Oh, yea I forgot. This is really a "Spelling Bee" more than anything else,
isn't it. Man, it just makes me so crazy the unfairness of it all. Business
as usual has been and always will be whoever has the most toys, wins. Ah
well. That's alright, think of the giggles we'll have when it crashes and
burns.

Now, on to much pleasanter things. I'm watching this Bud Lite commercial
and all I can picture is Nick walking into the Raven and saying "But I said
LaCroix Lite...." I know, I know, it's the stress.....

Yes, I promised to wash the Caddie in the next war, things going the way
they seem to be going in which I may very well be able to participate (the
<one> bonus). Yes, I would prefer to do it in daylight for obvious reasons
(read war 3 and parts of war 4 for said reasons).

So I can't fulfill my vow until the next war. Nyaaah!

And I <have> gotten a spot at the Weekend With Ger. So barring bankruptcy
(probable) or working commitments (who the heck knows), I'm gonna be there.

While I was watching "Blind Faith" the first time, I thought the same thing.
When Nick was asking him about the carouche(sp?), It seemed like I was
missing about half of what Screed was saying, but I did hear "defective
Knight" and thought perhaps everything he was saying must have been pretty
funny as well. Later, I watched that scene through again, with the Closed
Captioning on - instant sub titles. FYI all TV's sold in the US after 1 Jan.
1993 have to have Caption decoders built into them, fortunatly, mine is new.
If anyone with an older TV is really interested in seeing this scene (or any
thing else from this season) with open captions, I can make open caption
copies.(Open caption means you can see the word written out.)

I have a newbie question. At what point is an episode no longer under
spoiler protection?

Also, this is my last thing on this posting...I may have an oppertunity to
"bring someone across", does anyone when and if FK air in syndication in New
Haven, or Hartford?

Thanks---Sorry if I seem to be babbling, I have a bad habit of doing that.

OK,
Bringing someone across means makeing fans out of them, right? So,
if you bring someone across, what does that intittle you to?? Let me put it
another way- What's in it for me??
Also, in the next war couldn't we, like, set time back to just after
Vachon arrived in Toronto, but right *before* Schanke got on the plane??
Right before everything started to go wacko? Nick could invent a time
Machine to go back to before he became a vamp, but Lacroix steals it, they
fit, something happens, blah, blah, you get the idea...

Subject: Did LC love Fleur? (long)

Sandra writes;
>>Regarding Felicia's comments, if LC was in love with Fleur, then why didn't
he ignore Nick's arguments and bring her over<<

I believe LaCroix did love Fleur. Why? Because he *didn't* bring her over.
Why didn't he bring her over? Because Nick's argument must have struck him
deep down as being the truth. The purity he saw in Fleur *was* what
attracted him to her. Now why he was attracted to purity all of a sudden is
beyond me, but he was, so there you go. Now working with that in mind, LC
knew that becoming a vampire could easily change one's personality to some
degree. If Fleur had to go and kill someone she would have to change. She
couldn't keep up the innocent thing even if she tried. She might learn to
like the vampire way, but after Nick brought it up, LC must have started to
worry about what she might become. If she did enjoy it then she wouldn't be
the same person who LC was first entranced by. And if she didn't enjoy it
she'd just be another Nick. Janette is still the best child btw! Anyway,
LaCroix must have realized that he loved what he saw in Fleur from the first.
He really truly loved it, even though he knew how destructive love could be
to a vampire. When he was about to bring her across, before Nick broke in,
he wasn't thinking about all the consequences because, as we all know,
LaCroix is a master of denial (see Sons of Belial). After Nick brought these
problems to light he knew Nick was most likely right. It was because of his
love for Fleur that he would not give in to his usual selfish impulses, and
bring her across, forcing her to accept the darkness.

>>He's brought over other people on less provocation than love (Alexandra,
the Vietnamese vampire, Daniel). So why not bring over Fleur?<<

