view.

You see a couple years-old AHA! CD, and you think that one of the scruffy
but handsome guys on the cover looks like Nick in a flashback. I also
saw a preview for the new disney Hunchback flick, and swore the captain
of the guard looked a bit like GWD...I think I'm having withdrawals.
(And I'm not even focused on GWD...I like the show and all the characters...)

Honestly, I couldn't see it at first, but now that I think about it, it's
definitely possible.

Thank you, Joy! After all, Nick and Jeanette are sister and brother, of
a sort, but no one seems to have a problem with the two of them having a
sexual/erotic relationship. Why, then, should there be a problem with
Nick and LaCroix having a sexual/erotic relationship!

Anyway, I'd like to ask a question really quickly...are there any other
pagans on the list? A lot of the discussion is from a Christian
viewpoint, and while there's nothing wrong with that, <facetious> I just
wondered if anyone else wanted to see Natalie run off and join a coven while
Nick is busy angsting? </facetious>

Oooh, maybe we should start a new faction? *giggle*

It's never really been clear. Seems to be very individual, but I'd say
generally it's more than the Chelsea Quinn Yarbro "wineglass every few days"
but probably less than the Anne Rice "one kill or more a night". From the
way Vachon chugs it (and Nick, too, for that matter), I'll bet they go
through a couple of bottles (say, about a quart) a night. And who *knows*
how much Uncle manages to put away delicately sipping glass after glass...
of course, we are talking bottled as opposed to fresh anyway, which *might*
make a difference.

Geez, the *things* we think about discussing!!<G>

If I am not mistaken, both the physical appearance and other special effects
of the 1989 Nick Knight pilot were done to suggest some relation to "The
Lost Boys" movie, which came out in 1985, I believe. The facial effects
were almost identical, as was the flying. Also, in the Nick Knight pilot,
there's a lovely little throwaway -- when Nick first comes into the Raven,
he gets an "oh, yeah, you," nod from a young blond vampire who looks an
*awful* lot like a certain David from said movie. Hee hee.

Hi all. Quick question regarding Nick's loft. In the first season ep IWR
the piano is located near the stairs, in the third season it is located
near the elevator door. Is there anywhere else you guys can remember it
being. One other thing, the loft's address is 101 Gateway, yes?

Thanks in advance
