I must have even more time on my hands, but I started thinking back and
trying to remember which topics are the most oft-posted.

(Yes, I did actually read the rules too!)

Subject: Ger in Lear

Saw Lear last night - WOW! Our "D" row seats wound up being second
row since there were no rows A or B.
Please forgive any spelling or grammer errors. I am running on less
than 3 hours sleep. (got home late and the adrenaline was still on
full blast!)
I do make several references to FK, because both my friend and I
thought this was the most FK type role he has done since the series.

****SPOILER WARNING - nothing major, but if you don't want to know
anything about the play don't read.

When it first started Ger was the first one on the stage. He was
kind of back lighted so we saw his sillhouette - knew it was him
immediately. He had the longer hair again (done in kind of a first
season type back-do) and the scruffy face.
His costume was all black and it reminded me very much of clothes
Lacroix wore in the flashbacks.
Despite the fact that Edmund was the 'bad guy' the way he played it
reminded me very much of Nick... well ok a dark Nick. But he was
someone who knew what he wanted and was willing to do anything and
hurt anyone to get it. (Sounds like a vampire to me:)
During his first monologue, he looked directly at each section of the
audience (reminded me very much of a college professor)
During the last act he offed his outer jacket and cape and came out
in just a black puffy shirt. *Really nice <g>* There was a really
nice dueling scene and then came his spectacular death scene.
Spectacular!! He 'died' right in front of us, very angsty and as per
him at the stage door "very loud."
At the curtain call, we wooped loudly for him, sadly we were the only
ones. But that meant he definitely heard us. <g>

Finally we went to the stage door. We waited a VERY long time and
wound up being the only ones waiting there. When he came out we went
over to him and told him what a great job he did. He laughed and
said if he had known we were waiting he wouldn't have take that long
- guess he's not used to people in NY waiting for him. (He came out
pretty quickly at stratford)
He asked us our names and then said "I'm Geraint." We laughed and
said we knew, that he was why we came to see the play. Then he asked
us where we were from and we said NJ and that it was really nice not
to have to drive up to Canada to see a play with him. He agreed.
When we asked for a picture, he (literally) skipped over to where the
window card was and said it would be better to do it in front of
that.
When my friend was taking my picture with him, she apoligized for it
taking so long saying that it was the first time she was using my
camera. I said I didn't mind, that I liked that pose. (standing
there with his arm around me) The he laughed again and held me
tighter. <vbg>
Finally it was time to say goodnight. He asked if it was raining, we
said we thought so since I car had come into the garage earlier and
it was all wet. So he waved good bye and went off into the night. :)
All in all it was a great night. I do have to say that I loved the
fact that we had a nice one-on-one with him. (Picture will be posted
on my website, hopefully this evening) It was much easier to talk and
such with out the crowds that were at stratford.
Too bad the show is pretty much sold out. I'd love to go again.
Maybe I can talk my friend into going to the stage door again. :)

Anyone who is going to the show, you are going to love it!
-Amanda

Amanda Thanks for the post. I would have loved to seen ger in this play. I
have onlly seen him twice in My Fair Lady. It was a wonderful experience.
Thanks for bringing the moment to life. It would be wonderful to see him in a dark
Nick sort of role.

Nope, didn't forget. It's not war time, so McLisa is sober. :)

Those of you with access to UK BBC2 might like to watch Terry Jones's series on
Medieval Lives tonight at 8:00 pm because it's all about knights and how they
really lived. Good background information for FK flashbacks, etc.