To me, that just proves my idea. All these people were brought over because
of less ideal reasons than love. In each case he didn't care about their
feelings at all. He did it for his own amusement in the case of Alexandra
(the barmaid I think?) entertained by the idea that Nick can't do anything
right, not even kill someone, so LC being malicious, just made it worse. The
Vietnamese vampire was made because LC was interested in Nick's talk of
justice but was annoyed with him for not going about it in any useful way. I
saw that as something like an experiment in revenge. Like he'd created a
hellhound vampire bent on vengeance, simply so he could enjoy watching the
outcome. Daniel was brought over to spite Nick, and make Janette happy,
certainly not because LC liked the kid or cared about him (as the hiss
proves).
So to me, when I see LC bringing people across, with the exception of Janette
and Nick, I see it as a self-serving, or malicious action. He enjoys doing
it just to see what will happen to them, or more likely to Nick when he finds
out. Fleur was obviously (IMO) *not* brought over because she was more to
him than all the other insignificants he had put the bite on in the course of
his life.
But, after saying all that, I still think Nick should have let him do it.
Why? Because even if LaCroix wasn't selfish enough to have followed his
baser feelings, *I* am. I feel he should have been given the chance to love
Fleur as one of his own. And Fleur should have been given the chance to love
him, and to experience more than what her life as a woman of the 13th century
would allow her to do. Not to mention it would have given Janette someone to
talk to, as she seemed to like the idea of her being with them. And it would
have gotten LaCroix off Nick's back for all those centuries. Nick could also
be able to pursue his love with Nat without fear of retribution at every turn
from LC.

Does anyone out there know is there is more than Part 1 to The Guilt Trip by
January Tavel? I got it from the fiction archive and it seems incomplete. Its
a prequel to Nightie Night and I'd love a copy of that as well.

I'm also searching for Laura's story Blood is Thicker Than Water. Where can I
find that?

Last, but not least, I keep getting my mail to the author of Gambits & Feints
kicked back to me as undeliverable and user unknown. I was wondereing if
there is a sequel in the works or if it just ends with Lacrois bringing Jane
to Toronto.

Sorry for taking up the time of all of you on the list for the above

Okay. I've been trying to come up with a way that I can nonviolently do
my part to make sure FK reigns supreme over the corpse of The Kindred.
And while I'd rather have a billion dollars to produce any kind of TV
show I want, I don't. So I'll have to do the next best thing and write
about it. I'm scrapping the Eternal Champion story I *was* writing for
Sweet Revenge, and now I'm gonna have a rival werewolf show bite the
proverbial dust. Strange powers, don't fail me now!

Like most everyone else, I am really peeved that while MY favorite
vampires are going into "hiatus", these new silicone-injected (does this
constitute a flame? Woopsie!) vampires are getting all this great
press. The pen, as the saying goes, is mightier than the sword.

with that story. My thanks to Jamie Melody Randell for line edits and

"really, really cool."

ObFK: Just rewatching "Buddha, Buddha" and noticed that Reese corrects
himself when he says that Vetter would have been paired with Schanke if
Nick had gone with the prisoner. It occurs to me that Schanke would have
been *the best* partner for Tracy. He could have taught her about being a
team player, about making a name for *herself* while still understanding
the "daddy's little girl" angle and perhaps gaining some insight into his
own realtionship with Jennie.

You get a new person to blather about Forever Knight to. You get to watch
the new person choose an affiliation -- or refuse to choose. You get to
make cool in-jokes about bricks and q-tips and Ribena. Y'know, fun stuff
like that.

I would humbly like to propose a new rule for the next and subsequent Wars:

NOBODY DIES. NOBODY EVER DIED.

Oh, the show says so? Too bad. Schanke and Cohen got on the wrong plane
by mistake. Whatever. Who cares what justification we have to come up
with to make it work? These are OUR wars, dammit, and this is OUR version
of canon, where LaCroix has a goldfish and there are supersoakers stashed
at the Raven just-in-case... This is the benefit of operating in a
fictional universe: when things happen that we don't like, we can *rewrite*
them. We can create a world in which new characters are welcome, but the
old ones never left.

What do you guys think of this idea? "Agree or disagree? Discuss."

.... There were television shows. There were good television shows and
there were bad television shows, with a few mediocre shows thrown in for
balance. People had their favorite shows and the shows they just would not
watch.

They enjoyed the social aspect of being able to talk about what they watched
last night (Spoiler List) and they liked to make up their own stories about
what could have happened (FK-Fic). Some people just liked to talk about the
show in general and delve deeper into what could/might be behind the story
(FK-List).

There was general friendliness and comradery throughout the lists and it was
good. A way to get away from 'real life'. A place where you could be
*whatever* and *whomever* you wanted to be without fear of retaliation
(flames) or being rideculed. Where did this place go????????????

Being *one of those* who was rideculed/mocked/bully targets and generally
described as 'weird', 'strange' and other such derivitives, I had a *very*
active fantasy life and an excellent imagination. I became an avid reader
of all genres, and wrote many mental stories never to appear on paper.
Being a *lonely only*, I had enormous amounts of free, lonely time on my
hands. I have *never* really fit in anywhere, and can count the number of
friends that I have on one hand. I am not asking, nor do I want your pity,
that is not the reason for this.

