Hey Guys!! Don't get mad at me, but I just had a very horrifying thought
about the last ep.!! What if they kill everyone off, or even a couple people
off??? Then even if we DO win, which we WILL, they will have to get a whole
new cast!!!! Who would they get to be Nick? Bruce Willis? Or how about LC?
Brad Pitt? or someone from 90120 to play Vachon!!!! I'd cry!!! I'm not sure,
but I don't think I could watch with anyone else playing those parts. Those
guys just have a "knack" for "being" those characters!! But, if they DO kill
anyone off in the last ep. I'd be VERY willing to completly forget the last
ep. and everything that happened and they could pick up where they left off
as if no one ever died!!! That'd be fine with me!! Anyone else?? OK, Im done
giving everyone nightmares now, as if the last ep. isnt a nightmare in
itself!!!! bye! HorCgal

Yes, it's been known to happen.

I think you have that backwards.
Brad Pitt would play Nick because he did a pretty good job at being
angsty in IWTV and he has blondish hair. Bruce Willis would play LC
because he has the right 'do' for it.

Hey, if they can do it in Star Trek, they can do it in FK too! They do
that with all those Friday the 13th movies, HellRaiser, and Nightmare on

Nope, y'all still have it backwards. If they killed a character, they
wouldn't be able to do that character at all anymore, correct? Therefore,
they could easily have the same cast if they wished, but different
characters. They aren't going to axe the *actors* after the last episode,

What's scary is, when I saw your first post, I thought you took that as a
tribute to Nigel! Then I felt stupid when I saw your real name and saw that
those were your real initials! Ooops!

And you know you've been reading, writing too much FK Fic when:

I'm watching SportsCenter (ESPN, for the sports impaired) and they are
saying how Wayne Gretzky got injured when he got dumped to the ice by Doug
Gilmour. I think, "Yup, that's because of Gilmour's superhuman strength!"
Then I have to remember that Gilmour was not brought over by Vachon in a fit
of rage. You really must read Kim Low's brilliant story, "Temper Temper"

And I'm watching, of all things, "Too Wong Foo, Thanks For Everything, Julie
Newmar" and the "boys" are riding along in their banana yellow, cadillac
convertible, and think, hey, Nick should paint his that color! Maybe I
should do a story where he does!

Oh yes, the piece de resistance:

Also, after watching said movie, and being reminded of the "Simpson's"
episode where Bart, and Todd Flanders are in this minigolf tournament, and
Homer and Ned Flanders make this bet, where in exact words, "the father or
the boy that does not win" have to "mow the lawn in his wife's best Sunday
dress" Get this brilliant idea for fanfic: Urs and Alina (the vamp I
created) have this blood drinking contest. And LaCroix and Vachon have this
bet where, (of course) "The lover (or ex) of the female vamp that does not
win, has to dress up like a drag queen and strip in front of everbody in
The Raven." Oh, and of course, there is a tie, snicker snicker. I guess
you could call this my entry in a "Thong Challenge Story" Should I attempt
this?

Ya know this whole K:TE vs. FK thing is getting really asinine.

The Anne Rice lists are pissed because "They stole so much from Anne Rice"
The Vampire: The Masquerade/White Wolf lists are pissed because the show
"Isn't anything like the game is" (Which considering that it *is* based on a
made up game is *really* hysterical) and the Vampire lists are pissed
because "the vampires aren't like they are in real life. They made so much
up".

If you don't like the show because the acting/dialogue/plot is bad. Ok.
Fine. No problem here. Even the "Aaron Spelling is a shmuck hack who
shouldn't be allowed near a studio" I can understand. But this
consistent comparison of Fk with Kindred "FK was the best show on tv and
I'm pissed with the unfairness of it getting axed and the Kindred getting
aired that I'm going to hate it on principle." is just getting annoyingly
repetitive. Especially since this is a FK list not a Kindred list. I would
be very interested in knowing how everyone would have felt about it if FK
hadn't been cancelled, but since that's impossible, I'll never know.

i'm sorry if I sound nasty, but after a few days of reading basically the
same posts on three lists and 5 newsgroups, I've pretty much had it.

Do I like Kindred? I'll wait until they show all of the six shows they have
filmed before I can make up my mind.

I totally agree with you.
Yes, it's not the same as FK, and I don't believe that they intended it
to be. I will *sorely* miss Nick and LaCroix and everyone. Admittedly,
Kindred needs to be more dark. Julian just isn't dark enough for me - he
needs more backbone.I don't feel quite as mesmerized as I did when I
first saw Nick and LaCroix.

However:

Please remember, everyone, this is their first air dates and they have a
lot of character development to go through and need to work out all the bugs
yet. They need to hear from us. I liked the show because it's about
vampires and I could find some funny similarities. I like the idea of
vampire clans but I wouldn't want it to totally focus on a
"mafia-type war". We see enough gang war on the news. I want them to show
that there is a good side to vampires like we see in FK. Nick stopping
crime and violence, not promoting it. I *Love* FK because of the characters
and the storyline. Agreed, Kindred needs some work. All we can do is hope
they get better. If they do, then maybe we can get our FK back.

> i'm sorry if I sound nasty, but after a few days of reading basically the

Agreed. As you said, this isn't the Kindred list. We should send our
replies to that list or the Kindred's TPTB. Those are the people who need
to hear it, right?

As for me, the jury is still out.

