In first season's Dance By the Light of the Moon, the flashbacks
deal with a mortal Nick's seduction by Janette. Nick and his
crusading buddies are partying in a tavern. Nick spies Janette by
a door, and she mouths, "How badly do you want me?" The next
flashbacks have them in a private room at various stages of the
seduction (and quite sexy scenes they are too ;) ). Anyway, they
engage in sex (I think, although some people don't agree with this),
but Janette does not apparently bite Nick that I can see. Afterwards
she goes to the door to the room and opens it, and LC enters. Nick
sits up more on his bed/couch or whatever it was and says, "Who are
you?" Janette says, "His name is LaCroix." LC says, "Hello,
Nicolas. We're going to be friends." He uses vampire speed to
move closer to the bed/couch and, eyes changed and fangs bared, adds,
"For a long...long time." But LC is still not within reach of Nick
so we don't see him bite him.

In second season's Near Death, we get more details. Again, we don't
see the actual biting of Nick. He is shown after being bitten
lying on a bed or something unconscious. During this time, Nick
has a near death experience, where he sees a door of light with a
black clad and veiled woman in it. She wants him to come into the
light and Nick asks essentially what's in it for him if he does.
She won't explain and Nick says that LC has offered him endless
nights. Also, during this scene we hear LC's voice calling Nick to
come away from the light and back to him. Flashing back to LC and
Janette, Janette worries that he won't come back saying, "Oh, I
want him." (which has led to speculation that LC brought Nick over
for Janette). But LC is sure he will and Nick does. He comes
back to himself sucking blood from LC's wrist. LC pulls his wrist
away and Nick's next action is to get Janette in a lip lock. ;)
And, ah, that sheer white nightie Nick has on! Drool! ;9 (Sorry,
Knightie lust attack. ;) )

--Sandra Gray, forever Knightie
--tmp_harkins@d.......

PS.--Janette makes much in DBTLOTM about how "the darkness was
always there" in Nick and "Only darkness can satisfy you." and how
Nick was a "Brave knight. Good, strong, defender of the cross."
So, although it's not strictly said, LC may have just thought it
would be cool to corrupt a Crusader knight.

In "Dance by the Light of the Moon" Nick is apparently at some kind of
celebration after returning from a crusade. Janette, one of the women
there, goes to him and entices him, asking him how much does he want her.
Well, I'm assuming it's pobably been a bit since he's - er - been with a
woman and Nick practically jumps on her right there. But she leads him to a
back room, talking about accepting the darkness if he wants her, etc. Then
she climbs on top of him and things get a little progessively hotter.
Afterwards, LC enters the room, and offers his gift. I am supposing (after
seeing Near Death) that Janette took a very strong liking to him and you
know LC and his children....

Dear Karen,

Simply put, FKSPOILR is very much like FORKNI-L, except that we discuss
eps under "spoiler protection", that is, eps that all listmembers may not
have seen. This allows those who want it the joy of experiencing something
for the first time, be it the ending of the ep, Nightcrawler's monologue(s),
Fred's score, or whatever.

Speculation on the final four eps of this season (I will NOT call them
the "final eps"!) is also limited to the spoiler list. There has been a LOT
of this, especially as regards Last Knight, the season finale, as the number
of eps under spoiler protection dwindle.

Actually, the spoiler list is for discussion of new episodes (and
spoiler info from eps that haven't been aired yet) primarily. You
won't find much "general" discussion or other non-spoiler discussion
(that's what forkni-l is for).

Well, there are *some* reasons to reread a book, even if you know it
well. :-) While I don't have total recall, I do remember what I read
*pretty* well, depending on how comprehensible I found it, and how
interested I was. (At least one listmember, who has been forced to sit
through my recitation of the weird characters in the middle of the People
Poll URL, has direct evidence of this.) And, even with books that I *do*
know well enough to recite, rereading can be a glorious thing. (And it's
not like Nick avoids going over the same experience again, and again, and
again....)

OTOH, I suppose that once you'd read the best, and much of the second- and
third-best that any genre you liked had to offer, the sort of stuff that
most of us will settle for would be less than enticing.

In any event, while I cannot imagine a life without books (despite having
been deprived of the ability to read for a few years due to an increase in
disability-related symptoms) and other text input, I do know plenty of
people who read little if ever, but whose depth and intellectual capacity
I admire. They tend to take material from other sources and use it much
as I (try to) use books.

So I could imagine an 800-year-old who read at one time, and then turned
away from the habit. I could also imagine an 800-year-old who *never*
read for pleasure, but who learned in other ways.