When I was *introduced* to Forever Knight during the beginning of the second
season, I was hooked *instantly*. I **loved** the show, having read tons of
information and books, everything I could get my hands on, regarding
Vampires. I felt that joining these lists would be a way to express that
part of myself that almost always remains in hiding. I felt free.

It saddens me greatly that the only place to freely express one's self is on
the Jadfe list. I have not been flamed *once* for any post that I put
there. I have been from this list. It seems to me that some people are
taking things a *little* too seriously. This is a fantasy place, a magic
place, a place for people like me (and I *know* that you are out there) to
be free of the bonds that 'real life' places on our ids.

Please, please, please, if not for my sanity.... for the masses yearning to
be free??????

Subject: BE MY VALENTINE Nick/Lacroix/Fluer

As a sacrifice I re-watched BMV (what a sacrifice!<ecg>) and came up with a
theory.

Lacroix is/was/is? in love with Fleur. Despite his cardnal rule of no
interaction with mortals, he was definitly in love with Fleur. Nick was
against Lacroix bringing her accross because it would end the family
blood-line. Nick tried to convince Lacroix that is was her "purity" that
Lacroix was drawn to and that which he would destroy. Lacroix took the
moment and tried to snap back to reality by leaving Fleur behind. Now that
800 years has passed, Lacroix still feels the twinges of pain from the love
that never was. And Nick is still Nick.

Now here's my own question about BMV -- In the scene where Nick shows Fleur
the truth, Nick throws Lacroix against the wall and says:
    "Please,Fleur! Listen to me! I DO NOT regret what I am . . ."
Did Nick mean what he said? Was he happy with being a vamp at that moment or
just faking it for some reason?

Now I'm confused :(

Hi, I'm back from the dead, so to speak and have I got a story or two!

I suppose this should be entitled YKYBAround FK Fiends *yes fiends*
too long when:

Last week I went to the blood drive on campus, much to my
fear of blood donation to see if I could infact give some.
So it turns out I can and I do. Boy -that's something I won't
        be doing again soon.

As a result of this donation I received a spreading bruise, and
couldn't use my right arm until just recently. I have a point, I
swear. My pal Keith looked at my arm and said "Damn, I've seen
vampires that have taken blood more efficiently than that!"

To which I replied "Obviously you've never seen Nick in the first
season..." And of course, he was clewless...

Ok, so to wrap up some loose ends:

        1) I promise to never flame Tracy (even if she IS...nevermind)
        2) Yes Uncle DID love Fleur, but not bringing her across was NOT
           a sigh of his love...puhlease...
        3) The Other Show will never get a good review from me ..thieves
           I tell you...
        and
        4) Guess what? The weekend of the Shrewthering is the weekend
before my final crits! Yes, by the time you all see me I WILL
           have gone insane...

In truth, I think our Wars REQUIRE that all of the characters be "alive"

be interesting to see all the faction members of any of the related

Yes, Nick was happy with being a vamp at that point, and continued to be
happy as a vamp for the next 700 years. I know sometimes it's easy to
forget, but this wish to become mortal is really a very recent occurrance
in Nick's life. For the vast majority of his life he was the Happy
Bouncy Bloodsucking Fiend.

The "fashion" for bathing and a lot of the "bad health" myths started in the

which endeared them to some of the ladies in the areas being raided.)

I'd say that was GWD. That man can do *incredible* things with his voice.
It's hard to recognize him by his voice in some of the other things he's
done because he changes it so much. (Get a copy of Hauntings or Forebodings

Actually, there were several tours conducted before February's "The Tour That
Wasn't", but (as said before) none of them had been with multiple vehicles or
with so many people. For all that we know, maybe one of those guests had been
on that tour in New Orleans, maybe?

Good grief...the last time that I ever "beat up" someone was in Grade four,
and I was angst-ridden about violence ever since (am I considering a faction
switch? ...not as such), so you probably didn't need to have worried that
"your jinx" would have caused me or Lynne to beat anyone up. :-)

(some deletions, including my discussion that Lynne and I had basically
counted out Lillian as having been responsible for the Virgin and the Vam...
err whoops, the NotTourNot post - incidentally, this _doesn't_ mean that we
suspected everyone else, and I should have said "seven *possible* suspects" in
my original reply. That was inexcusable, and I completely apologise for it.)

