I live in a place that proudly calls itself southern, even though *why* oklahoma is considered southern is beyond me. They say I'm not really a yank, even though I was born in a state that was on the northern side. (Kansas) when the state I now live in wasn't even part of the civil war, they call this place 'little dixie' the rapant fundemental baptist movement is a case in point. The station mangager at the station forever knight is being show in, has told me that he is is afraid to show it any earlier, because vampires are consdered to be demonic to some church people. if you run for office in this state, all the papers put your 'church home' i live in a town of a town of 15,000 and it has two hundred churches, 80% southern baptist. most people where I now live have some very unique accents that they call southern, a point in mention is the town Alex, which is pronounced in the 'southern' way. al-ieck, the ieck being the strongest part. Miami is called Miama. and when i first moved here, and started to attend the college that I now attend, I was told that I better take speech therapy, because no school in this area would take a teacher that spoke as a yank. I must say, because of the oil boom in the early eighties, that the people here have mellowed quite a bit, and even though I am not called an okie, I'm accepted. Though if I came out of the closet about being a witch, i would never be able to be hired in this state as a teacher because it's against the law for a member of wicca to teach school. i am not meaning to flame southerners. My mother is a southerner, and a fundimentalist christian, and she accepts my strange beliefs. I just thought that perhaps this kind of beliefs might keep forever knight forever at a strange middle of the night hour in some southern markets. About pronounciation, there are many ways to pronounce different names, even in the french languge. Esp, in canada which has many diffrent ethnic groups. A point is Vachon, which I've noticed some characters on the show pronouncing his name in the french way, even though he is spanish. I just mark it to regelism, or the characters backgrounds, or the way a person hears a word. I'm studying to be a special ed teacher, and have been taught that some people hear words in different ways. So every one that has given their view on how LaCroix is pronounced might be right, because that is how they heard it. . . I would like to send something to a crew member, but I'm not sure which one, is there a list of who is sending what to who, so that one crew member won't be flooded, and another left out? again, i don't hate southerners, I am married to one, I was just meaning that regelism can affect a person's pronounciation. The latest signed news I have, via Forkni-l, is from the show's composer, Fred Mollin. TriStar has actually ordered the sets struck and the props sold after shooting ends in February. Our only hope is that our letter campaign will inspire enough interest at NATPE (the convention of the National Association of Television Programming Executives) this week. If you haven't already, please call your syndicated stations and ask them to ask TriStar for a fourth season. Make it plain that you are asking them to approach TriStar, not just to wait for one to be offered. USA didn't get the ratings it expected and will stop showing new shows after next week. That leaves only the syndies. Of course, USA also dropped Janette and tried to change part of the premise, but that's another story. Anyway, only the syndicated stations will complete the season. If ANYOBDY had heard that KOFY has a continuing interest in FK (i.e., the programming director said so!) PLEASE speak up now! If KOFY drops FK, this is baaaaad for northern California. KOFY is now owned by the WB, which is coming out with that "Buffy" crap next season. KOFY used to air FK in a primo 8 pm weekday timeslot, but shifted to 11 pm on Sat. to make room for the WB's lineup. (so they told me in Sept.) Sombody else mentioned that with "Kindred," or Fangs 90210, set in SF, that might also make KOFY think twice about keeping *our* vampire cop show. Deb Bender on AOL suggested that we do an abrupt, last-minute about-face and start calling other Bay Area stations, urging them to grab FK at NATPE if KOFY passes it up. Possibly channel 44 as a best bet, since they're now UPN and UPN will be the only network WITHOUT a vamp show next season, and since they already show "Highlander."