Chuckling as I get an image of Nick lying on his couch rubbing his
legs together. ;)

They are? Why do I remember them being black?

I'm glad we're not comparing vampires to katydids.

I can imagine Vachon here during the days of the rein of the Cherokee and
fighting for the Cherokee when they were forced out of the Smoky
Mountains to march to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears. I can also imagine
him during the time of the Civil War. But I debate with myself which side
he would be on. Would he be for the North? He says that he is always for
the underdog...that was definitely the South. He enjoys living life
independently and I think he would support the South from wanting to
separate from the North. But how would he feel about the issue of
slavery. I don't think he would like that. So, in that circumstance,
I think he would support the North??? Opinions???

I'm glad to know that someone else thought this was a s--l--o--w day!
I was aftaid there was a problem with my new email program!

I got email today from the SciFi channel, saying that FK definitely
would not be shown on the USA channel anymore, but that there might be
"local affiliates" who would continue to show it in their areas. This
might be good news for some of us who don't get the SciFi channel.

Glad to hear that Ger is hanging in there on the People poll. I think
I'll go vote (again).

What an image!!!!!! LOL!!!! But the question is would Nat come??? What
sound would Nick's legs rubbing together make??? Is that why he keeps a
piano.... to accompany his musical legs?

You're right!!! My brain went off into grasshopper heaven! But I would
hate to think about why any of the fkers would be black...hopefully not
too much time in the sun. When they bake in the sun...they would really
bake huh????

At least I'm catching up with some of my mail.

Hate to burst the bubbles, but, the word from my syndie is that they are
only showing FK through Sept (or was that until Sept). At the time they
said that after that it would only be shown on USA, but now I guess that
means it will only be shown on the SciFi channel.

For some reason, this post gave me a mental image of a very
perplexed-looking Nick w/Jiminy Cricket perched on his shoulder...

You mean there are OTHER people who have nothing better to do with their
weekend evenings than sit at home and wait for e-mail? Oh, good, I don't
feel so lonely...

What are katydids? Are they something I would find in the city? I think I
remember someone trying to explain the concept of a katydid to me once.
Apparently, the lesson failed to 'take'.

I'm glad we're not comparing vampires to cicadas. I hate cicadas. They're
like miniature helicopters. I nearly had one fly into my forehead once.
Talk about freaked out... I ducked like someone had lobbed a grenade at me!

Ways In Which Vampires Are Like Cicadas: I wouldn't want one of those to
crash into me during flight, either.

I would love to go to the Gerthering too - but as you say, that is
definitely to far away. California is just too far to stretch my husbands
sense of humor - at last this year. Maybe next time...

However, the Shrewthering is definitely exciting to me - almost more
exciting is the fact that I get to meet so many folks on this list up close
and personal - to be able to put faces to names will be sooo cool. And being
able to Ger in tights is definitely a plus!!

Since I rarely post, and since WBBM here in Chicago has in THEIR
ALL-KNOWING WISDOM decided to put on some Melrose Puke/90hatehatehate show
in place of my beloved Forever Knight, here I am.

(Actually it's 11:35 p.m. and I just checked and "Fever" was just starting.
Luckily I have excellent copies, at SP speed, of their original showing.
I still hate this station with a passion since they messed up several
episodes by showing SPORTS (barf, blech, cough) over the past couple of
years. Worse than that is the Spanish channel one frequency up the dial
that lately tends to become One with Channel Two. A visual mixture of the
two just does not work for me. But I begin to rant.)

There has been great talk about our Hero's anatomy lately, a discussion
that personally I've found highly amusing. From chests to butts to
"precious bodily fluids" makes me wonder what's next? Not that I'm
offended; that single word "Try!" comes to mind. But it did get me to
thinking of creating some type of the Best of FORKNI-L document. We've
bantered about many excellent topics over the past two and a half years.
Of course, I think this would be a group project since I don't have access
to all the materials and my opinion of "best" is not anyone's else's.

What do you think?

p.s. I've been combing the posting for various FK-related webpages as well
as FKlistmember's personal ones, all based on the addresses you give in
your messages. I do plan to make a webpage of them, if this hasn't already
been done or isn't already being worked on by others (let me know if I'm
duplicating work or stepping on tootsies here.) So please send me your
addresses if you'd like to see them all in one place; or, let me know if
you DON'T want them passed about. Just mention FKweb in the subject line
so I can zero in on them. Thanks. m

Well, we know Nick was a Union doctor (Unreality TV) and LC was your
typical parasit ( :) ). Vachon should be on the Union side, but I
can't see him fighting in a Union uniform. Maybe he'd be a spy or
someone helping slaves instead.
