Subject: FK DVDs

I am saddened to report that the townhome I was living in caught fire
early this morning (Sunday). My roommate did not make it. I was
extremely lucky to make it out alive. Our neighbors made it out okay.
The other neighbors had just moved out a few days ago, so no one was in
the other place.

Among the things that need to be replaced are my FK DVDs that I got
from Amazon at the early discount price. Does anyone know where I can
find them, preferably under $50?

I also lost my computer with the new FK fanfic that I was working on
for the Raven awards. It's possible that the file is still
salvageable, but I doubt it. I don't know if I'm going to be able to
restart the story from scratch.

Well, since it says, on the package, "The Trilogy: Part One," I think TPTB
intended to release all three. Only really poor sales of Season One would
halt production of the other two.

Emily - if there's anything we can do for you, let us know. FK fandom has
rallyed before. I'm extremely saddened to hear about your roommate. My prayers
go out to the loved ones.

As for replacing the FK DVDs, check out eBay if no one on this list can help
her. The unopened ones on there go for $50 or less. I'm posting this to the
entire list in case anyone else is looking.

Hi-
I am wondering if anyone has written a fic about a FK Christmas Carol. Having
watched several versions of Christmas Carol this weekend (my dad has every
version ever made on tape/dvd) I thought the story fits in well with FK. I had
some ideas, but I am wondering if anyone else has written a story like that.
If there is one, could someone please point me to it? Thanks!

I remember reading something like that a long time ago. I think it was
LaCroix who had the ghost of Christmas visit him. I think I read it in the
old FK story archives.

I wrote one a few years ago called "A Christmas Knight Carol." I'd written a
cutesy little poem called "Forever Knight Before Christmas" wherein LaCroix
surprised Nick with a Christmas tree. A reader questioned what could possibly
put LaCroix in such a happy Christmas spirit. So I ended up writing a prequel to
answer this question. You'll find both on my fiction page.

This may be my A Forever Knight Christmas Carol, which had Ebenezer LaCroix as
the protagonist with all the other roles from the story -- Dickens rather than a
film version -- being filled by FK characters.

I may have a copy at home, but I'm on my office pc.

Please note that the rule against posting print crossovers to Fkfic-l applies to
Dickens and Christmas Carol. I'm sorry, because I'd love to do a repost if I
could find my copy, but otherwise Don and I will have to get into determining
whether a given dead author has been dead long enough to be in the public
domain.

If I can find it, I'll say so on here and offer to send it to those who want to
read it.

She is too modest in her description, her story is a witty, delightful
"script" for an FK episode, completely with asides, commentary, notes for
the blooper reel, and special moments of cheer designed for each of the
factions.

I just e-mailed it to her. <gr>

Hi-
I don't know if it is because I am drugged up on cold medicine, or maybe it is
the christmas spirit sinking in, but I just realized that Nick and Nat have very
christmasy names... I noticed while reading some old fanfic on fkfanfic.com. It
really fits in with the season.
Ok, I really have to sleep... looks like I'll be riding home with the windows
wide open. :)

Subject: Emily (the other one)

With McLisa's kind permission:

A while back we had someone's home burn down in Florida and some kind
soul put up a web site so we could co-ordinate helping get her set
back up. People donated all sorts of things and the web page helped
us not give her 42 toasters and no food to toast. I believe she let
us know what she really needed and what she wanted but would be a
luxury (such as Forever Knight books, tapes, DVDs, CDs, fanzines and
stories). I for one, would be willing to back up my personal archive
of FK fanfiction and send it to her to get her started. I think that
Wal-Mart gift certificates were a hit as well.

Could we do that to help Emily get back on her feet? It costs a small
fortune to replace everything, especially if you don't have family
close by who can help.
I'd offer to put up a web page, but I haven't been very successful
getting them to work. Could someone else do it? I realize it is
time-consuming...but if someone were to put it up and show me how to
keep it going I'd be willing to do that. Would a group at Yahoo be a
better way to approach this?

Nevertheless, would Emily, or someone who knows where she is, please
let us know a mailing address so that I, at least, could try to help
out a little? And let us know how she is doing...

I think that is a great idea *if* she wants our help (we need to hear from her
first). I well remember that Florida incident and it was a true show of how
wonderful FK fans can be.

I also want to remind people of the FKfanshug yahoogroup. It is a prayer and
support list for people of *all* religions (or no religion at all).

I hope Emily is doing okay today. I can only imagine the shock - I recently
spend an hour or so on a very cold sidewalk comforting a new neighbor I'd not
previously met who'd just crawled out of her burning house with nothing but the
clothes on her back and her little dog.
