Thanks, Susan! I'd never seen these, and they were
fascinating.

I was expecting something very cynical, pandering to
the lowest common denominator--my opinion of certain
cable networks isn't too high, I'm afraid. What's
actually there is much better, IMHO. While I think
second season will always be my favorite, I did like
the third, and would love to have seen more of Vachon
as proposed here.

It's also an interesting "behind the scenes" for
anyone interesting in working in TV.

many people haven't seen them, so I put them up and
put a link on my main page.

I just read these, too, for the first time, and while I admit it was
interesting, I found it disturbing how often they referenced 'pop' hit shows in
expressing what they were looking to do with the third season. I felt like they had
completely missed the point of Forever Knight being *different* and *intelligent*,
especially in the first paragraph. THAT sounded like it was straight out of
the Evil Producer's Handbook, Ch 1: Ruining an established show with a mature,
diverse, and intelligent audience.

The problem is that what the networks usually want IS a "pop hit" show because
those are what pull in the money. I was told while taking script writing
from a Hollywood writer that when you pitch a movie or tv show, you almost have
to say something like "Queer Eye meets Survivor only different" to sell it. We
can be upset about it all we want, but that's how it works.

Sadly, that seems to be what the public usually want as well. Some of us do
want something different, but if it doesnt' pull in the ratings, the show isn't
going to survive. That's why there's so meany reality shows right now - one
was a hit so everyone suddenly has to have one and they are extremely popular.

You know you watch too much FK when: You are watching
a show on one of the Discovery channels called
Building the Ultimate: Road Warriors, and the
soundtrack for this episode sounds very close to Dark
Side of the Glass.... only AFTER you think this you
realise they are talking about the roads in Toronto!

~Bast (please excuse any spelling erors and run on
sentances... we have a building inspector and a mover
guy here so it's a bit hectic!)

<g> Okay, first, go to
http://www.ucomics.com/garfield/ to check out today's
Garfield comic. I was ROTFLing as I thought of one of
our favorite vampires accidently doing themselves in
because of such a situation. ;)
