Hello all!
All of the posts on Ger's (and Nigel's) play appearances, and the laments of
those that cannot attend have me curious. I know Ger and Nigel have several
plays in the Northeast, and I know a few of you go to these plays every time. I'd
like to know, if there was a play, oh, say, in the Phoenix area, would you go?
New York, DC, Toronto, Stratford; these are all equally difficult to get to for
those of us much west of the Mississippi. Would those of you who attended the
1998 Gerthering be interested in coming back here again? Dollar (or Denarius)
for your thoughts....

A lot of die hard fans will go just about anywhere to
see Ger, but when he did Do Not Go Gentle in Paradise
California, less than 100 people came to it from what
I understand. But that could have been due to many
things, the timing (January 2nd), publicity, or lack
of it, the fact that he was going to do Lear and so
many people had already committed to going to going to
NYC. Maybe Ger is not so well known on the west coast
because he rarely, if ever works there. One thing I
would say is, any play he would do could not solely
depend on his fandom to fill up a theatre, to be a
success. As for Phoenix, I would go, but my daughter
is moving there next month.

I know exactly how you feel. I am WAY down here in Southern TEXAS. The
most I get to see of GWD, is either on my FK DVDs or on television. Maybe
we should start a club or something, possibly call it 'The Out of Town GWD
Groupies'.

I don't get to go to all Gers plays but I did go from California to Stratford
all by myself a couple summers ago and say My Fair Lady and toured Toranto
with Marg, Barb and Diana. I also saw Niagra Falls. It was a nice week even
though I did it alone.

Another thing with this Play. Its wasn't advertised on his web site. Does
any one know why the club didn't want to have it mentioned there????

You are assuming they didn't want to have it mentioned there. Fan clubs are
volunteer organizations. Life sometimes gets in the way of updating websites,
getting out news letters and news, etc.

NOTE: I know some people are only on one list, while
others (including myself) are on many, so I apologize
if you receive this more than once, but I wanted to
reach as many people as possible.
________

I just started reading book #8 of Ryhs Bowen's
Constable Evans mysteries, "Evan's Gate", and one of
the characters is named Nick Thomas (FK moment #1 from
"1966") and he's a priest (FK moment #2 from "For I
Have Sinned").

The Constable Evans mysteries take place in Wales (Ger
moment #1), usually North Wales. But, in book #7,
"Evan Only Knows", the action took place in Swansea
(Ger moment #2).

Also fyi, book #6, "Evans to Betsy", takes place in
Portmerion where they filmed THE PRISONER.

Its a great series and I highly recommend it.
