I posed this question directly to Jayne last week.
She has advised, "That play is no longer in planning.
...he will be at LCA."

Well that is odd. I have tickets for 'Do Not Go Gentle' and 'Goodnight
Disgrace' during the days of Oct. 16-18th. I bought the tickets last week
and just received them in the mail. Their website lists Nigel in the part
of Arthur O. Lowry in the play. If he has a signed contract for the play I
don't see how he could be at LCA the following weekend after the play opens.

This is outrageous! I've seen those IDs on eBay items... Why in the
world would someone take all the time and energy just to deliberately
ruin someone's auction? That's evil, but it's also just so childish.

Maybe we should all register on a Forum Group (like Yahoo) and be
vetted in order to be able to vote.

Not that I was able to buy anything this time around anyway, drat it!

I agree. I have tickets for the 23-24 and I am really hoping he will
be there. I am excited to finally be seeing Ger in DNGG, but I at
least have seen him in other things. I have never seen Nigel.

Hi!

I live in the Los Angeles area and would love to see Nigel again (I saw
both he and Geraint at our local Comic Book Con some years ago - they
were both very sweet to we fans...!). Can someone send me info on LCA7??

It's astonishing and sad. A number of people have contacted me
privately to tell me how they got burned by this person.

The KtK crew will be discussing how to verify bidders before the next
auction, I'm sure!

Would you believe I was groaning writing it? I won't spoil anyone by saying
which bad joke, but there's one the artist has to take credit for as several
years ago he commented he'd love to see me write a story about... And it just so
happened that the bad joke fit the "Furever Ted" story.

For those wondering, "Furever Ted" is the name of the parody in Atomic Mouse
#3.

I"m not Nigel's representative, Jayne, nor do I play her on tv :), but I don't
think it's a problem. Stratford and Toronto aren't an impossible driving
distance apart. My guess would be that he might not be at all the events at
LCA. Missing an event or two is not unusual at cons.

Except that LCA is in Los Angeles this year. Which *is* just a bit of a drive.

Okay when Desiree posed the question to Jayne on the nigelbennet list this
was Jayne's replay. Hope she doesn't mind my passing it on.

I wouldn't know if doing another play would give Nigel an out for Goodnight
or not but LCA would not be his only reason for bowing out.

Ok, I am REALLY bummed. I planned a vacation around this. I was so
excited about being able to see Nigel and Ger. I have seen Ger twice
before, but have never seen Nigel.
I even have my tickets for the plays already. I don't know if I want
to see GD anymore... I was only seeing it because of Nigel.
Now I have to rethink my plans.

The people who need to be asked these questions are Nigel's fan club and/or
agent.

Plays fall through all the time, actors fall through for some reason (this has
even happened on Broadway days before opening)... Sometimes contracts fall
through, sometimes there's creative differences, sometimes life happens. Shoot,
even I've been "booked" to do a play that never materialized (several times, in
fact). On the other hand, actors MUST work to make a living.

Before getting pissed off at anyone, especially Nigel, his fan club, etc.,
please get the facts. October is quite a way a ways in terms of the theater
world.

As for LCA, the point isn't really seeing an actor (although that's fun!), the
point is to raise lots of money for well deserving charities.

Although I can't afford to travel right now, I have gone to numerous conventions
and other FK related things in the past, including those with Nigel and other FK
actors. It has turned out EVERY time that the real fun is in meeting the other
fans, the actors are just the icing on very delicious cake.

True. Although it must be said that Nigel is usually the primary auctioneer. He
helps keep the wheels humming (under Jayne's capable guidance, of course <g>).
He and Jon Cassar are the force behind the auction, and in Nigel's absence Jon
takes up the slack---which he doesn't care to do, because as he put it the one
year Nigel couldn't appear, "I'm a director, not an actor! I'd rather be behind
the camera!" It must be said that he did an excellent job, too.

True! LCA has gone way beyond a con, it's its own being, a unique event. There
are LCA regular attendees and LCA customs that must be followed.

I look forward to participating in the "Good morning, Mr. Bennett!" chorus in LA
this year. :-)

Please, do not get me wrong. I am definitely *not* mad at Nigel or
anyone in particular, I am just frustrated, it is just that these
things always seem to happen to me. (ie when I went to see Paul
Gross in Hamlet, it turned out that unbeknownst to me my camera died,
so when I went to have my photos developed, nothing came out)
And it happens to be quite often because, in order to get the time
off I have to put in for it with a lot of lead time at my job.

At the very least I will finally get to see the filming sites tour of
TO.

On a lighter note, has anyone heard any news about the second season
dvds?
