Not that I have any say, because I *don't* want Nick and LC together any more than cannot be avoided, but I'm still pulling for "Prodigals," because it conveys something about the *nature of the relationship.* > I didn't say anything before, but I do like "The Seducers" > ....but as a Deadly Team faction - LC and Janette This is very good, imho. On the other hand, I've never really appreciated LC's relationship with Janette. It is even more proprietary than his relationship with Nick. I don't like the way he touches her, and, with one notable exception, I've never liked the way he speaks to her. He takes Janette too much for granted, and doesn't respect her even as much as he respects Nick, who has had the gall to resist him. This is probably due, in part, to the weight of two-thousand years of his experience of cultures oppressing their women... but that's no excuse. ******* Amy, Lady of the Knight (AKR) r@w....... ******* "Why are you looking among the dead for one who is alive?" --Luke 24:5 ========================================================================= Date: Sun, 7 Apr 1996 13:11:14 0800 From: Dann Lunsford <dann@g.......> Subject: SCI-FI and FK pilot I just took a look at the Sci-Fi channel's schedulebot, and I am confused (which, come to think of it, is my normal state of mind). Point. :) I keep forgetting Serena... :) Anybody want to copy BB? :) However, if Nick is capable of bringing people across successfully, then so must be Janette. However, she has never brought anyone across. In IWR, she gives Nick two reasons. 1) She's just not the mothering type. That, I think, can be conclusively refuted, by the very nature of the Raven and by FF, not to mention ykw. 2) She's too much of a glutton. So, do we buy that? But, DESPITE his treatment, Nick has managed to cling to that better side of himself <SNIP> Although I don't think that Nick is neccesarily a wimp, but, I am sick of the excuse "Its the way they were treated as a child". Nick is far from being a fledgling now, he is an adult and an adult vampire. He could have snipped the apron strings with LC, long ago. Yes, I know that he has tried to get away from him on occasion, but right now I think what we are seeing is them coming to an understanding with one another. I also think that this is responsible for his disagreements with Nat. He no longer needs Nat as a "crutch". He has experienced many losses in the past year and he has survived them. I think that LC has come to realize this too and is allowing him to stand on his own. Nick is realizing though that it isn't really a bad thing to want to have one's parents around. Its a natural cycle of events, even in humans. And just as many have detested an overbearing mother-in-law, Nat resents LC's hold on Nick. But this season we have seen LC come to Nick's aid and Nat has had to except it, just as we have seen Nat comes to Nick's and LC has had to take the backseat. Each of them are starting to realize that there is no sense fighting over him, he really isn't theirs to fight over and I think that he has made this more apparent to both of them. For me, Nick's biggest dilemma is the fact that (I think) he enjoys being a vampire. He gets a kick out of it and he likes the powers that come along as perks. He's a better cop for them and he has saved quite a few humans with their usage. But still, he wants his mortality, or, does he? It would mean the loss of the perks. It would be harder for him to redeem himself without them. So long as he is ingesting cow blood, he has no guilt. Sure, he can't "have" Nat, but thats a neccesary sacrifice right now. When asked about this, they told me that Neilson always identifies themselves up front when they call. My feeling on this is someone was playing a joke on you. I may be wrong, but kids often like to do stuff like this. Remember Prince Phillip in the can anyone? Since I've decieded to actually post, a few other things. To the perks, my only problem with Tracy is the writers leaving that chip on her shoulder. In BB I could understand. She felt she had to prove herself. By NiQ, she has a partner who accepts her, and a boss who compliments her. Why then does she feel she still has to go running off to catch the bad guy all by herself without letting anyone know. Also, I feel she should find out about Nick. IMO it's rather silly for her to know about vamps without knowing about Nick. One last thing. I do not think Kindred had anything to do with FK being cancelled. Look at KF's history. After the pilot, it was some time before the series aired. Then it was cancelled, and had to be brought back after a year or so passed. Then after second season they thought about cancelling again with a long break before new eps. were filmed. What Kindred does have that FK didn't is a known and sucessful producer who has major backing. This enables him to get prime time and an advertising budget. I rather thought it has promise. I like very few show when they first start, but as the actors grow into there roles often the show improves. Roberta Thanks to Cheokee for the information. I had learned that Indian Giver was the phrase attached to the Indian Agents who were supposed to give funds or materials to the Indians, but kept or sold them, keeping the profit themselves. I think this next week's episode is Fever. I showed two episodes of FK to my friend who is visiting from England, who has been hearing about the show for a couple of years (not just from me). I showed him AMPH and then last night we just happened to catch Strings. he doesn'twatch tv at all, so the positive comments he made (I can see why you really enjoy this show) just about floored me. He put down his book to watch strings, too. Anyway, does anyone on list know when the show airs in St. Louis? there is an egyptological conference there next weekend, and I will be there along with folks who might be interested in seeing the episode if the timing is right. Please let me know if anyone does have the information. Thanks. I thought she caved in horribly. Well.... yes. She did. And she didn't even get kissed for it. But BEFORE she caved in horribly, she temporarily stood up for herself. :) This is MBIAV, for goodness's sake.
