I've always liked the idea that she'd start over as a
fledgling.  Because I enjoy the mental image of her
having the memories of being 800+ years old but only
the abilities of an infant.  I can't remember if they
actually come out and say it in FK or not (I know,
blasphemy) but it always seemed to me that the older
the vampire, the more powerful they were.  LC mentions
the Ancient Ones outliving the younger vampires in A
More Permanent Hell, so they're at least more
resilient.  And I think that by being mortal, even if
only for a short while, Janette would lose the
privilege that arises from a long life.

Although, as they never say it, you could really go
with either/or.  She did seem to have lost something
when she became a mortal though... if nothing more
than her fashion sense.

Subject: Amanda Tapping in Near Death

Just watching the DVD second season (again!), and noticed Amanda Tapping
(Major Carter from Stargate SG-1) as a lab tech in Near Death.  I must
have seen that ep half a dozen times but it's the first time I've
noticed her!

Is there a list anywhere of the full cast of the eps?  It would be
interesting to see if any stars show up in FK way before they're
well-known.  I'm pretty certain Gillian Anderson (Scully) has a *very*
small part in Kindred: The Embraced, a show from way back that only ran
for one season - she's only on screen for a few seconds, and boy, does
she look young!

yes, I was re-watching second season and saw her there
as well. I was amused to see she was working as a
scientist in another of my favorite shows ;)