No, getting cured in itself doesn't erase the sins of his past, unless
the cure involves an act of God's grace and forgiveness (the show
to me seems to lean more toward a Christian religion bias). However,
a cure would remove something that Nick has to live with on a daily
basis--the natural urge to drink human blood and to kill. He would
not have to struggle to contain his vampire nature any longer.

>He'll still feel guilty about what he's done if/when he's mortal
>again.

Well, depends on the type of cure, but yes, this is possible. But
with the vampire gone and his soul freed from the taint of vampirism,
Nick will be able to seek God's forgiveness. It's the only way his
sins can be atoned for. But, of course, he's rich and I also imagine
he would still try to be in a position to do good for his fellow
humans (not as a cop, I don't think). And I would think that his
experience of being on what he perceived as the "evil" side would give
him more assurance to trust in "good" and God.

I was struck by a terrible vision. Nick becomes cured of Vampirism, then
in a fit of Nick-like angst he becomes a Catholic priest to seek God's
forgiveness and attone for his sins. Sorry Nat, just had to do it. Poor
Nat, talk about getting your knickers in a twist.

From: Sandra Gray <TMP_HARKINS@d.......>

>>I just thought it would be neat to discuss the episodes as they air.
The Monday they show Dark Knight, anyone that wants to make comments
about it after its airing makes comments about it. That's all. I
know I joined this list after having seen most all of first season
and I thought it would be neat to see some discussion of these eps
as they air.<<

Ditto, Sandra! I was brought across mid-second season and am dying to
discuss the earlier episodes! I don't know that we'd need the spoiler list,
but no matter where we discuss them, I want to discuss them!

Incidentally, this is what I hope to do for the AOL FK chats once we're past
the last (sob!) of the new episodes. Whatever is shown on SciFi Channel on a
given Monday, that's what we'll be discussing at the FK chat later that same
night. And hopefully a list of eps and a schedule will be posted on list so
that those who don't get SF channel but have tapes can watch their tape and
discuss with us.

And while I have most of your attentions, I want to support anyone's opinion
about The Other Show, but in particular I applaud anyone (like Sandra) who
views the show with an open mind. There are things I liked about TOS and
things I didn't like about it. My watching that show in no way touches how I
feel about FK because they're so different. Comparisons are difficult, IMO.
I will watch Kindred, but it's because of my fascination with vampires. I
will still prefer FK. Nothing can touch that, even Julian Luna. The
television industry, we all know, makes no sense and has little to do with
providing quality programming. So I take the good and leave the rest.

I like this. I like this a lot. I'm having a blast right now writing
"Transitions" which is set in my ultra favorite time frame, namely the Rosy
Limbo Between 2nd and 3rd Season in which EVERYONE is alive and is close
enough in time that I can even throw in 3rd season characters if I want! And
I do - Tracy is in "Transitions", too! Schanke, the late and the dear, is
too good of a character to have to be without, and I relish writing him into
my stories, especially this one.

I know that for some reason or other, money, politics, plot devices, etc.
characters are killed or radically changed, but Jamie is right in that we can
do ANYTHING in fiction because it is precisely that, and I can see where we
can extend that into the wars as well. After all, FK would be classified by
many as "science fiction" and in that genre as well as the related genre of
fantasy, you can pretty much do as you please. We're not exactly expecting
publishers to approve of what we do - we write to please ourselves, at least
I do. I want to please me first, then my readers.

So, Schanke will live on, Screed will happily munch rats, Janette will always
be her spectacular self, etc. If we want. And I want.

Watch for "Transitions" - the Immortal Beloved/Valentines story you've waited
for.
"Nice perfume, Knight - 'Eau de Liaison' or something, isn't it? And hey, I
really like this shirt - but silk is a little formal for a homicide
detective, right?"

This thread borders on spoiler discussion of the last episode.
Please take any discussion that would relate to *any* of the last
four episodes that are yet to air (even if it's just speculation
or speculation on rumors) to fkspoilr where it can be avoided by
those of us who don't want to be spoiled on the last eps. Thanks.

AOL was extremely busy and lost two downloads. Is there any way I can get
copies of: "FORKNI-L Digest - 4 Apr 1996 to 5 Apr 1996 - Special issue" and
"DEBSPLAY Digest - 4 Apr 1996 to 5 Apr 1996".

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

OBFK - I was scanning tapes and still love the scene with Janette and Emily
Weiss where Emily asks Janette if she wants a drink. I also love the one
where Nick admits to Nat that Emily's books hit more than they miss.

Well, considering this is a Forever Knight list, the only reason anything on
the Kindred should even be here is in comparison to Forever Knight and if
you don't like it you don't belong on this list. Secondly, since you didn't
sign on with a name is always a little suspect anyway (who are you) but
don't complain about FK when you're on an FK list. That's like walking into
a gay bar and complaining because you see guys kissing each other.

This is a Forever Knight list first and foremost. Anything else listed here
is in comparison to FK. Most of us feel FK is superior to Kindred and don't
like Kindred for many reasons and chief among them is the fact that FK is a
better show. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

AH, now I know who you are. If FK were still on the air, perhaps we
wouldn't be so upset about the Kindred as we are. However, that doesn't make
the show any better. Bad is bad and I don't believe anyone who dislikes it
because the acting is bad, or the stor is bad would like it even if FK was
on. I agree the FK vs K:TE is irritating, it's time to stop it. It doesn't
belong here anymore.

And ofcourse great minds think alike - this list is full of great minds!!
And I am proud to be in their company!!