>I wasn't going to say anything, but I feel the need to respond since Will

I honestly wasn't trying to put anyone on the spot, except the original
writer(s). Lynne and I both considered it cowardly in the extreme that they
spoke about situations with others, when they wouldn't even reveal who _they_
themselves were.

>I saw it for the first time when it dropped with the digest that day. I'm

...but not in the twisted, hateful, more than slightly biased way that
NotTourNot described them, I might add. I hope that we can at least agree on
that much, Lillian.

>Now let's let this topic drop.

This is definitely a good idea.

Hopefully, with this one bad experience behind us, we'll at least have some
idea of things that can possibly go wrong. For instance, I'll be giving out
my cellular number at the next tour, and if anyone gets separated, the other
driver(s) can call me and we can arrange to reunite. Furthermore, if anyone
has any sort of medical conditions, ie., susceptibility to motion sickness,
requirements to take medication at certain times, etc., we'll make allowances
for this. These are issues that never even came up when we were running tours
for 2-5 fans in one car, but 7-10 in _three_ cars raised a whole new set of
questions that none of us had ever faced before.

Remember, we're just fans, not professional tour guides.

>Oh, and if you see me standing in a checkout line, DON'T stand behind me...
>invariably there will be some problem with a) the cash register b) customer
>ahead of me or c) they'll have to call for a price check so you'll be in
>line forever and your ice cream will melt.

or, d) someone will beat up the sales clerk.

( :-) for those afflicted with humour-impairment, a nasty disease that the
list appears to have picked up in spades, ever since the news of the
cancellation, not to mention the airing of "Human Factor")

>I tell you, I have the worst luck. Typhoid Lillian of the Tour Scene.
 ::sigh::

Oh, now now, please don't blame yourself. We just didn't realise all of the
complications of handling several cars, different peoples' perceptions of what
the tour involves (we only go to filming sites; we don't have access to the
studio itself, rats...), not to mention the fact that different people
physically handle car driving differently from others (if we'd known,
we'd have suggested taking a break at some point), etc.

Having only recently realised these problems, yes, we _are_ promising a
bang-up job to make up for it. And yes, you and the others from that tour ARE
invited back (as is anyone who is interested - although we'll have to cut it
off at some point, ie., as we don't want more than 2-3 cars), even though I do
realise that one or more of them was/were involved in the NotTourNot post.
No, I won't lie, yes I _was_ and am furious about it, but I'll at least try to
be gracious and ask them to give us a second chance to do better, having
learned from our mistakes.

If you choose not to come along, that's okay too, as you can go by the
locations list (likely the same one that I'll be driving) that will be
published soon.

Cheers,
Cousin Will

Subject: Nick's Quest

As a newbie to both this list and FK, I have a question. I've gotten the
impression that Nick's quest for mortality has been a *long* one, that he
started having doubts early in his immortal state. Yet I've seen comments
on this list that indicate just the opposite, that he only recently (last
100 years or so) came to this quest. So, which is it? Was there a
crucial episode in his "life" where it became clear to him what he
had to do, or was it simply something that creeped up on him?

Apologies if this has been done to death, but I've only seen some of
the 3rd season episodes.

I was wondering if anybody on the list has written any episode transcripts. If
so, I would like to get my hands on some. I have the following already:

Dark Night pt. 1
Dark Night pt. 2
For I Have Sinned
Father Figure
The Fix
Blood Money
Father's Day
Amateur Night
The Fire Inside

Before anybody asks, no I'm not even thinking about acting. I just like to read
 them.

I forgot the address for the fkfic list, so could somebody forward this for me.

It was in Blackwing. Tracy goes to see Vachon after he appeared on TV saying
the Native American claim to a land deal is valid. He has a flashback and
tells Tracy that he was one of the signers of the letter that gave the Native
American's rights to the land in question.

>2)Is there anything cannon about where Vachon was from 1750-1850.

Well in "My Boyfriend is a Vampire" he has a flash back of he, Screed, and
another vampire named Bourbon rolling in the hay with some barmaids. They
later have the ladies for dinner. I don't know about the time period, thought.
From the clothing, it appears to have been perhaps 1700's or very early
1800's. Don't know about the place.

There was also a flashback in "Hearts of Darkness" that showed how he met and
brought across Urs. That would most definitely fit the time period you
mentioned. Again place uncertain, but I assume since Urs wasn't speaking with
a European accent it was probably the U.S. or Canada.

Hope this helps!!!
