I was sitting either behind or in front of her, I think it was in front. I'd
met her when I was checking in and she was about to explode from joy as it was
her first time. She had a ton of questions about the weekend, about Ger. She
was like one who was seriously over caffeinated would be.

Everyone was completely shocked when she bid that much. I didn't know about
the dinner with Ger part as it wasn't listed as part of the package. I
thought it was robes, towels and something else that she was bidding on. They
actually confirmed that she was bidding that much. Ger was stunned, as were the
staff, not to mention most of us. I think she paid for it with a check. She was
there with her husband. The next day she seemed to have a little bit of second
thoughts, probably just because of the amount.

And I thought $4500 was a lot for Nick's coat. This had it beat by about 100
miles.

I have yet to win anything at any auction. :(

Me, too! Although I make/donate items for Ger's
auctions, I can't afford to buy any of the stuff
that comes up for sale!

I did a opening bid of $100 on something at the
last Gerthering, but the price was up to $300
before I'd even finished saying "... dollars."

One day {when I win the lottery apparently}, I
look forward to bidding an absolutely obscene amount
of money on something at a Gerthering auction because
all the money goes to Children's Medical.

Meanwhile, I'm soliciting suggestions for auction projects.
{Pretty neat the way I tied that in there, huh?}

Hey, we're supposed to be talking about Forever Knight,
aren't we? Well, there ya go. I did. Now let's get
those ideas rolling in, okay? Please?

On that line...
To keep myself busy while watching tv, I am working on a latch hook
project (don't know if it will be a rug or pillow or whatever yet) of
the FK logo. I wanted to try my hand at making my own design (not
pre packaged) do I picked something relatively simple - not too many
colors or shading.
Perhaps if it ever gets finished (my last latch hook - a lighthouse -
took eight months) I will donate it for an auction.
Last night I was working on it and my dad asked if I was going to
auction it on ebay.

To my embarrassment, I've lost a list I belong to on yahoogroups and couldn't
find it via a search. I don't belong to it on my usual addy so can't look in
my yahoogroups and find it.

Anyone remember the url/posting address for Cross Stitchers of the Knight?

<somewhat meekly> I got something called make-your-own-opoly (they provide a
blank board, cardstock, and the CD to make a personalized Monopoly-style game)
a few months ago and have been working on turning it into FK-opoly. If I ever
finish it, I could get another one and make a duplicate. If anyone would be
interested. (Speaking of which, does anyone know where I can get 1x1 inch JPGs
of various FK places?)

I've got a bottle of Ribena (and can get more) I'd love to see paired
with a couple of goblets from the show. I just don't know who has the
goblets, or how to go about finding them.

Thanks, but those belong to Nancy Taylor, I think. I'm not a
cross-stitcher at all.

Yes, she did pay for it with a check. She had recently come into a great
deal of money and was just so taken with Ger. She had no regrets about spending
the money. She was their with her fiancee [who happens to be my Doctor]. My
husband and I kept telling her that she was going overboard but she told us
she wanted the set and didn't care about the money. It was for charity and a
chance for her to be part of the 'family.'

I recall the "worn" harp being auctioned off at Toronto Trek (a media SF
convention) in the mid 1990's. I missed the auction , not knowing that FK
props were being auctioned , but saw a fan carrying the harp and was told
that it sold for $50 Canadian!
