Since there may be a few other AOL newbies this week because of Saturday's Geraint conference, I'm responding on list: Once you're connected, click on the curving red arrow in the toolbar (or, for the more keyboard-oriented out there, hit Ctrl-K) and type TV GOSSIP in the box. You'll skip right over the main TV image map (and the accompanying forced download) and go straight to the TV Gossip menu listing Archives and Message Boards. Click on "TV Prime Time and Late Night Message Boards," then scroll down to Syndicated TV D-F. You either double-click on it to see messages going back a few weeks, or hit the Find Since button to determine just how far back you want to go. Once you open the folder up, you'll have no problem locating the FK discussions. Back at the TV Gossip menu, check out the Archives for old discussions and chat logs. (You can download them immediately or, better still, use the Download Manager to grab everything when you're through for the night.) The Remote Control icon brings you to a chat area, which is where many FK fans on AOL go every Monday night at 11 p.m. Eastern. (Keep in mind that the Geraint discussion will be in the OMNI area, though, not TV Gossip. See Marcia's directions to that area in her earlier note.) For those out there who lack an Internet browser, AOL does have one -- it's incredibly lame compared to Netscape, Microsoft's Internet Explorer, or Mosaic, but it's better than nothing, and you can access the Save FK site and other juicy spots. (If you're using Windows, there is a way to connect Netscape to AOL using AOL's Winsock.) Once you're on, you can write a nice note to AOL's prez, Steve Case. His E-mail is, simply, SteveCase. First of all, I don't see how y'all stand it. I probably haven't seen 30 inches of snow in all my 30+ years. I hope you've got lots of FK tapes to sustain you during your imprisonment! I should think what vampires do during really bad weather is wonder what they're going to eat! After all, they can't stock up on canned chicken soup and beans (well, they *can*, but it won't help much). How long can vampires go without feeding, anyway? Can they starve to death? And how long does blood keep? And for that matter, how do they keep it from turning into one giant bottle-shaped clot? Enquiring minds want to know. And not only that, but I'm dropping blatant fiction challenges throughout. I know the rule about making challenges, but I'm still working on the head injury piece. All I can say is... so it goes. =================================== What would our favorite vampire do if s/he was stuck inside because of snow? Let's find out... Nick: When Nick discovered he was trapped for the day because of the snow, he had a flashback of his magical experiences of his youth playing in snowball fights, building snowcastles, and how the sun glinted so beautifully from all the drifts and trees. He immediately opened the blinds in a fit of angst and scorched his face. He then began working on a painting entitled "Snow-Blind Predator." He spends the whole day and night painting, feeling stuck, never once considering the option of flying out a window because being trapped in the snow is *so* human. LaCroix: Having the common sense *not* to look outside (even though age and resilience would allow such a thing in his case), LaCroix instead put his favorite movie in the CD-V player and sets it for infinite repeat. With the strains of Julie Andrews lilting in the background, "Rosebud" then signs on to his favorite Internet Relay Chat channel looking for interesting people to examine. He knows that when night falls he could fly out and travel anywhere he chooses, but feels that a quiet night at home surrounded by his history and few treasures will fill this night quite well. He says much online, but never repeats what he says or is told. Janette: She spends the day writing on old parchment with pen and ink reflections, poetry, striking quotations, and stray thoughts. It is something she has done frequently over the centuries but not mentioned to either LaCroix or Nichola because neither would understand. LaCroix would see it as a crude revisiting of her human nature, the desire of immortality on the page... an immortality she already has without paper and pen. Nick would see it as a hidden desire to actually become human again through engaging in human activities. Both would be wrong though. Writing, she feels, is one of the most expressive, most beautiful, and most romantic of all the arts. She writes because she loves it's quality. She keeps all of her writings in a truck in the basement... some bound in books, others wrapped in ribbons, some in boxes. There are other small keepsakes as well. Perhaps later tonight she will visit Nicola and try to entice him out to fly with her... or better yet, entice him to stay in with her. What Janette writes she has never spoken of. Vachon: He doesn't like being couped up, so he sleeps most of the day. When night falls he goes up to his roof with a bottle, clears a space to sit, and wiles away several hours looking out over the buildings and at the stars deep in thought. He considers visiting Tracy. He considers his friends over the years. he considers his loves and his causes. What truths do Vachon cling to... what does he want out of his immortal life? Screed: Never noticed the snow. He was in the sewer the whole time. There seem to be more rats below than normal, but he never guesses that they were driven there by weather... only that it was a good days catch. