I know that I have seen this before.
There use to be a website called JADFE(??? I think I've got that name
right); it was a sizeable adult fiction website for FK.
I don't believe it had a forum, but I believe there was a dedicated
list-server for that community at some point in time.
This sounds like it might have originated there.
Not really an answer...but maybe a direction to look into.

I'm fairly certain it originated with Nunkies Anonymous, definitely not JADFE.
I remember it starting, just not under what circumstances. There were a number
of NA folks who met for vacations a few times, and perhaps we started joking
about it in "real life" or on the Nunkies emailing list.

I think it would be "subligaculum purpureum Luciani". Isn't "purpurus" the
dye for Tyrean purple, and "purpureus" the derived adjective?
By the way, Wikipedia has a picture of a subligaculum:

It's not purple, though.

I never knew where the discussion of LC in a thong started, and since I was
never on JADFE, I don't know if it had a forum.
But I do know that someone told Nigel about the thread at a con or maybe an
online chat. His response was, "I never wore a thong. I'd be nothing if
