Subject: Re: reintroductions

Well, I never did get round to say Hi! for the second time, and since none
of my fellow Brits have done so, I guess I'd better stand up for my nation!
(And I know I'm not the only one, so come on out of lurkdom, ladies and
gents!)

I'm single, 48, work for a multi-national company specialising in HR
services and pension fund administration, and live in a sixth floor bedsit
(or studio apartment as they say in the States) in _______, which is
about 30 miles north of London. Had I posted along with everyone else two
weeks ago, I would have told you that I'm the proud owner/ownee of the
tabby-and-white-twin-terrorists. Sadly, I got home from work on Thursday to
find that one of my two cats had died, apparently from misadventure/natural
causes when he tried to get into a corner that was waaaaay too small for
him. (Trust Jeffrey to be the one to prove that curiousity really did kill
the cat! He had such a wicked sense of humour that it was right in
character for him.) So now I'm laying claim to be the owner/ownee of the
world's leading mission specialist in cute (aka Aaron) instead.

My best friend, Lesley, is a keen Rick Springfield fan, so she insisted I
watch 'Nick Knight' one weekend with her, some years ago. Hmmm... not bad,
I thought, it's got potential. Then she started bringing FK tapes along
with her for us to watch in our room in the evenings at various cons.
Interesting, but I don't need another fandom, I insisted. I even video
taped most of all three seasons for her, thereby getting to watch it
myself, as it's to date only been shown on Sky One in Britain, and her
mother won't let her have either cable or satellite. And *still* I resisted
the lure.

Then I stumbled across, of all things, Elfin's Knightrider fanfic and
enjoyed it (don't laugh!), and checked out the links to see what other
fanfic she'd written. Well, of the shows in question, I only liked one of
them enough to want to read the stories.... and you all know which one that
was, don't you? So I started looking for more FK fanfic, and then some
groups, and then someone told me about this list, and that would have been
early in 2000, and here I still am, having pretty dropped all my other
fandoms, except Janeites, still avidly working my way through all the FK
fanfic and even writing some of it myself! I'm a Cousin with leanings
towards the UF, Dark Knights (go on, Nick, be yourself!), and... the
Ratpackers...? Well, I am also proud of being able to say that my late
father was a genuine Cockney, born and bred within the sound of Bow Bells,
and that more or less means I *have* to stick up for Screed!

(And being a Cousin - please don't anyone dare send me the nauseatingly
putrid 'Rainbow Bridge' poem by way of condolences, okay? I detest it!
Just like I hate Disney and all things classifiable as either sentimental or
Kute with a capital 'K'. BTW, Aaron doesn't count - he's the born cute
variety, and that's okay with me.)

'Forever Isn't Long Enough'

Speaking of Sting, I always found 'Moon over Bourbon
Street' really Nickish, also 'Away from Me' by
Evanescence. They are ladden with guilt!

On a good day he might go for 'I love the night' by
Chris deBurgh.

'Sister of Night' by Depeche Mode would fit Janette I
think.

Merlin is the background/help moving on guy and Felix is the money

Or is it the other way around?

If I remember correctly, Larry Merlin set up a
background for Nick because they were digging into his
past at the station and couldn't find anything. Felix
is a horticulturist but he also handles Nick's money.
And Aristotle is the one they go to for a new identity
in a new place.

*EONS* ago (or what seems like it), I once had the most, arguably or
inarguably, whichever fits <g>, (now gone) "famous cat in FK Fandom," black
Siamese cat, D'Jah. Ex-SO (still friend) now has (white, Himalayan-type) cat

thank you <g>). I find it personally interesting how many folks' fur-babies are

As I remember Michael Morbius, he was such a weird vampire that
the Enforcers were probably scratching their heads, trying to
figure out if they even *could* kill this guy with a stake
through the heart.

By the way, did you notice how they never said blood in the

the time of Julius Caeser, but one or two generations after (generations that
saw incredible amounts of internal strife and changes in government and city) so
he would have know quite a different Rome.

Just remember that it couldn't be posted to FKFIC or some other fanfic lists and

AHHHHH...yes. I did forget about that. The thought was so intriguing. I
guess it would have to be a fictional character used instead. But the idea is
great. Too bad I can't write. Give me a needle and I can do anything with it.