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jan 1996 14:48:59 -0500 From: Allison Percy <percy91@w.......> Subject: Another Syndie Phone Call People seem inspired whenever someone posts a message relating their latest phone exploit with a syndicating station, so here's my latest telephone adventure. I called Naomi Adams, the Program Coordinator at KYW-TV 3 in Philadelphia. She recognized my name as one of the people who sent the gift basket earlier this week! Good, we started out on a friendly note. I told her how much I appreciated seeing "Strings," a new episode, earlier this week. Since there had been some confusion about this week's schedule (it started about 10-15 minutes ahead of schedule), I asked when we should look for FK this weekend. Philly viewers take note: from now through March, look for FK at 2:20am on Sunday night/Monday morning. (This is *not* what the TV Guide says, but I got the info directly from the the Program Coordinator so it should be reliable.) I think she said that it got moved around a bit due to NCAA basketball. I then mentioned to Ms. Adams that I heard TriStar might not produce a fourth season unless the local stations ask for it. She said she had heard from TriStar that the show's fate was up in the air, and said that KYW was talking to TriStar about getting more FK if it's available. She got my address so she could let me know what the final outcome would be when it's decided. All in all, a very positive experience. They received and appreciated the gift basket, they are in contact with TriStar, and they're following up. Way to go, KYW!! Warm glow... optimism... maybe we're having an impact after all! :) Now, Philly fans, make sure you keep watching or taping FK at 2:20am early Monday morning! But there was a new comic store that opened a block from Susan's place of employment and there were FK flyers to deliver. She got on her coat and hat, but then tragedy struck-- She'd left her umbrella at home! What to do! Having just recovered (well, almost) from a nasty illness, Susan was not about to brave the rain without an umbrella. No one seemed to have one, or they'd just gone out and their's was wet and soggy (ick!). And then Susan caught sight of a long brown object behind the coat rack. It was threadbare, it was woe-be-gone, it was sad. It was Sparky, the spare umbrella. Susan dashed out into the storm, shielded by Sparky's slightly tattered frame. They reached the comic and gaming store and delivered flyers to the owners, who hadn't known the show was cancelled. Susan gave them 'the spiel,' then set back to work again. Tragedy struck for the second time that day when a gust of wind roared beneath sparky, turning him inside out. The tattered cloth that held him together ripped in half . . . and Sparky was no more. Hey y'all! I just got off the phone with Susan Young, the TV critic at the San Fransisco Bay area Alameda Newspaper Group. She had done an interview with Ger a while back and I'd asked for and gotten permission to post the whole thing to this list. She has been working on a story about FK that should be appearing in the next week or so, so More Publicity! She also is going to attempt to join the list and also participate in the AOL chat with Ger tomorrow. She's talked to people at Tri-Star and says they have been getting hammered by reporters in the Boston area. Anyway I am going to fax her the press releases and she said she could use the info in her article. Faxes sent, and I also pointed her at the Save FK webpage so there's some more help! -- ***Forever Knight has been cancelled by USA.*** If you want to help efforts to reverse this decision, visit the official Save FK Webpage! at http://members.aol.com/CuznJamiMR/SaveForeverKnight.html or send me private email for more information. TV Guide has a history of ignoring our beloved show . Hell my local edition doesn't even put in the ep. synopsis, grrr. they forgot highlander too. hmph. TV guide just cant do *anything* right. :) Toni Forevre WOMBAT!!!! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Jan 1996 13:58:09 -0800 From: "Lana G.
