I would have imagined it would be wooden/fabric toys...wooden hoops, carved
figures, fabric dolls but given how young boys of wealthy families often seemd
to got for military training I don't know it it would apply to Nick

I WARNED you, but did you listen to me?
Oh, no, you know, didn't you?
Oh, it's just a harmless little BUNNY, isn't it?

Naah! The Laurence Olivier version is more likely to appeal to Nick.

As to medieval toys, children of even royalty had very little playtime -
bear in mind that 'childhood' as a sacred time when you play, have fun, and
are free from labour and the cares of the world is very much a Victorian
concept. It has been said that they invented childhood.

At about five years old, Nick would have started training as a page boy, and
between schooling and training as a future knight, his days would be long
and hard. If he was lucky, his family might have been in the custom of
relaxing after the main evening meal for an hour or so, and when the weather
became too severe to go outside they would have the chance to play indoors.

But this is what we now call Belgium, which has a maritime temperate
climate, and that means for most years, just a handful of days when there
were blizzards or severe ice. Maybe once every twenty years or so, there
would be a really severe winter - and even then, once the deep snow had
frozen so you could walk on it, he'd still be outside unless it was too
bitterly cold.

Of course, maybe you could use that - a gift brings back memories of that
dreadfully cold winter when he was (?) years old....?

Greetings all,

I'd like to take this opportunity to offer a heart-felt, personal thanks to
Libby & The Ratsies (tm) - you've been a Godsend. You know what you did and
why I appreciated it.

Normally, this isn't something done in public, but the good deed was so
incredibly excellent that it warrants a public thank you. So...thank you!!

Upham!

Okay,

I've gotten on a crossover kick lately, and I seem to
remember reading a fairly well-done Buffy/Forever
Knight one ages ago. It's not one of Jarvinia's, but
I can't find it. All I remember for sure is that
Willow came along with Buffy to Toronto. Any ideas
what this is, who wrote it, and where I can find it?

There was a story with a title something like "Summer Break, Slayer
Style" that was well written. Buffy, Willow, Zander, and Giles go to
Toronto for some reason and get involved with Nick.

No, I don't know who wrote it. Googling is indicated. <g>
