I was in Toronto in July, and took pictures from a ferry on the lake. And
the Tower was very clearly visible. (And the skyline looked very much like
it does on the show, only it was daylight so poor Nick wouldn't have been
able to enjoy that particular view!)

I can't see the tower from where I live In Scarborough but I am always
surprised at how quickly it becomes part of the horizen when you travel
in the direction of the city.

As for the FK DVD's. I'm ready. I bought a DVD player on tuesday Mind
you I haven't attached it to my TV and I don't have any DVD's to play on
it. but I'm ready.

With all this conversaion about the missing tower, don't you think it's about
time we email the heck out of Davis DVD and tell them of their boo-boo and
how we feel about it. It may not help but at least we'll feel better.
Otherwise we'll have to make up our own labels.

With respect, no, I don't think we should bitch at them over a picture, I
think we should be E-mailing and thanking them for *finally* giving us
DVDs. I could care less about the picture, I'm just glad the DVDs are
coming out.

Personally, I say this is such a trivial thing we should leave it alone!
We've faught for YEARS to get professionall DVDs or VHS tapes. We certainly do
not want to come across as a bunch of fanatics who are so nitpicky that we can't
be pleased.

Several years ago, Sci Fi launched a new vampire television show and some FK
fans (some on this list) posted very childish, hateful message about how
stupid the show was (this was before the show was even aired) and how Forever
Knight was the ONLY vampire show worth watching. I saw the messages and was
SHOCKED. It practically drove one of my real life fans out of FK fandom.

I'm afraid the little nitpicky thing of the cover art could cause some to do
the same thing to the people who are producing these DVDs. I want all three
seasons, and I don't want anything to happen that might make them decide "just
forget it."

I understand people's feelings on this and I'm NOT calling that "childish" at
all. I do understand. But it is the CONTENTS that we've worked for all these
years - the episodes. And I know it is hard to believe, but there are FK fans
who will blow it out of proportion.

What makes LCA a success is people like you :) You guys are really the best
and I look forward to seeing you all every year. Your generosity is
amazing, not just the money that goes to charity, but the way you all sit
there and help each other out, bidding on things for others, throwing money
to others that are short, backing off when you know someone really, really
wants something and they've reached their limit. It really is a wonderful
weekend spent with wonderful people. And you're a damn fine bunch of
singers too! *G*

If I had the money, I'd spend some at a Gerthering. But I'm not sure I'd ever
spend that much. But I can't really say as I was willing to borrow from a
friend for a prop I really wanted and didn't have enough for. Charity is a good
reason. The good sides are the charity benefits and you even get a little
something for your donation. The down side is your checkbook balance is a bit
smaller, which is fine, as long as you can afford it.

Besides, who isn't taken with Ger the first time they meet him? <G>

I'm not sure if I'm misunderstanding the above or not. Why would we email
Davis DVD about the skyline situation? Any errors on the DVD art or anything
else would be Sony's fault, or the fault of whoever Sony hired to put the DVDs
together. Davis DVD is a home entertainment news service and has nothing to do
with the FK DVDs, aside from the fact that they announced them several days
before Sony wanted them to.

The official announce date was supposed to be August 11. I actually have a
PowerPoint slide of the official announcement, and have had it since this past
Monday, but unlike Davis DVD I was honoring Sony's request not to publicize
the FK DVDs until August 11.

There are 2nd season and 3rd season blooper reels. The 2nd season is out to
many of us (the thing we do not have) but 3rd Season is only available for
viewing at LCA. I saw it 2 times. Hopefully they will put stuff like that one
it.

Okay...was just a thought. I agree with the majority. I don't want to
ruffle anyone's feathers. We're just devoted people to Fk and it was just a
thought.

Well, it was a thing worth mentioning, but I think the vast majority of us
are just so in shock over FINALLY getting these out that we are beside ourselves
with joy.

Of course it is quite disappointing they aren't using "Screed in Repost" on
the cover. I'm sure sales would go through the roof!

Now, there is an interesting idea.
        Faction-derived customized covers.
Some of my DVDs have cover-art you can slid out from under a clear
plastic sheath. If I had a color printer - and an artistic touch
worth anything - I could print out new covers and simply replace the
ones on my DVDs... and if people created new FK cover-art and posted
them on their websites.....
Wonder how the FK DVDs will have their cover-art installed?
Heck, even if the original art was glued on, I might be willing to
recover them - or buy replacement cases that are blank....
It is not like I'm worried about the resale value of my FK DVDs once
they are in my hands :-)

I'm with Libratsie - this devoted FK fan is just thrilled and shocked that
we're finally getting something we've been wanting for many years! :)

I also do not have a copy of the "thing we do not
have" <beg>, however I would be thrilled to have a
professional, official copy on DVD which would be
infinitely better than a who-knows-how-many-generation
VHS copy of the blooper reel!

After all the letters and messages to TPTB, I'm
thrilled to finally see an FK release on the horizon!
That tends to eclipse my disappointment at the lack of
any special features, which I didn't realistically
expect anyway. Oh well, maybe next time.

As irriating as the missing Tower is ,we mustn't lose sight of our real
objective . We want to get all three seasons on DVD and hopefully
someday lift the embargo on books as well. Think of it as a training
exercise. TPTB need all the encouragement we can give them. We mess up
here and they are liable to dive under the dining room table with the FK
DVD's in their mouth and refuse to come out says she with a vision of a
certain puppy sitting defiantly under the dining room table holding a
liquor glass in his mouth, one of those ones which break if you so much as
look at it wrong. (If Nick can have a flash back so can I).

Seriously They still have the control here. And as much as we may
wish to think they cared about FK as much as we do, they don't. I for
one am still wondering why they gave in.

Anyway from an artistic perspective if they had put the CN tower in, where
it should be, it would have empaled Nick's head.

Re seeing the tower . I was discussing this matter with a neighbour and she
said you can see the tower before you reach Hamilton coming from Niagara
on the Lake to Toronto.

Hey -
First, thanks to the list member that alerted me to the leather
jackets coming to build-a-bear. I am picking up my Nickbear's jacket
today, so his Dark Knight outfit will finally be complete! (woo hoo!)
Also, I hope to get my Schankebear, or Natbear today. One or the
other due to funding. Natbear is easy - scrubs and a lab coat,
Schankebear... well I have to look around - probably pants and a loud
shirt.
Janettebear will be easy as well. She will be a white bear with the
pink evening gown. Yeah, pink... Build a bear doesn't do goth. <g>
Hopefully I will be able to get photos up soon.

You've gotta be kidding me! Build-a-bear may not do goth, but *white*? Do a
black bear with a dress in one of the jewel tones. That's more believable,
IMHO.
